Game Thread W5 - Minnesota V Detroit (1 Viewer)

:wall: Dropped INT that would have finished it. 4th down for the Lions. If these are the normal Vikes they will screw this up.
Hmmm. this is actually a game that the "normal" Vikes woulda let it stay too close for too long and give up a GW field goal. If they were the "potential" Vikes, then the two Defensive TD's would have been Offensive ones.I'm not complaining, but I don't think their D is great enough to be dominant and their O....well, their O isn't going to win them alot of games. It may keep them in some, but they need something very soon.

Sharper with a INT..

Game over

Sucky Offense, Great Defense, 3-2 record.. Going to be a long season boys and girls.

The way all 5 games have gone you might as well do something else the first 3 quarters, as The Vikes only show up to play in the 4th.

Yes, the first 3 quarters of each game are very frustrating. It is amazing how much just a couple deep (read - more than 10 yard) passes opens up things for CTaylor and the shorter stuff in the fourth. Why do they not do that a little earlier? I'm glad they have won more than they have lost with this strategy, but it seems like a strategy for 8-8 to me.

I meant to come back and edit my post to say:The Vikings Offense Only shows up to play in the 4th Quarter.

that defense has yet to give up more than 19 points. :banned:

I hear what you guys are saying about the Viking offense.

But really the Vikings were in control the whole game. If not for the fumbles by MM and TT the Lions would not have been in a position to do anything. The offense still needs a lot of work. But the Oline is getting better. Detroits defense got mauled today ans Chester Taylor had a great game.

Brad Johnson does not have the arm strength for us to open up the passing game more imo. When he does throw deep they are rainbow passes that take too long to get there. Unfortunitly this is what the Vikings have to do is dink and dunk and protect the ball until the Vikings develop another Qb imo. Hopefully Jackson will be the answer but it wont be this year. Williamson shows promise but still needs more time to develop I think. He did come from a run oriented team in college.

Im happy with the win another nail biter. The defense is really coming around. They still need some more work also but the Linebackers are improving.

I still like the Vikings to possibly be in the playoff hunt but lets be realistic they aren't ready to go far in the playoffs yet with this team if they do make it.

Overall I am happy with the progress the Vikings have made so far.

:goodposting: I agree with your post. I am very happy with the progress made, and am very pleased with the defense! I agree that they aren't quite ready to go far in the playoffs, and that BJohnson is not the long term QB. It's still frustrating because it seems like if they opened it up just a little the offense would be much improved.

:goodposting: I like Brad. But there is a reason he is the lowest paid starting QB.. No one else is fighting for the rights to have him as their starting QB.

Childress after the game:

I expect that type of game each week.. That's who we are.
:wall: I love the defense, it's been what 10 years years since we could say that?? But if you don't give the offense a chance to win games, your fate will rely on the other team giving the game to you.Play to win.. I hate playing "not to lose". over.
