Game Thread Week 11 - New York Jets at New England Patriots (1 Viewer)

what a 1 handed catchand now the TDI knew I shoulda started Cotch
Well, like I was saying to someone earlier - either he or Coles could have a big game but lately you never know which.Tonight is Cotch's night I guess.Should have started him myself BUT as a Jets fan, still loving this so far.
Yeah, from what I can gather its been 4+ weeks since Coles did much thoughAnd for me at least, I had to many other more consistent options than CotchCotch this year is like Chambers or Evans every year prior to this

It would behoove the Pats to use the rest of the half if they can. Then they get the ball coming out the second half. They havent stopped Favre yet so I would hate to give them the ball back fefore the half ends.

PS. So much for that theory.

PSS. Way to run with your head down Evans. Slide a foot to the right and you have an easy first down.

Agreed - he has been a little befuddling.Ouch - bad run by Evans there.

great catch by cotchery, i'm surprised the Pats didn't challenge it though.
I didnt see any reason to challenge it. He pinned the ball and it never seemed to move.
Why even think about challenging the catch? There was Pass Interference on the play anyway. Either the Jets get the ball there by completion or by penalty.
Jets declined the penalty. After that they could have challenged and if it was determined the ball hit the ground they would change the call to incomplete pass.

That's it Brett. Keep improving that draft choice. If the Packers lose this weekend it may be all I have to root for.
:lmao: I was thinking the same thing in another thread (some sort of Ted Thompson bashfest) where a Packers fan posted something about Favre getting enough snaps and getting to the Super Bowl to improve the draft choice.Something tells me that Favre taking the Jets to the Super Bowl is well worth a higher pick to Jets fans and the feeling of the Packers fans in April might not be that special.Personally, I am rooting for the Jets a bit just because it is kind of cool to see that old "what would X player do if they were on another team theory" in action. It happens so rarely and is fun to see.I swapped the Jets D for Tampa's about 1 minute before the deadline. We have a little bit odd scoring, so the Jets D is doing decent, but if the Pats score a bit more and put up a few more yards the Jets D won't score much. TOs are huge. I also have Gostkowski in one league. WTH? Why would you go for it when you can go into halftime down by 2 scores instead of 3?

It's bad enough you're being outplayed and there's an injury every fifth play but what in God's dear name is going on with the playcalling. Does McDaniel have money on the Jets?

That doesn't seem right. I would think if NE challenged and won the challenge, the Jets would have the chance to accept the penalty at that time.

Pretty sure then they could take the penalty if the outcome of the play changed.

Very surprising call kick the field goal and make it a 2 possession game. :lmao:
The Jets havent punted all game. I'm not surprised they went for it. The defense is reeling right now.
 True, because teams never make adjustments and defenses never improve in the second half. Sorry, that is a dumb call. Heck, might as well not get it on 4th down and get rid of any momentum your offense had.ETA: Looks like the Pats stopped the Jets there. Wow, just under 2 minutes and you could have possibly got within 1 TD at half. Instead the Pats are still trying to make it a 2 possession game.

Can the Patriots not challenge the play after the Jets declined the penalty? The Jets wouldn't be able to accept the penalty after they already declined would they?

They can, but the Jets can then accept the penalty since the ball was ruled incomplete.Same as asking for a measurement before accepting a penalty.

I believe they could accept. The challenge takes the play to a different outcome. Thus the Jets declining of the penalty in effect had never happened. They could now accept the penalty.

The Jets have four scoring drives on five attempts, with three TDs to show for it, while the Pats have four drives into the red zone, and have only . If there's any good news for the Pats, it's that:

1) TD returns are flukey

2) a debatable pass interference call led to one of the other TDs. I'm not debating it, but it wasn't a

3) the Pats got a lot more ball movement than the 6 points they ended up with, but settled for field goals and 4th down attempts

4) the Jets were laughing on the sidelines so they may be getting overconfident

5) the Pats have gotten the short end of a few calls so far (including the ball being "tipped" on that intentional grounding)

6) the Pats get the last possession of the first half and the first of the second half, and

7) Belichick is usually excellent at halftime adjustments

As I write this, the Pats have a shot at scoring again, so it's far from over. But this is a terrible start.

Fantasy-wise this game really sucks so far. I have TJ and Welker. Stupid Leon vultures a TD and now Cassel seems to be ignoring Welker.

makes sense.
