Game Thread - Wildcard- Jacksonville V New England (2 Viewers)

WOW! What the hell... you are playing a good defense....Why did Vinatieri PUNT an otherwise, 41 yard field goal..and why did they go for it on 4th and TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN for a 54 yarder....Vinatieri could make both.. it's the playoffs... I thought the guy was automatic... is he hurt?

Wind is going into Adam's face, and the cold air is dense, and slows down the ball.

Hmmm...

Just presenting a hypothetical situation here, but how much would it take to get Brady to throw a game?  10 mil?
Interesting question...But I am guessing it would take much more than $10 million to buy off Brady. With endorsements and his pseudo-celebrity staus, he's be risking too much. Plus, couldn't he go to jail if it was proven he threw a game?Perhaps $100 million would do the trick.

$10 million might buy off a lesser talent like Jake Plummer.

When you have that much money, would you really take *anything* with that risk?

I was wondering the same thing. Couldn't believe people were talking about the pooch punt like it was a wise call. 0-0 game against a good defense and you have a great kicker, you take the FG. Anyone heard about an injury to him?

It would have been a 46 yard field goal. The announcers have said some stuff about wind. So, I think a field possession gaining punt is a viable option.

And when Plummer threw the 4 interceptions, no one would ever think he was trying to throw the game.

Why do they still call them "wildcard" games when only half the teams participating are wild card teams?
they always have. 1st round of playoffs is the wild card round. 2nd round is the divisional round.doesn't make a ton of sense, but its nothing new.

Well, to me, it made sense when there were 3 wild cards and 1 division winner in these games...But with 2/2, just is weird.

Very impressed with how well Troy Brown has made the transition from Defensive Back to Wide Receiver....Very impressed.

Honest to goodness, its a testament to the Jag's D and the poor state of the New England Offense that the Jaguars are still in this game

Take it easy. It would have been a 47-48 yarder (snapped from the 30). And they reported that the wind is against them on that side of the field.

I'm thinking Garrard would fare better against this Patriots defense. His escapability and rushing potential might be enough to create some disruption in the Pats gameplan....as I type this though, Leftwich is moving the ball...

This wilford kid, if he ever conquers the dropsies is going to be the #2 reciever along with Jimmy that the Jaguars had hoped Reggie Williams would be. Another instance of the Jag's late round draft magic. If he slides into the starting role, him along with Jimmy and Matt Jones could form one of the top tandems in the NFL. Just imagine if they added a TE- which is seemingly high on their list of priorities. Vernon Davis or Leonard Pope could make this offense considerably better and is a very real possibility next year. I like how theyre building around Leftwich successfully, not like the debacle in Detroit.

Part "legacy", but mostly because it does make sense. This is the ONLY weekend that Wild Card team is guaranteed to play. Next week can be all division winners if seeds hold.
