General Malaise "vs." reading comprehension ; also some talk of skyim and the elder scrolls (2 Viewers)

Trying to decide between companions and getting all remaining shouts. Going to check out mind of madness. Good title. Blood on the ice sounds good too.
I have a courier coming to me with a letter from a "friend" in what seems like every 2 days. Its definitely keeping me side tracked- like I needed any help with that.

Some interesting philosophy on display as you get deeper into the main story. I haven't gotten there yet but I can feel it coming to a head with the Blades over dragons. Pretty sure they'll be after me to kill one in particular and I am not going to do it.

I am loving Fire Breath. I went down the mountain and toasted that Ice Troll with it. I had forgotten to come back and get him when I got stronger before.

Well I went to the College so of course a dragon showed up. So I got to use fire breath on a blood dragon. Was pretty effective. I feel I need the third word. Guess I have a side trip to make.

Why does every other person who looks at me say I look sick? I have no negative effects when this happens.
Might try hitting one of the altars anyway. They kept telling me this and it didn't stop until I got healed at an altar. I don't know from what though. Alchemists will also continue to say this to me referencing some disease I long since cured so I think that's probably a bug.

I decide to go get the last word for Firebreath. Which means joining the Companions so I can get the quest I need for the word wall. It's the first real quest they give so I figure what the heck. I do the first couple of mini-quests pretty easily. I had already cleared the one cave a while back and I was low level then. Again a man in full plate armor wearing an ebony helmet is not who you want to be trading punches with. But it does raise my heavy armor so I enjoy it. Anyway this leads us to Proving Honor which is the quest I need. And they stick me with this Farkus guy. So Mjoll heads for Riften. That ain't right. Especially since I got her setup. Big time armor, two fairly powerful staffs and of course her sword make for tough shoes to fill. Then again he does have a surprise of his own so I guess I can see why no follower.

How does the "slow time" shout stack with Steady hand?

Rank 1 of "slot time" has an 8 second duration, but if I use steady hand (which slows time by 50%, does that increase to 12 seconds?

oof...I guess instead of doing both at the same time, I can use slow time after my stamina runs out from steady hand to regen stamina to get back into steady hand...

This triggers whenever you use a shout inside a town.
Does he just keep coming? I'm not complaining or anything and I love when he comes by but I wasn't sure what started it. It seemed as if right after I sold the first letter I got (didnt get a thing back) he just showed up immediately. Then every time after I made it a point to sell the letter and he's been back ever since.

I think so. Or at least until you still have Word Walls to find.
So all I have to do is shout in towns to find out where all the world walls are? Much better than looking it up on teh Intertubes.

Just keep the letter. After you read it and get your first location and then get the shout from that location, you can read the same letter again and get a new location. At least it works that way on the 360...not sure if it is a bug or not, but that is how I use it.

Ok - my 360 issue is getting worse. I'll start playing the game (360 w/plasma tv) and all of a sudden my graphics will start getting fuzzier until all of a sudden the tv screen goes black and I get the "No Signal" on my TV. Sometimes the picture comes back (still fuzzy) so I can save my game, other times it stays black and I have to power the 360 off.

I know that I still have a signal to the game because I can hear the screens cycling through when I hit start/a/b/etc. buttons, and I can still hear the music. It's only the picture that gets weird.

I've checked the cabling connections and bought a new 360 cable to connect to my plasma. The problem is with both cables, so I don't think the cable is bad. I did have to unhook and rehook the cable connections on the back of my tv once when one of my girls was trying to remove the wireless headphones from the system to listen to a movie, but I'm positive the cables were connected back the same way.

Any ideas?

I have about 400 or so saves on my XBOX 360 for this. Does deleting, say, the previous 300 make sure it runs smoothly or have any other effects, negative or otherwise?

With the Sanguine Rose it appears they fixed it so you have to go have all the conversations at least. I had read you could go straight to Morvunskar after cleaning the temple. And while I usually try to not take shortcuts I was trying to save myself some time tonight. The portal wouldn't spawn though until I talked to everyone.
I'm doing this quest right now. I have one piece to collect. I have turned in the other two. Will I have an opportunity to keep the dagger?

I have read that there is a way to "glitch" it out of the locked container, but I'd rather take an easier rout. I'm not opposed to killing the guy.

ETA - Never mind - I worked it out.
LOL at this whole exchange. Why didn't somebody call me out for being a dope? I so got this and the Mehrunes Razor quest mixed up.

I thought this didn't look right but by the time I got to it you said you had it figured out so I let it go.

Really? I'm going to have to try that!

Off topic a bit but am I the only Archer running around with like 5-6 different bows?

Anybody know where a archery trainer is? Til now I have been opposed to training to avoid getting overpowered, but it's taking way too long to get from 69-70 and I want my perk.

PS, I have also been avoiding having followers until now. I got some bald mage guy and some leather clad chick who keep pestering me to find some sky-something temple or something. Then I picked up some random axe wielding maniac.

Suffice to say, we run #### round here.

How do you mass delete stuff on 360? I have way too many savegames I will never use.
Was wondering this myself. Also on 360
Well you can go to your xbox live starting menu and work yourself over to the memory blade, but that will delete all your save files.
I guess I'll have to dig deeper. I don't mind having some saves back a ways as they have helped when quests break. But I don't need the ones from when I was a level 1 getting killed by sand fleas.

That's part of the main quest and they are members of the Blades. If you find them the temple they stay there so they are out of your hair. Axe guy I'm not so sure about.

Guy in the thieves guild in Riften but there are others. Pretty sure you have to belong to the guild.

I carry at least three. Flame enchantment, frost enchantment, soul trap bow. I don't remember the last time i used the flame enchanted one though.I need to load up on some arrows. Every time I remember I buy the highest 2 classes of arrows out from any weapon shop I find, but I don't remember nearly often enough and inevitably end up with a stack of ancient nord arrows or forsworn arrows or some other terrible arrow.

Right now I have, a Shock, Flame, Freeze, Soul trap and Paralysis one. I get my arrows from the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun. He usually has a ton of them. I think I like the Shock one the best so far though.

I found my banish enchantment item! O got to admit, this takes grinding to a whole new level. Im trying to decide ifi want to even go this route. Sitting here enchanting all day long and having to rest for two 48 hour clips takes forever.

Anybody got a quicker method?

When I did it in the past I would make say 15 daggers (in Whiterun) then sell them at the General Goods store, Drunken Huntsman, and the 2 people at the Black smith shop. If I had extra stuff to sell I just went to Riverwood (3 hour fast travel) and hit the black smith and generl store there as well. If I had more I just went to Solitude...then back to Whiterun and skipped the extra time.

Whenever I do any heavy selling I always try to buy some useful things that will eventually be needed back. I.e. at drunken huntsman and warmaidens, buy all the high end arrows they have which lets me sell a couple more daggers (especially since I'm only selling 200 gold drain stamina ones, not 500 gold banish ones). I imagine with the banish daggers it gets more time consuming finding the gold to sell them off.

Might be worth to do the Thieves guild first. They have people who carry up to 4000 in gold you can sell to after you complete it. Also, get married and park your wife in white run. Gives you another 1000 or so to work with.

Go to Riften and talk to the guy in the temple. If you have an amulet of Mara, you dont need to buy one. If not, its 200gp. Put it on and let the chicks flock to you. I married Isolda in White Run. She has a house there and you dont need to buy Breezehome. Might be worth to do the Thieves guild first. They have people who carry up to 4000 in gold you can sell to after you complete it.

I haven't pursued marriage because I'm afraid of being stuck with the blacksmith dude. NTTAWWT.

Who are the hottest chicks in Skyrim eligible for marriage?

I'm a fan of Miuri, assistant at the alchemy shop in Markarth
:goodposting: cute, nice voice, could use a new outfit, and its not easy to win her over.
Funniest thing is that I just realized I have never really been to Markharth or Windhelm. I think I can fast travel to Markharth though so I must have at least passed it

I forgot about her. She's perfect and she owes me a favor.

I think I'm going to skip enchanting for the moment. IT will basically ruin the game for me in that it's just cheating, or I might as well cheat. Hell if I'm grinding making daggers and spamming the shop owners with wares for 10 hours just so I can one shot everything I might as well just do the money glitch and train most of it up. The end result is the same but less labor/time intensive.

If you are just doing enchanting to get strong, stop. I did no real enchanting (think I am only at level 45), and am walking through the game with ease. Only thing that bothers me is an ancient dragon, which admittedly kicked my butt.

I don't see enchanting as cheating. I mean I one shot people now with enchanted stuff I found laying around in dungeons.

He is talking about grinding enchanting. He should still use enchantments when ever he wants.

Why would you spend so long grinding? Even if you're not done with the Thieves Guild questlines, just enchant a number of daggers to keep with you so that whenever you're in towns you can sell off at least a few of them before the town runs out of money. You'll be able to buy what you need to replenish the vendors' money so you can sell more of the daggers. Then rinse and repeat whenever you're in town/at your house/in a dungeon w/an enchanting table.

If you don't need to have $100k RIGHT NOW, you can easily make money not an issue at all by just doing a few daggers at a time. I pretty much always have at least five on me to sell - they don't weigh much at all and once you enchant a few pieces of apparel with the additional carrying capacity enchantment, you can just throw those on when finishing a dungeon to make sure you can handle all the weight of your plunder + the added daggers until you get back into town. Bigger bonus if the Steed Stone is your sign as well

I don't think that's a bug. Arcadia is just feeding you a line of crap to get you to buy potions. However, if non-merchants are saying you don't look so well, you need to check the active effects in your magic menu to see what disease you have. You may not think there are any negative effects, but trust me there are. Usually something like minus a certain amount of stamina or magicka.
