It doesn't sound that impressive but it seems like a world of difference when some tanks/melee can't even reach you and archers never get a second shot off.I made some pretty gnarly magic reducing poisons that looked to be very valuable (~350 gold), but my speech skill sucks and got squat for them.Transmute is a good cash-cow spell early on.-QG
Yep. Free copy found in a bandit cave NW of Whiterun early on. There's quest to wipe out the bandits, but I forgot where you get it.Transmute is a good cash-cow spell early on.-QG
LOL - it took me a while to figure out that myselfAm I the only person playing this game that didn't realize the answer to all the 'claw' puzzles is actually on the claw itself if you look at it in your inventory??![]()

What the hell have you been doing up until now? Random chance? Thanks for the bump. That vid is definitely the best Skyrim video. That and the Skyrim COPS clip.Just started my fourth build. An Argonian

What type is the bow (glass, ebony, etc)? You need to have that type unlocked in your tree to get it to legendary.I saw a video earlier where a guy was using a legendary Longbow. I thought this seemed interesting so I decided to purchase one and when I attempted to smith it (my smithing is like 70) the highest it went was epic. Anyone else try this?

I'm playing it and about half way through. Its certainly different so far. Worth playing though.Has anyone got the Dawnguard plug in?
Everything I own is legendary. Get your smithing to 100 (easy enough to do), and aquire a few pieces of equipment that amplify your "improvement" abilities (I have a necklace, a ring, and gauntlets that each add 15 to 30%), down a blacksmith draught, and watch the miraculous crap you can improve!I saw a video earlier where a guy was using a legendary Longbow. Yep...playing it now. Seems OK...a new quest line and a bunch of new equipment, a couple new dragons'Instinctive said:Has anyone got the Dawnguard plug in?
Get Stagger as quickly as possible.Frenzy is helpful for dealing with groups, especially if you can hit them at long range before they know you're there.Oakflesh is essentially armor... you have your casting cost and then you can focus on other things and it keeps protecting until it runs out.Wards are essentially a magic shield. It starts as soon as you hit the button/trigger, stops as soon as you let up on it, and drains magic constantly in between. So it's not cast and it lasts for a duration.I'm playing a mage this time and pretty much getting my a## handed to me everywhere. I can only survive by drinking gallons of healing potion during battles. Have started to focus on frost spells and the ice destruction path since tanks are my worst enemies.Any mage tips? Also what's the difference between Illusions oakflesh and Conjurs wards?TIA
Anyone?Does Kinect add much to this game? I'm thinking of trying it and debating whether to get the XBox or PC version.
I'm a 360 gamer that doesn't have a Kinect but if everything else is equal the available graphic mods for the PC version seem to make it far superior to the Xbox version. Of course, I would hate to spend so many hours playing at a PC, so the comfort of TV/sofa/Xbox wins out for me.Anyone?Does Kinect add much to this game? Heh, I just finished building my new gaming PC, and I hooked it to the same TV I play xbox on, and got the wireless adapter to use my 360 controller to play on it.Best of both worlds! The 360 controller with the PC is a definite big leap up for the gaming experience.I'd suggest downloading some of the mods that let you change your controller mapping, and even add new button combinations.I haven't played in a long time so don't remember all the details, but on my controller I could for example hit "B" + the directional pad to get an additional set of hot keys. I think I edited the menus so it would never take me to that annoying "choose the menu you want screen", and instead I added button combos that would take me right to each of the 4.Heh, I just finished building my new gaming PC, and I hooked it to the same TV I play xbox on, and got the wireless adapter to use my 360 controller to play on it.Best of both worlds! I'm so pissed that they botched the PS3 version. It's still one of my top 3 favorite games ever.Already a few hours into Dragonborn DLC, and it's pretty cool. Much more like an extension of the game rather than the same ole dungeon crawls. New armor, weapons, enemies, really all sorts of new stuff. So far worth the 20 bucks it costs IMO.
A buddy of mine is really pissed as well, he's likely going to re-buy it for the Xbox when the GOY edition drops.I'm so pissed that they botched the PS3 version. A game like Skyrim just screams to be played on a PC with a solid state hard drive. Almost difficult to read the tips on the loading screens the load times are so fast.I also posted this in another thread, but this thread is more suitable for this:I tried Skyrim a couple weeks back again after not playing for many months. The load times seem to have gotten worse (when you enter/exit buildings and stuff). It would be a top 5 game of all time for me if it wasn't for the load times. I play on the XBox.
This, by far. That was the biggest difference for me (other than the graphical upgrades) - literally no loading times for anything when playing off my 256 GB solid state drive.A game like Skyrim just screams to be played on a PC with a solid state hard drive. I'm a pc gamer. Always was, always will be. But last year my pc died and I really wanted to play Skyrim, so I bought an xbox to check it out figuring I can always buy some other games down the road should the mood strike me, plus I can connect to netflix (before I bought a blu-ray that can do it too). Wish I would have just saved up at the time for a new gaming pc. A year later, I fixed my old gaming pc. Maybe I'll think about buying it for the pc now.ETA: since I bought the xbox, I have indeed bought a few other games, so it wasn't a waste. I like FPS's though, and playing those types of games on the pc are MUCH better than on a console. Mouse-keyboard combo rules over a controller. I do like the sports games on xbox though.A game like Skyrim just screams to be played on a PC with a solid state hard drive. Short for GOYIM edition. i.e. a newly released version for people who don't like stepping on glasses during their character's wedding.GOY edition?A buddy of mine is really pissed as well, he's likely going to re-buy it for the Xbox when the GOY edition drops.I'm so pissed that they botched the PS3 version. I had a blast killing 150 or so hours with a Battle Mage. http://www.toptiertactics.com/10505/skyrim-strategy-revisited-a-better-battlemage/Bought an xbox for the kids this year and it came bundled with this game. Don't think they will play it, but I might. Any suggestions for a first character build?
Suggest that whatever you play, you try to stick to the quest line for that character type (e.g., Mage College for magic-types, Thieves' Guild for thief-type). I think you'll feel like you get more out of the game by NOT doing everything with one character, and going through several characters. As to your question of what character type:Want to violently crush things up close and personal? WarriorLike the idea of dispensing silent death to others? Assassin (or Archer)Don't want to get your hands dirty and prefer to dispense unlimited power from afar? Destruction MageLike playing mind games? Conjuration/Alteration/Illusion MageCool weapons and armor your thing? EnchantingWant to make them yourself? Not positive but I sincerely doubt it. Not sure you could get the file off the PS3, and even if you could, don't think you could get it into the right spot on the Xbox without hacking the Xbox's hard drive.Even then, there could be differences between the platforms in the save files.Bought an Xbox for Christmas and was thinking if getting Skyrim for that system. I currently have a ton of time into my guy on PS3...is there ANY way to get that info from the PS3 to the Xbox?
