It's about freaking time for this one. I don't ride horses just because it is such a PITA to keep getting on and off to fight.

Anyone have a helpful tip for leveling Alchemy quickly? I'm trying to get 100s all across on my second play-through and this has to be one of the more tedious tasks in the game.

The more the potion is worth, the more skill you gain. So head over to the UESP alchemy pages and get the list of most expensive potions, jot down the ingredients, and then go fast travel from one city to another buying up ingredients for them.

I was mad that the Markarth and Riften quest lines were borked for me because I had already cleared some of the places they sent, so I had sort of abandoned this game, which stunk for me because I like to grind through and exhaust almost every quest/ side quest with my main ( and sometimes only, dude).

Out of boredom I fired it back up and progressed the main quest and was fortunate enough to replace the jarls in both towns and buy the houses. I was hoping to find a cople stones of barenziah in them, but no dice. Oh well.

Maven could have been a little more grateful. I may have to look into the civil war quest if it isn't too late, just to try to depose her ###.

I'm stuck on one of the companion quests though, because the escaped criminal disappeared or got himself offed before I could track him down. Is there anything I can do about that? Fortunately, I have done most of those, but I think that might derail me from getting some of those daedric item thingies.

Let's be sure to keep this updated now that Dawnguard is out for the 360. I'm about 90% sure I'll pick this up next month when it launches for the PS3 (my main concern being Bethesda's incompetence in developing for that platform), but user reviews are always appreciated.

I'm on my third character, a level 30 wizard type. The big difference so far between this build and a sniper or a two-handed barbarian is the bosses are much harder. Many have magic or elemental resistance that leaves you punchless.

I just tried to take out Krosis 4 times and didn't get him to 1/2 health once.

Looking forward to some Dawnguard reviews. I was hoping to get my level 73 character to 81 before it came out for the PC but the last few levels are just irritatingly hard to attain.

So far it's not impressive. It's a bit more glitchy than it was before and I was given a quest to go somewhere but it won't let me through to get there and the location on the map was not point to where it shows in my compass. Going to start over from a previous save and see if it's any better the next time through, so far I am not very happy though.

I'm not sure I'd say that's a fair statement.I think Bethesda's incompetence is universal, not platform specific.

:hophead:

Probably will be a long time before I get to the DLC. Needing to work way too many evenings and weekends right now. If I download crack a Skyrim DLC I'll have too hard a time staying motivated to do so.

Still loving this game. On my third character build, Khajiit thief with an unusual affinity for smithing. First was a dual wielding Nord who I took through the Stormcloak storyline. Second was an Altmer mage who I took through the Winterhold storyline. This is probably my favorite character to date (taking him through the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood) but I think I have been playing a little too much.

You know you have been playing too much when you are walking along one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and this is your first thought.

I wish I would have done something like this in my first play. I just did every story line with my first character. After my PS3 broke (thanks to skyrim), I started a new character but same type. I just havent been able to get into it since I know the storyline for everything already. If I would have saved some for different characters, maybe I would still be playing.

I'm just curious, why did you say "After my PS3 broke (thanks to skyrim)"?

I posted in another thread about my 360 dying and my debate between a new PS3 or 360.

Thanks

Its in here somewhere in the 126 pages. I had an old fat PS3. Somehow the game uses so much power that it was causing the old ones to die. Matts can probably be more technical about it. But I loved the game so much that I went out and bought a new one. The Blu Ray puts it over the Xbox for me.

Anyone buy the DLC's? I only have a PS3 :bag:
The last I heard, there's probably not going to be any DLC for this on the PS3. Bethesda can't get it to work. The good news is that it doesn't sound like you're missing a whole lot. Dawnguard got so-so reviews, and the new one that lets you build a house got panned almost universally.

How often do these games come out?I thought the idea of the house sounded awesome :nerd:

Its OK. You can't customize your house nearly as much as you would like. You get to build three different wings and there are two options per wing. But the house "decorations" are still preset, just like if you bought another house. The difference this time is that you can choose to NOT have specific things added. Its nice having lots of weapons racks, a smelter, bee hive, garden, etc. But at this point in the game, I have 100 alchemy and I'm not making potions anymore. You get to have kids, a dog, etcBut its glitchy as hell. There are display cases all over the house that I can't put a single weapon into. Only items. If I was just starting the game, I would purchase the house building DLC. It puts everything you need in one centralized place. But its unnecessary for someone who is deep into the game.

Looking forward to the first fantasy RPG that combines open exploration and the graphics from Skyrim with a storyline as good as those from Dragon Age or Witcher 2. There's room out there for an absolutely epic improvement on what's come to date.

How much of the sneak tree is necessary for a sneaky Assasin type of guy?
Max it out, but avoid the last perk. I forgot the name, but it supposedly makes you invisible to archers, making them unable to target you. It's bull. Never works. All it does is make a cabbage-induced fart sound along with a nice evil looking black cloud --- while the archers still rail on you.

Gamestop has this for $40 now. I think I'll finally get it for PS3 this weekend. All the major glitches and freezing has been patched up right?

I'm amazed that archers are seeing you in the first place when you have Sneak = 100. I found that my guy was practically invisible when sneaking by that point.

Anyone max out the Illusion tree>? If so, what illusion spells are useful?
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Spells#Illusion_Spells
I use that site pretty often. Some spells work better then others and I was mainly asking those with experiance in using Illusion spells
I also just recently started playing again. I always end up playing a Magic user (I can use a sword in real life if I really want to...I'll never be able to cast lightning bolts and such at guys, you know?) - so my character is (developing into) a magic using assassin type. Hopefully. So I've been using a lot of illusion. Here is what I have found so far: 1. Muffle all the time to level it. Otherwise it levels slowly.2. Muffle doesn't seem that useful otherwise. But the help in leveling is crucial.3. Calm is by far my favorite so far, though I haven't been using anything regarding invisibility - which I think is Illusion.4. Fear works alright I suppose, but I prefer to Calm guys, regenerate my Magicka, use Fast Healing and Healing Hands on myself + follower, conjure up an atronach, and then start blasting with destruction spells again. Fear, they run away. Calm, they stay there and wait for you to prepare before killing them. 5. Maybe I just don;t use it very well, but Frenzy always just makes people attack me. They never seem to fight each other. They just realize "Oh, some guy cast a spell on me, I'm gonna go try to kill him." It seems useless to me.So, those are my lessons. My illusion is at like 55. I generally go into battle by casting Stoneflesh and Conjure an Atronach, then I switch to one hand heal and the other a destruction, or I dual cast Fire/Lightning Bolt in order to stagger guys. When I run low on Magicka, I cast calm and follow the steps above.

Ok - I finally got Xbox Live and want to update Skyrim to get rid of some of the bugs. My Xbox Live ID isn't the same as my main console ID, though. Two questions:

How do I update Skyrim from my Xbox Live ID even though it's not my main ID?

How do I merge all of my games/stats/etc. from my main ID with my Xbox Live one?

Is it worth going to the College if you're going to use Illusion?
I don't know. Haven't done college in either of my run throughs. I'm planning on it though.
I'm trying to specialize in Illusion while using Sneak, Archery and One-handed. I'm using (without perks) Light Armor and Enchanting. I only put 2 perks into Smithing to get some Elven Armor (I'm a Dark Elf) and I'm just staying with that. Lets just say that the learning curve is LOOOOOOONG!

Yeah. My first time through I went with a lot of Sneak and Archery - it kind of took fun out of the game for me after a while. Ended up just killing everyone with a sniper shot. Eh. I also Smithed and Enchanted a TON. So I was making amazing armors and weapons, but I didn't have much battle or skill prowess outside of that. Going for more balance now, plus no smithing perks because, well, why smith stuff if you're gonna wear mage robes the whole time? Which is my plan for now...I'm trying to avoid anything with a Bow this time through.

Finally got this yesterday and put 3 hours into it. I got a dark elf that I plan to build a battle mage with. Dual casting fireballs is cool.

Dual Cast w/ Impact and Firebolt is awesome. Especially if you have an area that can funnel guys. I can juggle three attacker or so dual firebolting one at a time, in turn, and defeat them.I put almost all my level up stuff into Magicka, btw. Maybe 1/5 go into Health. And as a Mage, I don't give a #### about Stamina.

Have to say, though, that as someone who is playing Dragon Age after playing Skyrim I miss the massive world aspect. Skyrim really nails that.

This Illusion thing is harder then I expected. I can't figure out a combo of when to use the Fury/ Calm spells on enemies. Every time I hit them with Fury they just chase me!
