General Malaise "vs." reading comprehension ; also some talk of skyim and the elder scrolls (2 Viewers)

Does anyone know if the Mask of Morokei and the Archmage robes stack their reg ability?I see both listed in my Active Effects, but I wonder if anyone knew for sure.
Yes, they stack. Most things stack except for a potion won't stack the effect with another potion. Also you can't stack some of the xp bonuses (Lover's Stone and resting bonus with spouse don't stack), while others you can (well rested stacks with Mage stone).

I've been power leveling my second character, a stealth archer/mage, and it has really ramped up the difficulty in an enjoyable way. My guy is level 38 but his highest combat skill is archery at 55, 48 destruction, wearing only robes and light armor, no fancy weapons yet. I get one shot killed by virtually any melee enemy, so it really forces me to play in character (ie, sneak everywhere). Nice change of pace after playing an unkillable tank the first time around.

Django started his killing ways last night at the Eldergleam place. (Is this the underground place you guys said looked so great?) The two do-gooders were a little too chippy for my tastes. So I killed them and shoved their bodies into the boiling swamp.

I killed the fletcher in Solitude, then about 2 minutes later, a new merchant came in to replace him!

I gave my follower a daedric arrow and i'm wandering around the prairies shooting fox and deer with a courage spell so they attack me and i can collect arrows and up my illusion. A fox sounds just like wolf when it attacks.

This is probably handy early on when the extra damage makes a difference. At the higher levels, I manage to take down dragons with five or six iron arrows. With the bow damage and the multipliers, those high level arrows aren't even necessary. Of course I realize now that my low level character at the time shouldn't have been saving all those higher level arrows for when I "really needed them." Because the time to use them would have been before I had all the uber perk upgrades. Of course I do this EVERY SINGLE time I play these types of games. Save the good stuff for when "you really need it," and you end up finishing with it still in your inventory.

On my third character and I'm still pretty surprised at the people that can become your followers.

If you go kill a bandit leader for him, the executioner in Solitude offers to come with you.

Ooh, so a follower doesn't 'use up' arrows?

Bought my first house now I need cash to decorate.
Hoping to finally get my second. After doing a ton of side quests in Riften, I finally decided I was just going to have to do the Skooma quest. Apparently it's a requirement. As soon as I go clear the cavern, I SHOULD finally get the offer.

tYeah eventually I'll probably own several. I am inveterate pack rat in these games and have a hard time passing up anything.

I did a bad bad thing to dear Lydia yesterday after I found this book Boethiah's Proving, let's just say I don't have her annoying ### lurking around my Whiterun house anymore.....

That is one of the few quests I just refused to go along with. The first step, which I am sure is the one you are referring to, was just totally out of character for my, uhm, character. So I told the lady no thanks and went on my way.

I tried to get around it. I wiped out the whole crew but not my friend. No good. :( So it's just sitting there in my quests.

Really? After I posted that, I went and looked at the wiki. It says...
That you could wipe out the followers in the arena and the last one to die, Boethiah would inhabit the body and let you continue the quest.
So maybe you shouldn't do what you did, but rather target just those specific folks? I may find out later. Not sure if I'll take the time to explore that option or not. If not, so be it. It can join the list of unfinished quests that inhabit my journal.

I think you have to both. The first part gets B's ( she lets me call her that now) attention and the wiping the followers impresses her enough to send you on the final part of the quest. I used Uthgerd the Unbroken because she was always flapping her gums in that bar.

I have been using Steel, Iron or Ancient Nordic Arrows while stockpiling Ebony arrows. Have over 200 Ebony arrows for exactly what you said, when I really need it.

Potema is making my life miserable right now. Got through the dungeon no real issue but the boss fight is taking it to me.
Aren't you fairly high level now? I can't remember if you are a sneak archer or a tank.
I am level 15 working a bit of a hybrid character. Mostly one hand and destruction but with enough archery to allow some nice distance kills and of course some restoration magic in the mix. I did finally get past her though. That last undead kept catching Lydia and I weakened. So I backed up, remembered this isn't an FPS and with some patience was able to take him out by using the doorway to my advantage and healing Lydia every chance I got so she could take the brunt of the damage.

Knowing that the AI won't land the killing blow on your companion leads to some interesting tactics that's for sure. A friend of mine at work loves to use Lydia to bump his Restoration skill. He'll find a tough enemy where Lydia is in view and his character isn't. He'll let Lydia take the hits while he just stands there laying Healing Hands on her.

So far the coolest weapon I have found came from the quest with Sam. I highly recommend trying to trigger the quest. I am a sneak archer and use this weapon often since getting it.

I love being able summon a Dremora with the Sanguine Rose, guy is badass and his commentary while laying waste is hilarious.

Make sure you bring them on the final couple missions of the main quest. I ran out of arrows before I made it to the World Eater, and was in a world of hurting. 2 well placed arrows would have ended things much more quickly, instead I had to throw jabs with my daggers. I must have reloaded 10 times before I beat him.
Before setting Odahviing free, make sure you have those ebony arrows.

THIS.I was wicked lucky with my first character. I met Sam very early on and, liking to drink, did his quest around level 12 or so. That reward is BY FAR the most valuable item you can have early on. Hell, that guy is level 46 now and I still use it.

Yeah this was the first time I got Lydia killed. I am assuming it was the electricity that got her after she was weak. Worst part was I had won but she was loaded with a bunch of stuff I didn't want to lose. And really I owe her. She has saved my butt a few times especially early. So I backed up a save point and redid it until we both got out alive. Loyalty should be rewarded after all and she has been that.

Game Informer (magazine I got free for a year when signing up with Gamestop) has a two page article on Skyrim tips this month. One of the items they mentioned that you should make an effort to acquire was this one. I've never come across this guy that I know of. My bud at work keeps telling me I have to because he just loved that whole quest line. He never even mentions the reward item though. Don't know if he ever realized what he had when he got it.

He's found in the Inn in Whiterun. He isn't always there, so go do a quest or clear out a bandit cave, then map jump back until you find him.

I'm the same way. I solo now but, when I had Lydia, I would reload any battle where she died. This includes a tower I had completely finished before realizing she had died on the first staircase! I guess we are the odd men out, because most folks here seem to relish letting her perish.

Yep, that's where he found him too. Given that Whiterun is the first town I visited, and given the fact that I would try to go everywhere and talk to everyone, I am wondering if I did in fact run in to him and just turn down his offer to have the contest? It's quite possible I did thinking it was a waste of time or, more importantly that early in the game, coin.

She is a little impetuous which can cause issues and is a bit snarky, as am I, but otherwise she has been great.I seem to have lost my dog on this mission. I wanted to sneak and the dogs don't sneak well so I told him to wait outside. Little did I know I would get put out another way. I figured he'll catch up at some point but so far no joy. If I don't get him back I'll miss him. He was great at distracting dragons.

Apparently giants have little trouble with dragons. I was fighting one with Lydia and he made the mistake of landing right in the middle of a giant camp where two of them happened to be at the time. I have no idea how they killed him but his meter went to nothing seconds after he landed. I couldn't get over the hill fast enough to see.

What kind of dragon? Not all dragons are created equal, but I'm pretty sure all Giants are.
I'm pretty confident that Odahviing would tear two Giants apart. I'll test thing after the AFC Championship game.

It was a named dragon but I missed the name.

Intriguing. The dragon was doing pretty good. He attacked when I happened to be standing next to 4 or 5 Thalmor types on the road. I was trying to decide if I was far enough out to get away with murdering them all when it showed up. And it was holding it's own. Had about half health when it landed and in less time than I could close on him over the hill he was done and the giants were walking away. I was impressed.

Things I did today:

- Talked to Sam, finished the quest

- Forged the amulet from the three pieces. Easy-peasy at level 48. Disappointingly so.

- Took care of Mjoll's little sidekick. He starts walking to Riften at day break. Got tired of following him so, waited until he was near a guard and cast "Frenzy" on him. I had to sheath my weapon and bribe the guard 20 gold not to arrest me, but then he turned on the little peckerwood attacking him and took him out. So that's that.

- Slayed multiple dragons, four I think. One did NOT give me a soul, others all did.

- Went back to the Mage College. Book guy STILL wouldn't acknowledge I already had his stupid book and instead gave me the quest yet again.

- Tried the Cult of Boethia thing or whatever it is called. Nuked them all. She still wants a sacrifice. So that one will go unfinished.

- Got my enchanting up to 100% and took the double enchanting perk. I now realize I need at least three or four more fortify enchanting potions (only have two of the 25% ones) so am hitting up all the apothecarys trying to purchase them. Whiterun shop had one. White Phial in Wilhelm disappointingly had none. My next session, I will travel from shop to shop and try to find them. I want about a half dozen to create my final set of armor and amulets. I hope my patience holds out. It's iffy.

- Edit to add: Finished up Solitude on the thieves guild side stuff. Up to 3k gold for each of the fences. Still have Markath and Solitude to fnish up.

Question for double enchanting while I am on the topic. Do you do both at once? Or do you enchant the item once normally, then choose it again and do the second enchantment just like you did the first one?
