The zombies are much cooler in this game. Instead of being summoned out of thin air, the spell animates corpses back to life. They're pretty tough too (so far).Sorta want to be a dark elf necromancer. zombies kick ###.
in my quick read of the guide, I saw that. any dead body = potential zombie. Can you zombi-fy animals too? Zombie horses and birds and stuff, That's be neat. The zombies are much cooler in this game. I haven't tried that. There were plenty of rat corpses but I never zombied one. Hmmm....in my quick read of the guide, I saw that. any dead body = potential zombie. Can you zombi-fy animals too? Hey Drifter, you ever play warhawk anymore?HA HA. You all sound like a bunch of uber nerds!!!!!!111!I'm jealous
I barely get on my PS3 any more. Work too much and have two little kids who seem to always want me to spend time with them. I've negotiated a gaming weekend for myself but that's a rare event.Hey Drifter, you ever play warhawk anymore?HA HA. You all sound like a bunch of uber nerds!!!!!!111!I'm jealous
smelter (or something like it)should be one in the black smith shop.I'm crafting stuff right now. Made a new set of leather armor for myself.Does anyone know how to make raw IRON ORE into usable iron ingots?

I can confirm that storekeepers will buy stolen merchandise this time around. Even merchandise stolen from their own store.'Matthias said:I believe all shopkeepers will buy off of you the types of things that they sell so long as it isn't stolen. At least that's how it worked in previous games.
The controls are very similar to what I remember of Oblivion. 3rd person view looks way better though. How is the control? Did they finally fix the weird 3rd person where it looked like your character runs on ice and the world is projected behind him? What would you say the "re-vamped" control are similar to?
It's a devious plot. Start hiding money (less $65, of course).I was thinking about getting this as the draw is way too strong, but as of 15 minutes ago I am now working all weekend.I wonder if my wife has any idea what she is doing to our marriage by picking this up for me?

In hindsight I would have, but I was all freaking out trying to get away from the dragon that I charged at the door and it happened to be the door with the Imperial guy, so I went with him.Did anyone choose to go with the rebel in the opening quest?

Yes. Yes it is.I went with the rebel guy. Not sure how it differs from the other but
I now seem to be on a quest to join the rebels. Wonder if it is different if you go the other route.

Wondering how you get the raw materials to smith stuff - do I have to go mine ore somewhere (if so, how?) and kill some cows for leather straps?I went with the rebel guy. on watching where you just run into guns blazing. Saw a mastadon icon on the map and the giant knocked me about 1,000' into the air with one shot.Is it downloading the patch or something?Mine sat on that for a while (about half an hour) while it did stuff. Eventually it stopped though and let me play. All in all for a D1 Elder Scrolls release its remarkably stable...Hey Fly does that Bard thing have anything to do with the guy who was in love with the shopkeeper in riverwood?I helped the other guy hoping he would , you know, be grateful and be a bit reasonable with a discount on the archery lessons but the bastage didnt bat even an eyelid. Hope he realises that after I'm a ninja marksman his days are numbered..Ugh, F'n Steam. I can't even play today.I hit the "Play" button on Steam and I get the little window "Preparing to launch The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and then it just hangs there.
Actually, I was wrong about this. I could have sworn I was able to sell stolen goods yesterday, but it was a definite no-go today. My bad. This is good to know.I can confirm that storekeepers will buy stolen merchandise this time around. Yep. Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but he filled me in on some backstory when we met up in Riverwood, or whatever that first town is called.Did anyone choose to go with the rebel in the opening quest?
I'm playing as an Altmer wizard, focusing on destruction and conjuration. LOVE the dual-casting...
I'm playing as a Dunmer thief, who takes cheap shots with his bow and falls back on destruction when combat ensues. (I know a wood elf would have been statistically a better choice for this build, but I like the way dark elves look). Dual-casting is awesome. It tears through my magicka but it seems to deal out a lot of damage. And it looks cool.
Yes, you can definitely do this. I just used it find the house of the kid that hooks you up with the Dark Brotherhood. My guess is that you need to un-select the objective the main quest.Question for the PS3 players: is there a way to make the objective of the miscellaneous quests appear on your compass? It seems that even when I select one of the objectives, the icon that shows up on compass is for the primary quest.
Reboot steam?Ugh, F'n Steam. I can't even play today.I hit the "Play" button on Steam and I get the little window "Preparing to launch The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and then it just hangs there.
Yea, the sleezy musician in Riverwood is the guy who told me about the college, but any tavern musician will tell you about it.I also helped the elf hunter. While he doesn't give a discount on Archery lessons, he is in your debt and if you get into a fight he'll immediately join your side.Is it downloading the patch or something?Mine sat on that for a while (about half an hour) while it did stuff. Yeah, I'm doing the same thing. Hopefully once I get more used to the controls I'll stop.'dharmapunk said:Any PS3 players having issues with the controls during an intense fight? When I maneuver around I always end up pushing the L3 and R3 (the analog sticks) buttons and switch to sneak and normal and (most annoying of all) I'll suddenly pop out to 3rd person view. ETA: It's not a major deal so may or may not be worth an uninstall and playing from disk. It involves the textures in the game. For example, see here or here.If you want to get the best graphics out of your Xbox 360 play-through of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim you may want to hold off on installing it to your console's hard drive. At least for now, developer Bethesda says.
Same here. Not sure why I keep doing this.So far I've taken one level of the Sneak perk, and then got the ones for sneak attacks with backstabs and bows. I also got the Destruction perks for novice spells and dual-wielding. And one level of the first Archery perk. I still have a couple of perks to use, but I haven't decided what to use them on yet. I really want to be able to zoom in with my bow, but I need to improve my archery to be able to get that one.'dharmapunk said:When I maneuver around I always end up pushing the L3 and R3 (the analog sticks) buttons and switch to sneak and normal and (most annoying of all) I'll suddenly pop out to 3rd person view. This is money, IMO. I have the same type of build. Got a fire-enchanted bow with the 3X damage Sneak perk and the eagle eye Archery perk (the zoom-in ability), and I was able to take out an entire fort by sniping each guard from the surrounding hills.Same here. )Interesting. But no dice. The vamps I wiped out lived in a cave.'Matthias said:Vampire update -
Vampirism is similar to Oblivion. Each night you don't feed you grow more vampiric, which means stronger effects and additional powers. Weaknesses also grow. The first day you have -15% health, magicka and stamina. It grows from there to (I think) 25% and 35%. You also look worse and worse. If you don't feed for 3 nights townspeople will attack you (found this out the hard way. Imagine map-jumping to a town only to have the entire population begin attacking you.)
Powers (as I recall) -
100% disease resistant
100% poison resistant
+25% sneak ability
+25% cold resistant
+25% fire WEAK (this grows when you don't feed, up to 100% at full vampire)
You also get a 60 second night vision power/spell
A charm/calm people power
And a moderately powerful animate zombie power.
Despite that list looking impressive, I don't know if it's worth having such drastically reduced health & stuff during the day. The need to feed also quickly becomes a pain in the butt.
