Can a PS3 guy please tell me that the game turning off and the red light blinking means I just have to give it some timeOrdid my stupid system just die on meMatts > Help
Dude, sorry. It is dieing or dead. :( . That is exactly what happened to mine. Eventually it would shut off quicker and quicker until it was unusable. Red Light of Death (red light blinking) is the heat issue too many of the original units succumbed too. The good news is that the slim models are much less likely to have this issue.
So there is no way of getting the game out? And obviously I have lost all my data and stuff. Im so bummed right now. My wife says, just buy another one. I try to explain to her that i just lost 60 hours of game play. This is the worst feeling ever
Don't panic yet. If this is the very first time it happened, do this1) let it cool completely2) turn it back on and get the disc out immediately3) turn it off and let it cool again4) plug in a USB stick5) turn it on and quickly save your game data to the USB stickThen when you get the new one, just load the game data back on to the new ps3 via the USB stick and you won't lose anything.
Got the game out. Wont turn on long enough to get the data though  :hot:
Try sticking it on a fan the next time you try it as well. Keep it as cool as possible and you may luck out. You'll have to look, but worst comes to worst, I believe there are ways to remove the hard drive and get the data off it.

Try doing the radient quests for the thieves guild (as in "restore the thieves guild to its former glory"). By the time you finish this, Tomila will have 4000 gold each time you visit her, plus you'll have immediate access to four other merchants right there in the Flagon. You can acculumute wealth really fast at that point.
How many do you have to do? I did like ten of the ledger quests for Devlin and got a message about the standing increasing. But the pay only went to 450. Did I need to do more? Do something different? Just not sure.
After you complete 5 for each keep, you will unlock a "special mission", once you complete that every fence will increase their gold by 500.
what do you mean, each "keep"?
Or town, or whatever you want to call it. Riften, Whiterun, Solitude, Winterhold, and Markarth I think is the 5th.

Discovered the recipe for paralysis! Since my bow already has frost damage every victim freezes and then falls over in a Han Solo carbonite style thud. :nerd:

Put it in the fridge or depending where you live, put it outside for an hour.

Maybe try opening the PS3 up and clean the dust and replace the termal grease on the cpu.

Mzulft :wall: :wall: :wall: ####in Falmars and Churros or whatever the #### theyre called
You must have went in there lower level. Or I went in at a high level. Either way, thought that was one long, boring dungeon crawl. Everything was a one shot kill. Even the "big bad boss" creature fell to three arrows. I wonder, I think I read that the level of the dungeon is set the first time you enter it. I had ransacked the store room there as a low level character, but was probably 15 levels higher when I went back and did the main dungeon. I wonder if the level was set to when I had raided that storeroom?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I am not the most tech savvy guy so Ill try to cool it off and save whatever data I have on it. (First I need to find out how to do that). Dont want to take up any more time in here so thanks again to all and it will be awhile before I fire this up again. Not the worst thing in the world since I am much better now and understand a lot more. So when I do fire it up again, it shouldnt take me as long to "figure" things out

only level 17. Guess I shouldve waited. Took me almost 2.5 hours  . There was one part that took me an hour.Question: Do enemies respawn in dungeons? Reason Im asking is I had no capcity to carry any of the metal in that dungeon and wouldnt mind going back.

Think they do. Maybe after 10 days or 30 days of the player not visiting? Something like that.
I would guess so long as it says "Cleared," you are ok? Just a guess though. Personally, I didn't pick up any of the metal. I just had someone tell me you can melt it down to make ingots? If so, maybe it is worth it. But at the time, looking at the value versus the weight, I just didn't think it was worth the bother. Now I have enough Dwarven Ingots and no use for them (I have no dwarven weapons or armor that I use) that it really isn't worth it to me.

Note to self: I need to be a higher level before going deep into Raldbthar. Sort of got my butt handed to me by the Falmers, the traps and the Dwemer mechanical monsters in there. First dungeon I actually left because it was just too difficult for my experience level.

What I have been trying to avoid and frankly, it is impossible if you are just exploring, is doing something that negates a quest that I have not gotten. Like in the above place, I walked in and killed this random guy right off the bat and now I realize that is a mission I was to get later on. He says to me,"Ah ha, you found me." I'm like, " I was looking for you???"

It is fun to explore, but only being level 14, there are some nasty things out there that can kill you quickly.

I did the same last night at level 13. I died 2 or three times in the same place and realized I was in over my head and headed out to explore some other areas. I ended up making a long exploratory walk to Windhelm where I think I unknowingly started a quest line that should be pretty fun.

Is Ralbthar after Mzulft? Cuz those Falmars & Dwemer mechanical things tore me a new ####### and I still perservered through but I dont wanna do that again?

Just decked out a set of dragonscale armor with unlimited destruction magic. thanks for the pointer h311
Been rolling this way for a while now. I don't even bother sneaking around anymore. Just barge in shooting lightning out of my hands. My destruction is almost maxed out, so even dragons only take a few hits.Lightning bolt!............Lightning bolt!.........LIGHTNING BOLT!!!!

Yeah I'm at 13 and it's still a very dangerous world out there.

Is it a no-brainer to bring along lydia?

Oh, and I had my first lol moment. so I was screwing around between the two early towns and there's this old lady that claims she's all poor. So I ran out of room and had some crap I wanted to go back and get from the gold claw thing in the little temple before it. So I climb up there and I realize I can see the lady. I think i killt her with the bow because I got huge XP for such a long shot hitting :bowtie: . I go down the mountain and start rummaging through her crap and go in the trap door. I never actually saw her anywhere. I pop out the trap door and the ##### is hammering me with magic. A couple arrows to the dome and she's laying in a heap.

Has been for me. Big help at lower levels although she can get away from you and ruin your stealth attacks on occasion.

Not ok. It says cleared after the first time you clear it, but they will respawn after X days -- but the "cleared" label stays there.

Lydia got iced for me early on. I also accidentally killed Erandor in the final Mage college quest.

OK, this is the ultimate :nerd: question, but I am having some problems with the third thieves guild quest, for Maven Black Briar. I just really don't like her and don't like the idea of trying to run her competition out of business.

Question for those who have completed it:

Is there an opportunity to flip the script on this ##### and side with Honningbrew Meadery?
Anyone else get into this enough to actually think your character should have a conscience? :nerd:

Not sure, but probably not. Try going through everything except poisoning the vat and see if there's and option at the end t say that you're finished.

I'm well past that part and I didn't see an option to do it.But yes... I smoked the dark brotherhood instead of joining it.

They're on my list for some point further on in the game. If you go all the way through the Thieves Guild quest line do the Black Briars become assailable characters?

Been rolling this way for a while now.
Oh, well thanks so much for sharing your techniques with us, Gargamel.
Har. I've tried to avoid this thread with all the spoilers, but I'm far enough along now that it really doesn't matter too much. Tip from your Uncle Bonz: Don't sleep on the Run Really Fast shout. Shortens the time between destinations, avoid traps in dungeons, and let's you "fly" across rivers, pits, crevices, etc. Other than the Ice one, it's my favorite.

You can read more about the blinking red light in the link below. Be careful trying to have it fixed, many people have reported the problem eventually returns. Now what ever you do, do not throw it out. I was able to get $80 for mine, sold as is, on EBay which makes the slim pretty cheap to buy.http://ezinearticles.com/?PS3-Blinking-Red-Light---What-Does-That-Red-Light-Blinking-on-Your-PS3-Mean?&id=5235176
If it's a backwards compatible 60GB, you can trade it in through the Sony repair submission and get a refurb newer model for $100.

I wouldn't think so. I mean, if you really had a conscience, would you be joining a thieves guild? So I imagine they didn't provide an alternative. If you want to join, you have to pay the piper so to speak. If it makes you feel better, the guy you are "taking it too" is pretty much a jerk-off too. So you really do end up helping a third party.

Its not. Although I found a place that will fix it for 120. Not bad especially if I can get my game saves and then buy a new one summer time

It's not terribly difficult to fix yourself if you know your way around the inside of a computer, but you will need a few tools (special star screwdriver, heat gun, thermal paste).

By the way, <minor spoiler> did you pick up the "special" mug on the second floor? It is useful when you return to the thieve's guild lair.

Is there a Lusty Maid character in here? I swear to Tebow I've seen her before, but can't recall or find her again.

I've got my Amulet of Mara on and lookin' for love

Yep I have an issue with some of these since I am trying to play a "moral" character in this game.
So much so that in the quest where you get put in jail in Markarath I killed the Forsworn king at the end of the conclusion and then went around killing all the Forsworn that were killing the citizens of Makarath.

The character I'm playing right now I have morally good.... however I plan to start a character whose conscience would be bereft of any good whatsoever.

The best line, maybe, that i've heard uttered at me while being attacked is; "You remind me of my cousin's cat" :lmao:

Putting this in a spoiler not sure what it means and don't want to ruin anything for anyone.

So I was unloading all my crap into one of my chests and I happen to come across a note from the Dark Brotherhood that says someone wants me dead and have already paid for it and something about now being marked for death. But I don't recall seeing a quest that relates to this note. Anyone see this before? Did I miss something? I know I killed an assassin not too long ago but that's the only thing I could think of that it was from.

I got the same after I killed one of their guys on the trail

Different note, I have both.

Has anyone lost a brawl yet?

All these NPC fools are trying to challenge me to a fist fight whenever I am wearing decked out Ebony Armor and these schmucks are wearing "Fine Clothes".
