General Malaise "vs." reading comprehension ; also some talk of skyim and the elder scrolls (1 Viewer)

I feel like I have been training for a marathon in prep for this game. I have read a ton on it and have been waiting patiently for bug fixes and the game to reach a decent price point.

Version 1.4 looks like it fixes a bunch (including the ps3 memory issue) and I was able to pick up the game for $35 on eBay which included shipping.

Here is to 200+ hours of fun I am about to have :banned:

Has anyone maxed out their achievements/trophy's with a single character?
almost done with all the achievements on my main. Still need the 1k bounty in each hold, the remaining 4 daedric artifacts, one shout and one stone. I am currently working on the masks and artifacts, and hoping to find the last shout or stone I need while doing them. If I dont find them I'll have to look them up, but I have been playing without cheats/hints up until now.

I couldn't tell you if I have a single achievement or trophy. I always hear people talking about these things. Where do you even see them?
For the PS3, when you receive a trophy, it pops up in the upper right hand of the screen to let you know you achieved it. Cummulative trophy information for all games can be found in the PS3 Game XMB menu column. You can find out your trophy rank when logging into PSN.

I don't even know what this means. I guess I'll have to look around the menu screen sometime. As it is, I know how to log in, how to sign in, and how to sync a new device. That's about as far as I go. I am assuming this is a menu NOT inside the game, but rather on the main PS3 screen, correct?

Is there a way to decide which patch if any you want to install.

ETA: PS3

So this patch is out now?
I don't think so. I was on Wednesday and didn't get any sort of update.Edit: PS3 platform.

Yeah I'm on PS3 as well. I didnt know you had a choice of shich patch to install though?
I don't think you do, I've never seen it as an "option." You could disconnect from the network to avoid patches, but I don't know that you could skip some and install others via online. I guess if you disconnected from the network, you could download the patches via your computer from the PSN site to a USB stick and install only the ones you want that way?

I have no clue. Acer made it seem as if you had an option. Since I was new to this series and never downloaded a patch for it before I wan't sure if there was something I was missing or not.

I was just asking. I remember one glitch from the non patched version that I wanted to exploit before I downloaded any of the patches.

thought I was dope and tried moving up to expert difficulty with my level 7 mage, two hits killed me from a dungeon boss, moved it back :lmao: prob should only do that with my main level 50 character

Not only am I not sure if this is possible, but it sounds like a manifestly bad idea. Assumedly, all patches post Patch 1.X will assume that the code from Patch 1.X will be present and may rely on it. Although I suppose if you only wanted to install patches up to Patch 1.X that would be fine, assuming that it is indeed possible to d/l them separately.
Well actually most patches include everything from the previous patch in them. This makes it so that anytime you buy the game and go online you get it all in one dl.

Speaking of which, is it possible to enchant something with the detect life spell? Although it really screwed up the scenery (and probably made things too easy), I always loved having that "thermal scope" in Oblivion.
Detect life is a spell, not an enchantment.

I still haven't come across one weapon with Banish. Not one.Frustrating.
I didn't find one through my entire first character's playthrough. Blorc found one pretty early on.
It's bumming me out. Are there vendors that sell them somewhere, even randomly?
Each one I've found has been at a standard vendor (Blacksmith in Rifton & Whiterun, etc.). I didn't see my first one until at least level 40, but then again I wasn't really looking for it either.

I'm level 49, but admittedly not very far along in the Main Quest. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Every game made since ~2008 must include Trophy support.Inside of the PS3 XMB menu system (the PS3 main screen), holds information about all games you have played in terms of Trophy's. This information is synced with PSN (PlayStationNetwork) when you log in so that the information can be shared across the network. To see your trophy information, go to the Game menu on the PS3 main screen, and then simply scroll down until you see an icon called Trophy Collection. Select this to see all of your trophy's you have acquired.See below for an examplehttp://playstationlifestyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/xmb-screenshot-685x385.jpg

Why do you want Banish so badly? It's not really worth much in a fight as it only works on summoned daedra. It's useful to generate a lot of $$ when your enchanting and smithing are low. For some reason the higher your enchanting the less money it is worth. It was useful for me simply because I wanted to level both smithing and enchanting and since I had Banish I was able to make some coin with it, but that was even a pain as you had to travel all over the place to sell them.

To be honest, I wanted it earlier to use to enchant daggers and sell to maximize loot. And now it's just an annoyance that I can't find it. But you're right, at this point I've got houses full of stuff that I can fence or sell for septims.

Fair enough, the annoyance thing would get me too.

I'm not very far along in the Main Quest either, so I don't know that it has anything to do with it. By 49, though, you should have more money than you know what to do with. I'm well over six figures and not even taking half the plunder anymore unless it's big Septims.

Thanks. I've never even seen that menu item. I'll have to look for it.

I don't think your main quest progress has anything to do with it. My character put the main quest on hold after killing the first dragon and didn't continue it until he was past lvl 60. Still found a banish item pretty early on.

i've heard the fletcher in solitude has them occasionally but i'm never ran across one

So I did the Companion mission where you see the guy get his Werewolf on...doing this one caused me to lose Lydia. Is there a way to get her back? She was holding alot of valuable goods....

Oh, I mean one in my house where I could display them as I find them. :P If you have the wooden mask, can you visit that wall anytime? I remember finding it, but I think I just dropped it while in Labyrinthia. I understand it will be there when I go back, but I don't see me finding motiviation for that unless I had all eight.
Yah. And I dunno, the masks look better there than in the bottom of a chest.
Had 20 minutes so went and did this today. So now I have five masks I can go admire. Wonder if I will get the other three just doing word of power quests, or if I need to advance the main quest or pick up other random ones? Rhetorical question I guess, not really looking for an answer.

She left when he took her place, right? In that case, she'll show up at your house in Whiterun or, if you don't have the house, back at the Dragonreach where you first got her.

Right he took her place. I bought Breezewood shortly after that mission, so I know she's not there. I didn't see her at Dragonreach but I'll head back and take another look. Thanks.

I have a Breezewood question. I bought all the upgrades, and:

A: Still have boxes and crap in the kitchen, and

B: There's an extra bedroom, but it says the bed is "owned". Presumably by someone other than me.

Working as intended?

Wow, two handed axe and NOT sneaking around is so awesome. Got the Sanguine Rose (my favorite "follower") in about 1/4 the time it took me as a sneak/archer.

Has anyone maxed out their achievements/trophy's with a single character?
Just finished it off tonight. I messed up the very first daedric quest by not killing a wizard and had to do all the quests over. Great game and may revisit it when the dlc gets ready to come out. There were a couple of spots on my map I havent visited so may go back and clear them out.

I think it's completely random.I'm not far along in the quest and bought my item in Whiterun at around level 20.

OK one of today's goals is to finish Forbidden Legend. I have all 3 pieces and am headed to Reachwater Rock to get them forged.

I was WAY to overpowered by the time I did this. Took quite a bit of the fun out of it. Hopefully the main battle(s) will be a good challenge for you.

Orc, dead at level 16, RIP
How?
rolling along w/ no problems at all... just finished the compainions quest line, on my way to retrieve the horn of jurgen windcaller and I decided to go through a dwarven ruin go pick up some extra filled soul gemsI lost lydia to a pack of falmer about half way through but no real risk to myself, get to the end and see a dwarven centurion, it's still standing up against the wall so i get my berserker queued up but don't trigger it yet. a dwarven sphere pops out to my right so i decide to go kill that first. it doesn't die on the first hit like the rest have but no problem i'll just hit him a couple more times. next think i know i'm lying on the ground dead and can still hear the frost attack from the centurion. ###### ######the funny part is both my orc and mage were lost while going down some side dungeon while on my way to retrieve the horn of jurgen windcaller

I am at level 16 right now and so far they have been a challenge.
That's a very good item for that level
Yeah I have checked out of the main quest for a bit so I could make some improvements to my levels and gear. 30 points across the board is too good to pass up. Of course I have died a few times along the way.

Just started playing today. Only logged about an hour, so far it's boring as hell and the game movement sucks.

Does this get better?

Maybe? If your first reaction is that it's terrible, not sure how much better it's going to get. But I'd give it 10-20 hours of trying stuff before you decide for sure.
I just did the first hour last night and I can see why it would be boring. Ron, it gets much better. Once you start working on actual quests instead of finding your way to Riverwood, you will be set.

Well all games come down to a subjective opinion. I didn't find the first hour boring. But then I also kind of knew what I was getting into so I had appropriate expectations for it. By that I mean the way the game plays and how the story unfolds not the actual events. For me it's been very good from the beginning. Only you really know whether it will get better for you. Most opinions here are pretty much biased in favor of saying yes it gets better. But I know as an FPS player it wasn't until I played Oblivion that I found a game in this genre that I liked. And I had tried a few. I would say give it a try for a while longer and then decide.
