Is anyone having trouble with the spreadsheet?  When I pull it up, there are only two rows.

This band seems like they would be fun live.
No doubt.  Unfortunately, never had the pleasure.  Back in the late 80s, Kat Bjelland was in a short-lived band with Courtney Love and Jennifer Finch (later of L7).  All three went on to great stuff, but I can't imagine anything they were doing together at the time was remotely listenable.

Round 602

Category: Songs To Play At The End Of The World

Song: Mellow Yellow

Artist: Donovan

I have a weird sense of impending doom. I love the riff and the horns.

Plus, he beats sixteen by two years.

602a.   Mariah Carey - Fantasy (IP Theft)

602b.  Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five - It's Nasty (IP Theft)

602c.   Latto - Big Energy (IP Theft)

Three songs that sample "Genius of Love" by the Tom Tom Club.  Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz have probably made more money off this two bar hook than they ever did from Talking Heads.

Amazingly, this is the first Mariah Carey song drafted.

Round 593 – Artie and Paul in the Morning

Paul Simon and George Harrison - Homeward Bound

Sure, it breaks an unwritten rule by not being available on Spotify, but I have always loved this version dearly.  George sounds and looks gorgeous.

Round 595 – Beezle and the Bubs

George Harrison - Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Adorable video.

Round 599 – IP Theft

Talib Kweli feat. LaToiya Williams - Lonely People

Wish I could take something from The Album That Shall Not Be Named, which I know both rock and I like, but I don't want lawyers showing up at my door.  Some of the other best - Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang, Jay Z - have been taken, primarily by me.  I have no idea if this is considered a good song, but I like it.

Round 600 – Music Calendar

Ringo Starr - Early 1970

This is a clever song from Ringo about the breakup of the Beatles.  Each verse addresses an individual Beatle, in increasing order of how likely he thinks it is they'll work with him post-breakup (Paul -> John -> George).  Then the fourth verse is about Ringo himself, making fun of his lack of musical talent on anything but drums, and then finally saying that he hoped they'd all four work together.  Sadly, that was never to happen, but Ringo did work extensively with George and John, and to a lesser extent Paul, and of course the three surviving members came together and recorded "All Those Years Ago" after John's murder.  George also plays guitar on this track.

Round 601 – Pride

k.d. lang - Golden Slumbers/The End

Speaking of gorgeous vocals...

I'd vote in the affirmative

I wanted to take the Harrison Simon song but yeah it’s not on Spotify. I have a CD somewhere that was a benefit for Romanian children that has it on there.

Nobody's Child.  The title track is from the Traveling Wilburys, and I love it too even though it is as dreary as can be.  The benefit was organized by #1 Beatle Wife Olivia Harrison.  That's very cool that you have the CD!

Starting at the 44 second mark, you see Paul's boot on the stool, and it kinda looks like he is even shorter than he already is, because his other leg is shadowed.  I picture rock's hair as looking like Paul's style.  j/k
This is all because I’m mad about Saffron, isn’t it?

I look more like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. Boffo pony tail and all.

Round 603

Category: Zero To Sixty

Song: 1234

Artist: Feist

Round 603b

Category: IP Theft

Song: Bros

Artist: Panda Bear

From the seminal Person Pitch, this sound collage includes samples by The Tornadoes and Cat Stevens.

Round 603c

Category: IP Theft

Song: Let Forever Be

Artist: Chemical Brothers

This isn't what you think. It's not the Chemical Brothers sampling anything. It's Noel Gallagher writing the song without credit and giving an uncredited vocal performance. Jeez, Chemicals!

I'm going to drop a whole lot when this category comes to its end, so beware and if you ever listen to the playlist, I hope you enjoy it!

I heard this on WXPN when I was running errands this morning. My thought was, this would be good for Zero to Sixty but it had to have been drafted by now. Nope!
Kind of like when I heard "On The Radio" by Donna Summer the day that Mrs. Rannous pilfered it from me. I can relate.

Is there an IP Theft playlist yet? If not, you'd be the logical person to handle it.

Round 603:

A. Songs to Play at the End of the World

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) -- R.E.M.

Another I was sure had been drafted already, especially for this playlist, but nope.

B. IP Theft

Paper Planes -- M.I.A.

Based on Straight to Hell by The Clash.
Wow on the first. Was sure somebody would have taken that one.

As for the second, I own that record from Vinyl Me, Please even though I don't think there's anything remotely analog about it.

Accounting:

From The Hopper to Daytona to replace IP Theft, which has since moved on to the Main Event

Crayola Box (songs about or featuring colors)

From Daytona to the Main Event:

The Fjords (Scandinavian Music)

Hand Of Doom/Doom Metal (doom metal and stoner metal)

I have to admit, if we decide to axe a category, it should be Hand of Doom, unless we can get KP and Raging back to posting and selecting. None of us are experts in the whole Doom/Stoner Metal category. My knowledge begins and ends with the Kyuss/Fu Manchu/Queens Of The Stone Age stuff.

Dice Roll for Wednesday and Thursday:

22 - 432 - 666 - 684

Emerald Isle (songs from or about Ireland) (second roll)

Horror Show (songs that are horrorshows) (fourth roll)

Jerry and Carlos (songs by Jerry Garcia and band or Carlos Santana and band) (fourth roll)

Motor City (Detroit, baby) (sixth roll - last chance!)

I agree. My metal reserves are quite low.

More Accounting:

Moving from The Hopper to Daytona

The Remnants (undrafted songs by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and their members)

Feedback/Distortion/Reverb (songs with notable guitar effects)
