Getcha passports ready - the middle-aged dummies are going to the British Isles! Top 31 song countdown. (7 Viewers)

Totally whiffed on Sweet - made me smile seeing them selected. Ballroom Blitz is a fun song.
I've heard this song before, but before 3 minutes ago couldn't tell you anything beyond that. **heart** By far the best new to me so far.

Listen to their greatest hits in 29 more days - they’ve got several great songs. Just a lot of fun. Good driving music.

It was 60/40 picking Ballroom Blitz over their other hit.

Pretty sure I know which song you mean but from looking at their discography it appears they have about 4-5 US top-10 hits

This round was tough to pick out "favorites" as they were all good. I'll try to pick a few that stood out:

Known:

New Binky the Doormat:
More Than This - Roxy Music - so good

worrierking: Biology - Joe Jackson - love it

jwb: Cindy Incidentally – Faces - always forget about this gem

Sullie: Just Like Heaven - The Cure - top 3 Cure for me

The Dreaded Marco: I Wanna Be Adored - The Stone Roses - more heroin please

simsarge: No Matter What – Badfinger - not bad for a Beatles cover band

Mt. Man: I Will Follow - U2 - wrestled with this and two others for my U2 song

Eephus: Missing - Everything But The Girl - forgot about this song, it's lovely

rockaction: Paper Planes - M.I.A. - my daughters wore this out so I couldn't help liking it, they freaked when I played the Clash rip

Ilov80s: Love is a Stranger – Eurythmics - just glad to see them get some love, I'm sure they'll be more

krista4: No One Is To Blame – Howard Jones - was in and out of my top 31 and then last 5 not to make either :kicksrock: Shout out to Phil Collins

Not Know:

DrIanMalcolm: Got A Right To Be Wrong - Joss Stone - 2nd listen got me

shuke: Repent Walpurgis - Procol Harum - liked it very much, saw "Warpigs" at first and then heard it and was :loco:

Westerberg: Starry Eyes - The Records - who are these guys?

Mrs. Eephus: The Lebanon - The Human League - only familiar with a few songs from them, hope this opens up more

Ok, carry on chaps.

I only know three Sweet songs off the top of my head, and song #3 is a distant third.

This. I won't spotlight, but there's an Obvious other song for them.

And thanks for all the Hollies love today - I was humming this song the other day, and Mrs. R wanted to know what it was and I was "Umm... CCR? Gimme a minute..."

The Desolation Boulevard LP is nothing but bangers. Their songwriter/producer team of Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn recorded dozens of hits for other artists in the 70s and 80s.

Been listening to The Sweet (had forgotten that was the official name) - some great songs. Little Willy :lmao: :lmao:

They were The Sweet until they were re-named Sweet after their first album. Their original name was The Sweetshop so it was a process of elimination.

Did they eventually become "Sw"?

They reversed the trend started getting longer names after the band broke up.

We'll see some more Long Cool Woman in a week or two, for sure.

The type of post we don't want to see. Please don't. :(

ETA: Don't mean to call anyone in particular, but please don't allude to songs coming up later on your own lists.

My bad. Sorry.

Well, I was starting to have hopes with my 7yo and her music. THEN we get to tonight and I was listening to some 2pters tonight, and we had these two events:

#1:
Her: Oh, I really like this song - can we add it to my playlist?? (she's obviously heard it before because she is humming and singing along)
Me (outloud): Of course!
Me (in my head): Yes, I would LOVE to add this @$#$#$(*& Elton John song to the GD playlist I have to listen to every day.

#2:
Her: wow, did that song get weird.
Me: You want to add that on your playlist?
Her: NO! it was weird. It sounded like a robot made that song

 I will give you one guess as to what song that was.

@KarmaPolice - I promise no curve balls from me tomorrow.

Are you suuuuuuuure about this?
Whoops! I didn't remember my order right. Better get ready for that 12-to-6, KP ⚾
I don't think we can top last night's shenanigans. I also don't want to guess - I listened to 30-40 minutes of George Michael last night after I said that.

For tonight's saxy time, here's a one hour loop of the Careless Whisper sax intro. My hair started to curl like Kenny G's after 15 minutes
