1. One of those movies everyone should see once... not because it is great (which it really isn't) but because it is so polarizing. Not a big fan of Kelly's directing. Jake G is great in it.

2. Great movie. Blown away the first time I saw it.

3. Hilarious.

4. Semi-classic comedy. Maybe not side-splitting but funny. Myers did a great job creating two great comedic characters.

1 and 2. I think I watched one episode of the miniseries. I am not a huge fan of westerns (although I know this isn't a typical western) so there has to be some sort of X factor for me to really like one. LD didn't grab me in any way. Did not read the book.

3. I was a big Split Enz fan back in the early 80s (True Colors-Waiata-Time and Tide). There are a couple of good songs on CH self-titled. "Don't Dream It's Over" was over produced and overplayed but it is a great piece of songwriting. I was really disappointed with Temple of Low Men and Woodface. Can't even think of one song off of those albums. Together Alone was a nice little comeback. Probably 4-5 very good songs off of that LP.

 
Honestly wouldn't have thought it, but we agree on a good 75% of the movies listed. How about some random bands:

1. Not a fan really. All of their songs are too damn similar. I'm sure it doesn't help that if you said you didn't like Back in Black at my junior high you were an instant pariah.

2. I'm not big on blues/southern rock. I'm sure they do a good job at what they do but not really my style.

3. Man, there is some stuff I absolutely love by SY. Sister and Daydream Nation are pretty great and I love Goo. There are tracks from the rest of their albums that are very good too. But there is a lot of their other stuff I find disjointed and/or hard to grab on to. And I don't think I've heard most of their stuff after Dirty.

4. This is another band with a long history and healthy discography that has somehow slipped under my radar. I've heard their "hits". But I don't think I could give an honest critique based solely on that.

5. Industrial isn't really my bag.* The NIN stuff I've heard I don't hate but it's not something I would have on my rotation. Although my wife likes "Closer" and says it's "sexy" so I keep it on my phone/spotify. :mellow:

6. Already covered the kinks.

*yet Ministry's "in case you didn't feel like showing up" (LP and video) is awesome.

Season 1 was excellent. So different from anything else on at the time. Still not sure how it got the green light considering the crap that the networks put out back then. TP really showed that you could make a TV drama that was "cinematic". I'd say that shows like the sopranos, wire, madmen, etc owe a lot to the success of TP. Annnnnnd then came season 2. I don't think I've ever seen a nose dive like that.

Never saw the movie

You should see Ronin. Given your comments on Heat and To Live and Die in L.A., you'd probably like it quite a bit.

Though it also suffers from the same problem Heat has, the action set pieces in the middle are so great (and the second half of the movie drags a bit), that the climax feels like a bit of a let down.

2. Very good. Could have been better without the Depp-Pacino love story.

3. Godfather II meets Saw

4. Genius blah blah blah....most of his work bore the teats off of me.

5. Pioneer etc but never really dug her.

1. Good but not great. Heavy handed and predicable. There's a message but I don't think they delivered it very well.

2. Very solid...but my opinion is based on their more popular songs. I don't know much about their catalog.

3. Liked it when I was like 9. Mary was a POA.

4. Talented guy but when he was popular I wasn't into that genre. Created some iconic grooves etc but his voice is suspect. Almost comes across as a novelty.

I don't think I own a dozen DVDs in total, but these are two of them. Both are great films. I relate more to D&C because I was 14 in 1976 and it nailed my personal experiences. American Grafitti is, by far, the best movie Lucas ever made.
