Welp, the diagnosis is officially "plaque psoriasis". I was like 90% sure that's what it was going to be.

The dermatologist recommends a pretty intense and long-term (like potentially life-long) treatment, which my primary care physician thinks may be overkill. I have an appointment with him on Monday to discuss. I'd rather not have to fork over a bunch of cash and do monthly injections. You probably see these commercials on TV showing folks enjoying the beach and going on hikes and stuff. That could be me!

More to come... and at least I know what it is and have some options.
Well, it will be lifelong, so there is that. Did he want to try conservative treatment first before the biologics? I'd push for conservative treatments, even doing the UV treatment to see if that helps before jumping with both feet into the biologics. Those can have serious side effects and life impacts since all of them are immunosuppressive drugs.

How are your joints? Do they feel arthritic at all?

Feel free to PM if you want, I have psoriasis as well as psoriatic arthritis. I am okay with creams and foam for my scalp, and then I take meloxicam for the PSA.
You can’t normally just jump to biologics (assuming this is with some kind of medical insurance). They have to bump you up from lesser medications to more significant medications with a justification.
No doubt, insurance wants to postpone footing the bill for biologics as long as possible.

Both my PCP and I are hesitant to just jump into the lifelong commitment of the biologic. I just got back from seeing him and he prescribed an oral steroid that he's hopeful will knock the outbreak out. My joints are absolutely fine, thankfully.

@General Malaise were you at Ringside last night?

How the hell did you know that?

Dammit. I was sitting behind you, haha. I thought I recognized you from the eat-off videos when you walked in but wasn't sure enough to go up to a stranger saying "Hi, I'm Scoresman!!" :lmao:

How's the back of my head looking these days?

My old man and I take each other out to eat at The Ringside for our birthdays. With a vegan for a wife currently, I almost never get a chance to dine at the steakhouses and it's hard to beat Ringside!

Onion ring, New York, garlic mash and two Breakside IPAs. Even gave me a dessert to go.

11/10 would smash again.

I would have loved to see the reaction if you'd just screamed, "General Malaise" at the top of your lungs.

The thought occurred to do or say something, but I've never liked walking up to people in restaurants when they are eating.

"Oh, hey Scoresman, from the internet. Let me introduce you to my dad who just got done telling me he misses Tom Petty doing the Super Bowl halftime show and wished our server was a 'broad' instead a fruity guy."

I boxed mine and took more than half home. The last time we were there, the waitress told me to heat up a cast iron skillet with some oil, crisp up the rings on both sides, then crack an egg or two in the middle of the rings and let it cook up. Then, top it all with some shredded cheese and she gave me some of the bacon bits and chives to take home. Incredible breakfast!

Plan on doing that again, but we don't have any eggs and I can't sell another kidney.

Yup. Incredible. Top 5 burger in Portland and that's saying something.

A while back I went into Tipsy McStagger's BBQ place in Louisiana and said "Is Tipsy here?" The staff looked at me like I had plaque psoriasis.

Did you all start dancing and spraying water out of a hose?

My dad was 5'11" most of my life. He's about 5'7" now. Really looking forward to the inevitable shrinkage headed my way, assuming I live that long.

Ribeye, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and split a salad. Everything was amazing. My wife got the wagyu, and that was incredible. Even the free bread they bring out stands out as really good.

Possibly my favorite exchange with anyone ever was Dodds telling me how big a fan he was while I was suspended from posting on his site.

I don't think that happens other places. "Mr. Burr, welcome to Denny's. We're very big fans. You, uh, you, you can't eat here. No, sir, you have to leave. Right now. Thanks. Love your work. Buh-bye."
