Welp, the diagnosis is officially "plaque psoriasis". I was like 90% sure that's what it was going to be.
The dermatologist recommends a pretty intense and long-term (like potentially life-long) treatment, which my primary care physician thinks may be overkill. I have an appointment with him on Monday to discuss. I'd rather not have to fork over a bunch of cash and do monthly injections. You probably see these commercials on TV showing folks enjoying the beach and going on hikes and stuff. That could be me!
More to come... and at least I know what it is and have some options.
Well, it will be lifelong, so there is that. Did he want to try conservative treatment first before the biologics? I'd push for conservative treatments, even doing the UV treatment to see if that helps before jumping with both feet into the biologics. Those can have serious side effects and life impacts since all of them are immunosuppressive drugs.
How are your joints? Do they feel arthritic at all?
Feel free to PM if you want, I have psoriasis as well as psoriatic arthritis. I am okay with creams and foam for my scalp, and then I take meloxicam for the PSA.
