Primary care pretty much ruled it out.
I thought they didn't know what it was?

If it's definitely ruled out, ok. Just seems an easyish attempted fix. And can't hurt.
He had a clue, but apparently it was wrong because the "strong *** meds" I've been on for over a week has done nothing.

But y'all are right, no downside with taking Benadryl; gonna give it a whirl tonight.

Dude....Benadryl was the immediate drug to take.

Right after cocaine.

Gosh I hope it's something as easy as this but I doubt it. I've had it for over a few weeks now.

Curious what type of rash it is. My daughter was getting a horrible rash about once a week that covered her entire legs and patches elsewhere. We were baffled, finally took her to a dermatologist. It was vasculitis, and we got it under control with a medication that she is not weening off of. Vasculitis can be a dangerous condition so she is also seeing a rheumatologist. Luckily this was isolated to blood vessels in her skin only and did not affect any internal organs.

Whoa, look at Mr. Technology here embedding entire posts. How'd you do that?

Whew, that had to have been really scary

Yes, it was a few months until we even had an idea of what it was.

Welp, the diagnosis is officially "plaque psoriasis". I was like 90% sure that's what it was going to be.

The dermatologist recommends a pretty intense and long-term (like potentially life-long) treatment, which my primary care physician thinks may be overkill. I have an appointment with him on Monday to discuss. I'd rather not have to fork over a bunch of cash and do monthly injections. You probably see these commercials on TV showing folks enjoying the beach and going on hikes and stuff. That could be me!

More to come... and at least I know what it is and have some options.

Knowing is half the battle

Do you think it's the plaque psoriasis that's held you back from surfing, hang-gliding and jumping into bodies of water off tall rocks like in the commercials? Will medication lead to you dancing in super markets with long, flowing skirts and laughing hysterically every time somebody whispers into your ear?

You better be leading a dancing flash mob through the brewery parking lot the next time I see you!!!

It did for me

@Osaurus
I took these from the beach in Laguna earlier this month. First is the balcony of a very nice beach front home. Second is the view their "guest" would have had. Very WTF moment.

Do you know how much those are worth? I do.

You want me to get one for you?
Can you?

I wish. Frisch's is our region's Big Boy chain. Has been a staple in southwest Ohio for decades. Bought by some out of town private equity group a few years ago and they just stopped paying their lease at a number of locations which has caused them to close.

No idea.

It was just the most bizarre thing to see from a beach. I should post the Pic that isn't zoomed in on it. Better emphasizes the randomness factor. I just started cracking up laughing, and my wife is sitting there going, "what's wrong with you?" Which I am used to.

What's wrong with ME? You're the one who isn't finding this amusing enough.

Dang. When you offered I thought you had a way to get one. Oh well.

I too am sad. Those would be stolen in LA. The seniors in my high school when I was a freshman tried to steal one from in front of the restaurant. They couldn’t get it off the base.

A few seniors and I stole one and put it out front of the school. It was not easy nor was it fun when the cops caught on and we had to play 'dodge 'em' at night. But we got it done, went home to sleep and arrived at school giddy with our prank. You'll never guess what was no longer there at the entrance of our HS. Guessing the cops sniffed it all out and the Big Boy was returned before any students even arrived in the morning.

I've had that off and on for a long time. Humera and ozempic got rid of it, but weren't cheap. At all.
Getting direct sunshine helps quite a bit. If I do keto type eating it also goes away for me. I've probably had less than three outbreaks the last few years and they were all very mild and gone within days. Before that, it was mainly a cosmetic issue. Only occasionally would the plaque get thick and painful. Any kind of typical cream will moisten it enough (over time) where you can peel it of. It will leave an angry red patch that will produce more quiet quickly, but can get you through a weekend at the beach.
Feel free to message if you want. I have had it for decades.i don't think it's a really big deal, but it is an autoimmune disorder whereby your immune system keeps excessively replacing injured skin that's what the plaque is: a bunch of dead skins layered up. Good luck

We stole one for our senior prank and after making it the guest of honor at a keg party we hoisted it onto the roof of our science building. One of our classmates ratted us out and we all got to enjoy a few days of in school suspension. Worth it.

My senior class in HS hung a gutted VW Bug from the top of a flagpole in front of the school. They also burned the “91” in the field where the senior pic for the yearbook was taken. The photo shows the dead grass nicely.

Well, it will be lifelong, so there is that. Did he want to try conservative treatment first before the biologics? I'd push for conservative treatments, even doing the UV treatment to see if that helps before jumping with both feet into the biologics. Those can have serious side effects and life impacts since all of them are immunosuppressive drugs.

How are your joints? Do they feel arthritic at all?

Feel free to PM if you want, I have psoriasis as well as psoriatic arthritis. I am okay with creams and foam for my scalp, and then I take meloxicam for the PSA.

You can’t normally just jump to biologics (assuming this is with some kind of medical insurance). They have to bump you up from lesser medications to more significant medications with a justification.
