Oh, I've been to all four before; I am speaking from experience (and personal preference, of course).

2013

I've been out of the house for three days at the Cowboys game and at a conference and have another deal tomorrow night. So AngryWife told me it would be best to be home with the family instead of going to happy hour. Then she ended up going out with her friend Kelly. I feel like I've been had.

See we want what we cant have, which in oregon means, college football, hot chicks, good chinese food and awesome bbq. All we have is hot dudes, weed and salmon.

Just received this email:

"As in the previous few years, the Cathcarts will host a wine tasting to select wines for this years Change of Watch. We would like to invite all hardworking Change of Watch Committee chairpersons to participate in this event and help select the liquid libations that will be served with dinner. Please bring your spouse and an appetizer to share."

Didn't realize I'd moved into SLB's neighborhood. :excited:
If they have a fishbowl to put your keys in when you arrive, run...don't walk to the open molly bar.

1. Rooting for the Mets so all the Dodgerdicks on FB will shut up.

2. I really want to root for the Cubs but ever since watching the 30 for 30 about Steve Bartman and finding out that there are people that are still butthurt about it I'm not sure.

Watch us score 4 in the ninth.

On the bright side I did eat a chicken fried steak tonight. And while doing so it occurred to me that the only calories I had had since Sunday night until then were all beer calories.

Seems like something I should post here.

Out of curiosity, are you TX people in here Rangers or Astros fans?

I'm thinking of buying WS tickets right now in the event the Cubs make it, but will not be buying in Chicago where the current getting-in-the-door price is $2400 per ticket.
Take your pick, I think. Cos and Ig and I are Astros fans, bentley (and Uni and Stu, I think) are Rangers fans.

I think there are a few Ranger fans but most of us root, root, root for the Astros.Never mind. Kev knows better than I.
 In our house we are Astros fans when it comes to the AL.
Based on years of tradition?

Based on one of Mr krista's friends being their head of scouting.

Well within your price range. Hell, it's well within my price range, as the Cubs - don't let this get around - don't make it to the WS too often :oldunsure:

Also, as someone who's been to every MLB stadium at least once, the remaining five stadiums are all pretty nice, even the SkyDome which needs a renovation. Dodger Stadium and Kauffman are among the class of the league, and Wrigley is Wrigley. I am ambivalent about New Shea but they did a nice job with the Robinson rotunda and the amenities.

Woah, no ####? That's awesome. I've been to about half I think. but I'm also more minor league park centric. I've been to 50+ minor league parks. (Clearwater is my favorite, Dow Diamond 2nd).

Agree on Doyer Stadium, I think it is at least Wrigley's equal. The new Shea (been there) looks like Nats park, pretty cookie-cutter for me.

Not sure if I want to go to every park but my top five is...

1. PacBell (SF, whatever they call it now)

2. Kaufmann Stadium (KC)

3. Minnesota and Frosty are supergay Stadium (NTTATWWT)

4. Petco (SD)

5. Coors Field

Never been to Fenway, don't care to ever go. I grew up with Tiger Stadium (and went to old Yankee stadium) and I hate the Red Sox, no real draw for me there. Don't care to ever go to Arizona, Miami, Tampa, or Oakland.

Tons of minor league parks I want to see, like 30 I can think of.

Best movie that is constantly on cable: Whiplash. I must have watched this 5 times in the last two months.

And Chavez Ravine is a gem. Only bummed that Scully isn't announcing this postseason. Would have been a great last hurrah for a legend. If you don't like Vin Scully, you don't like baseball.

I was listening to sports talk radio yesterday and one of the hosts said that he would be fine with a female GM for the Phillies because "women are more rational and she would be less likely to be emotional when making decisions."

I think he was being serious.

not wanting to see fenway makes no sense. it's awesome. az and oak are pretty bad. and petco sucks. the warehouse is cool, but the rest is all exposed cement, very unfriendly imho. coors field? never seen anything that makes it stand out, other than a giant outfield. why do you like it? your other 3 are awesome

Female Project Manager of our client: Yeah, I prefer the back door.

Me and My Boss:  :oldunsure:
I was having a text conversation with a professional (female) colleague in another state and the subject of the debate/politics came up. She sent "texans really like bush, don't they?"

My boss at my previous employer is 86 years old now. He was a vice President of Philadelphia Life way back in the day and started his own retirement business about 40 years ago. Great guy, old fashioned man of his word type guy. Very loyal. His wife left him about 30 years ago even though he not only worked, but came home and cooked dinner and paid for a housekeeper. Thanks to NJ divorce laws back then and a judge who didn't exactly like men, he got crushed in the divorce. His kids took his side through the whole thing.

Anyway, the business has pretty much been his life since then. My MIL works for him and when she had a stroke almost 2 years ago, he kept her on the insurance despite her not working. She's now back part time and he still pays her full insurance premium.

Found out he's retiring and most likely selling the business to his VP (there's 4 employees including the owner and my MIL). His one condition is the VP keep my MIL on the insurance for 2 years.

I've always said that if he ever decided to sell the company that he would be dead within a year. Pretty much all of his friends are dead and all of his brothers and sisters he was close to are dead as well. His granddaughter lives thousands of miles away. Bummed to find out that he's decided that when he sells the company he's going to finish out his meds and then just not refill them. :( Said he is lonely and goes days without talking to anyone if he doesn't go into the office. Getting that old has to suck if you don't have a lot of family around to spend time with you.

Fenway and Wrigley are awesome. Petco sucks or maybe it's just the boring team and laid back fans that ruin it.
I went to Fenway at the peak of decay (1999) when they old ownership group was trying to get a new park. I came away unimpressed, but I am fully aware that I really need to get back.

I'm biased about Wrigley. Even though I turned my back on the Cubs many years ago, the place is still special to me. First MLB experience, plus countless other times there with family and/or friends, has it ingrained into my baseball psyche. To this day, when walking up into the box seats, the moment I see that field, the world around me stops for a second and I'm that 6yo kid again seeing it for the first time.

PetCo was fine. Nothing special when compared to other new stadiums I've been to. Do like the Tony Gwynn park out beyond left field and think it will make for a great postseason atmosphere if they could every find their way into it. It also has a nice 'part of the community' feel to it with the Gaslamp right in its shadow.

Coors is awesome. Fenway is a dump. Really liked Comerica too. Really need to get to Wrigley, Miller, and Kaufmann. Kind of embarrassing I haven't been to any of those.

First time I went to Fenway I was all like oh man this rules Ty Cobb played here and stuff like that and the history and seeing the Green Monster in person (Ian Kinsler jacked one over it for the Rangers) was fantastic for a baseball nerd. The second I went I was like man this place is a dump.

I assume Fenway is a huge dump like Wrigley?

Both need to be torn down and replaced IMO
I liked my experiences at Fenway, but those seats were built for small people of the early 1900s and not bloated obese people of the modern era. It's like sitting in a pre-school chair for 3 hours.
