make as much noise as you want/can on ####### joe.   kick that #### up the chain as far as you can  in my experience dealing with my lovely school district, it's all about passing the buck.  kick it up the chain until you have someone that can actually make a decision.

This. Hawks you are doing the right thing. If this picture was a joke, first time Joe did anything etc that's one things. But by all accounts he's an ### hole who needs to learn.

So when my son gets in the car he he tells my wife that Joe drew a picture of him shooting my son, tells my son that this is him shooting my son. Joe then proceeds to show the entire class the picture and tell them it's Joe shooting my son. To this point we have just old my son to ignore Joe, not engage him and keep doing whatever he is doing at the moment. So my son ignores what Joe shows him, thankfully another kid in the class tells the teacher and Joe is gone for the rest of the day. My son tells us this kid has BB gun but not sure about anything else. It seems like this kid has completely focused/obsesses over my son.

We call the school as soon as my wife gets home and talks to the principal, who has to wait to to talk to the superintendent before they can tell us what the course of action is. We decide to talk to the cops about the situation, see what we should do in this situation. Wind up filing a report with them, they call Joe's parents, where we find out they do in fact have guns in the house and they may wind up doing an investigation based on the school does. We at least have a documentation trail if things continue to escalate.

The superintendent calls me back and we discuss the situation, Joe is suspended until the investigation is complete and they will let us know when and what the outcome will be. Also, I requested that Joe be put into another class for the remainder of the year, if that won't happen we will ask that our son be moved to another class.

So GMTAN is this over reaction, ok but a little over reaction, similar to what you would have done or under reaction and go scorched earth?

That sucks.  Totally appropriate to tell the school.  Not sure about the cops, but I guess based on the school's history of dealing with this kid it was the right call.

I think I mentioned a couple of days ago that the HR (today's version of Hitler's SS) rumbled in and hacked both the president of my company AND the operations manager. Anyway, the Nazis offered me a healthy "stay bonus". Like, way up in 5 figures. But I have to stay in "good standing" for 6 months. I feel like a whore for considering it, since the guys they fired are two of the best friends I've ever had. Both dudes that got fired told me to take the money.

Oh, and found out my entire HVAC system needs to be replaced. Yay, me!

Sucks about your friends, but I'm not sure why you're upset that the company is offering you money to retain you.

If you're not in good standing after 6 months, do you have to pay the bonus back?  Did you get clear communication in writing what the expectations are for "good standing"?

You're handling the "Joe" issue way better than I would.   He's 11 years old?  "Joe" would have got his cochlear implants knocked across the street by now(and I'd probably be incarcerated).  Full disclosure:  I know that's an overreaction, but I was mildly(compared to what you're talking about) bullied at around the same age and it was just a ####ty, ####ty period for almost a year.  Vowed I wouldn't allow my kids to go through that if I could help it.

Bullying is probably the biggest form of douchey-ness I can think of, and I don't care if it's just a kid acting our for other reasons.  "Joe" clearly needs his ### kicked in some form or fashion, but it doesn't look like it'll be happening at home.  If you're kid can take him....I'd give the old "You are free to handle this however you wish, but know you'll probably be in trouble at school if you knock him down.  You will NOT be getting in trouble at home if you go that route, however" speech.

For his parents to continue to give him the kid gloves treatment after that drawing(if they are still doing that) is inexcusable.  They need to be all over that sort of crap in it's pupal stages.

What you're doing is probably a far, far better way to deal with it.  Bullies/bullying just push every single one of my buttons. 

 
Shuke, I don't get the bonus for 6 months so I don't have to pay it back - just have to wait for it (btw, I asked for a % up front, but haven't heard back). After that, I can jump if I want to. As far as "good standing" goes, I guess that's loose but they need me more than I need them for the next few months. 

 
In other news, I have a date tomorrow. I haven't met her before, but I like the words that come out of her keyboard. It's hard where I live to find the type of women I'm attracted to. Her photos are pretty and she writes well.

Thanks and trust me I would love to have him take care of business with this kid. However to this point there has not been any physical interaction between them and I want to keep it that way. Joe's dad told the cops on Friday that my older son (6th grade 12 year old that looks like he's 15) and younger son pick on him and his friend all the time outside of school, which is pretty impossible as my two sons don't hang out with each other outside of school. The older one hangs out with his friends and don't mingle with the 5th graders anymore, been like this since last summer, so it's a load of #### and another example of enablement. Also found out that Joe showed an unlabeled picture of two stick figures, one being shot by the other, and told my son that it was him shooting my son. And then proceeded to tell the class that's what it was.

We find out on Monday/Tuesday what the investigation results are and final punishment. I've already requested that Joe be removed from my son's class and am hopeful that doesn't result in further escalation.

So one of the local news channels posted on FB that there was a shooting outside Chuck E Cheese (not a big surprise).  My 80-year-old mother comments "those singing bears can be really annoying". :lmao:

I need to get ahold of myself. I have zero recollection of writing this. I'm surprised it was as lucid as it was. 

Meeting her at around noon at a local sports bar (her call, not mine - I suspect friends of hers will be scattered incognito about the place to either make sure I'm not gonna axe-murder her or that they're going to gang up and axe-murder ME....the perils of on-line dating). I think she's charmed by me so far (don't hold that against her as I think she's really intelligent otherwise). I'm trying to decide whether to wear something casual (NOT on the offdee scale) or go full-on tropical since we've had many chats of chucking it all and selling conch shells in Key Largo. It is 22 degrees here right now.

 
First camp out of the season with the Scouts was this weekend. Our lovely springtime weather included temperatures ranging from 28 to a balmy 35, and a nice little bout of hail as we were setting up camp. Noice.

On the bright side, this was the most attentive I've ever seen a group of first year scouts when they learned to start a sustainable fire with no more than three matches.

BTW ...its she writes "good" not she writes "well."  :D

 
Why do they even sometimes call them escorts, anyway?  We all know what's really going down.

(I suppose they "escort" penii into their no-no areas, but that's kind of arguing semantics, right?)

Me, either. This woman spent three years talking to other ladies who are providers before she jumped in. She's got a business plan and a monetary goal in mind. It's odd to me, but she's killing it so far.

Hawks... so sorry you and Jr are going through this... jfc. I've got a 4 and an 8yo- if I heard anything like the first part of the story, we would have acted exactly how you acted. but talk and pictures of shooting your son along with weapons at Joe's house?! ####### scorched earth. That said, you've handled it fantastically well, IMO. you HAVE to call the cops at that point, particularly if there aren't immediate answers from the school. I tend to be too conciliatory about things so my first thought was "talk to the parents and explain/figure out wtf is going on" so there's no he said/they said bs. but ####### guns and shooting? #### that kid and his family. and even if Joe's story has any validity- kid and his family need to learn that things need to be dealt with properly/civilly- not with escalating nasty pranks and talk of homicide. wtf. you and yours did right and they were all kinds of wrong.
