Roy Rogers just reopened the restaurant for the first time in 30 years in New Jersey OMG
My wife and son had to drive on that road on the day of the opening and said that the RR was mobbed. Police having to direct traffic and all that.

Those were my hangouts back in the day. There was one near my school, my house, my friend's house and in the town where the coolest record stores were. My group of friends spent a lot of time in those four locations throughout high school -- we would grab a table in a far corner, stuff our face with Double R Bar burgers and shoot the sh!t for hours.

I'll check it out in a few months after the frenzy dies down.

Where in/around the mall was it? I grew up on the PA side so I never set foot in Deptford until well after RR left the area.

Well I haven't been there in years so not sure what the mall looks like now. But back then there was no food court. Just a Farrells by the entrance. Something else and Roys was second floor in the middle of the mall. It looked like a regular store front. We are talking late 70s into the latest 80s. God I'm old

Had a Roy’s at Neshaminy mall just up the road from far NE Philly. It had the barrel seats and everything. Fixins bar was basically my white trash salad bar.
I remember Neshaniny Mall, well the name anyway. It was our backup mall (or tier 2), after Oxford Valley. All my paperboy money (BCCT for the win) went to silk-screened tshirts. Moved away when I was 16, basically ending my mall days.

Oxford Valley mall was our swanky mall and further up the road. I remember it had a spiral ramp between floors in the middle of the mall. It also had a Farrell’s too which was awesome.

Ha! I'll bring it down a notch and shout out Village Mall in Horsham. There was not much to it, but for a pizza joint where you could watch a guy spin the dough. Can't remember the name of the place.

my kid didn't believe Ish Kabibble was real

I need to understand how Ish Kabibble came up in conversation.
long story is when my kid says something that i didn't understand, or can't make sense of, i reply "you know, i went to school with/grew up with/worked with (word that i misunderstood, which can usually be related to a name that my brain connects to it)"

she was rattling something off about skateboards, and a bunch of other words that came out in such a blur that the only thing i understood was "ishtable".. or something. so i replied "you know, i used to work with Ish Kabibble"

she's had enough of my shtick at this point so she yelled back at me "ISH KABIBBLE ISN'T EVEN A REAL NAME!"

that sent us down the rabbit hole of the Borscht Belt and by the time i got to the Unknown Comic she just ran away

When I was growing up, my mom would say "oh, ish kabibble!" all the time. She used it as a synonym for "nonsense," "balderdash," etc.

My mom just swore like a civilized woman. She could have made Eddie Murphy blush.

Then she'd make us go to church every Sunday.

Same. My dad spoke a little Yiddish... Think it meant more along the lines of "what, me worry?"

My 19 yo got fired from the bikini coffee shop (No, I wasn't thrilled) for refusing to flirt with the customers (OK, maybe I did something right) and is apparently now spending the summer sitting on her ### in the good old US of A.

I'm mildly... impressed? Surprised? She has a very transactional view of everything and is incredibly driven by money. I was getting worried the coffee shop might be a first step down a path to dropping college, champagne rooms, etc. But apparently transactional only goes to the point of making an effort to pretend to like people.

She's so me it's terrifying.

I've noted this at least a few times in the Pet Peeves thread, but holy crap people.... do you really have ZERO self-awareness? Currently sitting a few feet from some 20-something kid that just got off a full-on speakerphone conversation with one of his buddies and is now currently watching a video at full-f'n volume on his phone.

And I'm not trying to get cute here; this is just a personal observation from MANY of these experiences, but 9 times out of 10 these idiots are not English-speakers. The current moron, I think, is speaking Russian or something eastern European.

I am soooo close to going Michael Douglas in Falling Down and grabbing someone's phone and chucking it. I'd probably just end up on Instagram as being a "Karen", though.

I'm gonna assume no one in this thread (or hopefully forum in general) does this. If you happen to, please stop.

You'd probably be more of an "Old Man Yells at Clouds" than a Karen.
