GM's thread about nothing (30 Viewers)

I've been with the same company since I was 22 so I've never had to do a formal application process for a job. I have the cover letter and resume but how does one answer salary requirements? Is it just a small paragraph on the cover letter stating something to the effect of "My requirements are in the $X to $X + 10K range"?

"Me take all the moneys."

No. Most companies worth a lick can look at your résumé and know where you fit in terms of $. It will come up early in the process. No need to call it out.

All interested candidates should submit cover letter, resume and wage requirements to HRDept@company.com

Ignore it. That's a dumb request and they are using it to weed out people. Get on linked in and find a recruiter for the company and go direct to them.

If it's like a field that you have to fill, you can put "negotiable", otherwise ignore.

Don't answer it with a number. Say something along the lines of you feel that your skillset and experience would bring a lot of value blah blah blah. They have a range of what they can pay. It's been budgeted and approved by a number of people. Your answer won't change that range, it will only let them know they can lowball you. I know it's hard, but don't be the first to give a number.

Thanks. It's a posting from Monster that I'm applying to. I imagine the protocol doesn't change regardless of the format. And looking at my cover letter from a while back, it's no wonder I didn't get any bites. Oof.

It does not. Look at this this way: if you put down a number, they'll know what you'll take. It's like showing your cards.
:goodposting:No way to win this by showing your hand first
My hand has 9 aces of the same suit.
In that case I bet nothing

Look at me:Had an interview today for a job I found on linked in. Turns out the recruiter went to my school and we have a lot of mutual friends. We talked for an hour and got to the wages part. I told him I made x plus health care and retirement. He replied "we can pay you about 3/4 of x with another 2/4 for on plan commissions. We cover health care but have no retirement. But...we should ipo in the next 24 months with a valuation somewhere in the high 9 figures. And you would be employee 320 or so. Still interested?" :excited:

So tonight was going awesome. Mrs. SLB made me a great dinner. Boys were good. Put them to bed, I'm rounding second when Cal comes down and says Dylan is crying. Go check on him and he can barely breath. He had a cough, but no big deal really. Mrs. SLB was going take him to the doctor tomorrow. Now he was coughing his head off. We gave him a breathing treatment a earlier too. Aw ####. I held in my arms in nothing but my underwear until the ambulance came. I didn't care about the chick ER people. Dylan and Mrs. SLB just left for the hospital. Cal says "nothing can happen to him. I would sell my soul to make him better." I can't believe Cal knew this concept but I'm impressed with the love.WIDE AWAKE

What is really weird is that I was thinking about two of my VGB's last night, that I haven't talked to in WAY too long. Almost made the call. One called me this morning, the other this evening. Not sure what this has to do with anything but it's still weird. Pep and myself were talking about this when it all went down.

Keeping you and Dylan in my thoughts, GB.

Got home from the movie (entertaining for a movie with no plot; several scenes in tribute to the original) and found another sixer on my porch from a different woman. Valentine's day is quickly becoming my favorite holiday. Leaving alcohol in exchange for nothing=awesome tradition. This is what a real holiday can build on.

Thanks guys. From the funny aspect, after the ENT's take him to the ambulance I throw on sweats and the shirt was the U of Hold-Em sweatshirt. The ENT guy looked at me very weird. :lmao:

"It's the next big thing."
I really wish it would have been. Cos is a good man. He wouldn't have just banked the dough. He would help a lot of people with it. I'm a better man for knowing him.
If his dad can survive brain damage, I'm sure the little guy can survive this. GL.
to be fair, it's easier for his dad to breathe with gills in the middle of his head.
:lmao:
