Another FF question. We had a three way tie in one division. Our tiebreaker rule is:

"The first tiebreaker for two teams tied for a playoff spot is head-to-head record. If the head-to-head record is tied, or if there are more than two teams in a tie, total points scored will be the next tiebreaker. If it's still tied, the team with the highest winning percentage in the division will advance. After that, it's a virtual coin toss."

Team A scored more than Team B who scored more than Team C during the regular season. Team C beat Team B in both matchups and split with Team A.

Team A obviously wins the division. I now see it as a two way tie between B and C, where C takes the second spot due to the sweep of B. But you could also read the rule to give B the second seed since they scored more.

No controversy yet, but I expect some.

A isn't really out of the equation. He has the same record as those two teams. Whenever more than two teams have the same record, total points is the tiebreaker.

Our league moved to decimal scoring this year to help with tiebreakers...so what happened....two teams scored exactly the same amount.

I agree that Team C should get it, but I also agree that the rules are not clear about breaking the division tie first, then breaking the wild card tie, as they are in the NFL.

The first sentence has to say "a" playoff spot because it only refers to situations when there are two tied teams. You can't really have two teams tied for two playoff spots. That's not true of the situation in the second sentence. You can have three teams tied for two spots. I don't think it's fair to make the inference you're making.

we had the same kind of thingwe changed our rules, in any tie head to head only matters if one team swept all other teams involvedif not then head to head is thrown out and teams are ordered by record, divison record, points for, and the top teams from that sort go

No, it's not.

The teams have identical records. They are tied.

Until a tiebreaker resolves the tie. Once Team A is deemed the winner of the tiebreaker, it is not longer tied with the other two teams. That's why it's called a tiebreaker. The "breaker" is really the important part of "tiebreaker".
