GM's thread about nothing (33 Viewers)

I may have mentioned that I hired two sales reps a month ago. This is their 4th week. The one with 9 years of acquisition experience is making 40-80 calls a day...he can handle the grind. The one that is more talkative and "marketing focused" is wandering around the office wondering what processes we have in place for finding leads and "warming them up, you know." I finally walked to his desk, opened a browser to Google.com and said, "here is the lead generation engine we use." The other guy laughed and went back to dialing. Walkaround guy is now cornering our (ineffective) "Marketing Director" to ask about upcoming events and marketing plans.
Ministry of Pain is working for you?

On the road in Dallas today. Did a phone interview for our writing opening, sat in on a couple calls related to marketing initiatives and did a presentation about our brand vision to the regional office staff. I also forgot to eat lunch which is probably why these martinis in the hotel bar taste so good.

Yesterday I had breakfast with the president of the local united way and a board member. I think my odds are pretty good for being on the board by the end of the summer.

I hope bob's pecker and everyone else's other parts are doing well.
:coffee:

Onward to Jasper, Silsbee, Lumberton and Vidor!
Also racist

Let hope our Blackhawks can wrap this up before I run out of Busch Lights
I have activated my new Blackhawks hoodie (all prior hoodies were lost in the Great Move of Aught 13), so I feel good about it.

I am trying to generate hatred for the Blues, but it's feeble. I'd still give a billion dollars to see all the Red Wings die in a fire, and I hope the Canucks are mowed down by a herpes bus, but if god doesn't exist and the Blackhawks lose this series, I wouldn't be upset if the Blues won it all.

Well said but I will only cheer for StL because of Bob

Is this some sort of reverse jinx where the whole team is crushed by the arch collapsing

LawnGuys: we have a tiny yard with two gigantic trees, one of which is some sort of pine-y thing. I've never dealt with pine needles before. Is this a job for a leaf blower? Obviously you can't rake those damn things up.

Just light the grass on fire, or replace it with the stuff they put on football fields. Don't think a leaf blower will get the job done.

I think your best play is to import a non-indigenous beetle to eat these.

They are maybe the worst thing about living in Seattle. I have 5 large pine trees in my yard, one of them enormous. I hate them, but they're so damn expensive to get cut down.

Why is it expensive? How tall are these pines? A billion?

 I feel the same way about the Cubs.

ETA

Super lame start time for two teams in the central time zone.

None of this is encouraging.

Probably best to just find a new house without pine trees.
Oh believe me, I've already been looking. :)

Well now I'm kind of mad at you.

One of our cats is missing. I've been looking for him for 30 minutes and have tried all the usual tricks. He gone. :(

between 80 and 120 feet or so. Big, thick trees with massive amounts of branches, and not a big area to fell them in. Had one bid to get them out come in at around 7k. Taking one out and trimming the branches up 50 feet or so was around 2k. Just one bid, but I was not impressed. Maybe pine needles aren't so bad.

Fargo's pretty good.
Never been myself.
I've been to the Taco Johns in Fargo.
Sounds nice.
You could order a six-pack and a pound, and get any mix of the six pack you wanted.

I didn't, but I could have if I wanted to.

I wish I could tell you more but we drove from Moorehead into Fargo, got tacos, and drove back to Moorehead.
Whoa, I've been to that Taco Johns too :tinfoilhat:

The HoJo is nice. Nice restaurant, bar with like 10 craft beers on tap, OTB and blackjack in the basement

Dylan had his first baseball game of the year tonight. They have a pitching machine but the rest of the rules are pretty close in that three strikes and your out with a maximum of five pitches. They can advance as many bases as they like too instead of only one base. Three outs and they switch too instead of every kid batting every inning which is really cool.

He went 5-5 and they won 11-2. There was even a play at the plate where he slid around the tag, popped up, looked at the ump for the safe call and got it. He clapped his hands once and and jogged off with a big smile on his face. He looked like a big leaguer which was super cool. This is the first time either of my boys has been on the winning side of an athletic contest. Pretty happy about this.

The potato ole's were extra good, don't you agree?

Sorry about your cat YSR. We had a cat once that was in indoor cat but every once in a while would disappear outside for a day or two and always come back. I figure it's like heroin.

Those were all that I finished. The rest made me want to vomit. But that could have just been the hangover

Oh and BFF called to tell me he finally sold his house. Happy and sad about this. He'll be moving out close to us which is better than great but his house, and where it was located, was super cool. He built the thing himself and it's out in the middle of nowhere so it saw dozens of drunkfests until the sun came up without a neighbor anywhere around. It's going to be great to have my buddy close again though so we can hang more.

:( I'm so sorry. Do you know how he got out?

Yeah, this is a big m'fer. I think regardless of anything I'm going to have to get it trimmed as it seems to be wending its way into an apartment building behind us.
