GM's thread about nothing (17 Viewers)

Soccer was much better this week. Yuke wore his shinguards and participated in the whole practice. He refused to play in the game altogether, but at least he didn't cry about it. At this point, I think we have the makings of a pretty good squad as long as the coaches' kids stay off the field. The other kids seem to know what they're doing.

Our ref today was doing his first game and I thought he was going to have a breakdown. He kept telling me "this is so much harder than I thought it would be." After every goal, there's a stoppage in play of at least a couple minutes while the coaches try to rally three players from each team to stay on the field and pointed in the right direction.
I gave you a pass last week, but honestly this whole league sounds pretty remedial. WTF? It's not like soccer is all that complicated of a game, and I doubt they're calling offsides.
These kids are all 3 years old. It is pretty remedial.
Oh crap, I thought they were a little older than that.

I find this whole Devon Still thing pretty fascinating. That the team in the NFL with the biggest reputation for being cheap is basically putting themselves and their insurance carrier on the hook for $1 million in addition to absorbing another $500k on the jersey sales is impressive enough. That people all over the world are buying these things at the rate they are is pretty remarkable.

tre!!

:hifive: championship!!
WE DID IT!
Pretty neat when your team era and whip in a 14 team league is 2.67 and 1.05. Also won OBP, Wins and Ks.
:hifive:
Nice job, boys. Paid Tre already....how would you like to be paid? Paypal, Check, hookers, drugs, land in Bakersfield...you name it.

Also, pretty pissed off at Rene...had no idea as I stopped caring about this league, but apparently he reached his innings max and continued to add pitchers to his roster to keep other teams from adding them. Pretty poor sportsmanship, IMO, even if it's not prohibited. It will be next year.

land in bakersfield?? :excited:

Floppinho's soccer team (aka, the little jamaican kid) racked up another win, which appears to be the most important thing to these kids. I guess it was the same with me and my friends too, but funny how relative distance of age and parenting can change perspective.

These guys are a few years older than Bentley's- so aren't in tears all the time, aren't distracted by butterflies, and actually made some passes this week. I also decided to be more involved (despite the league's recommendation to stay out of the kids' way) and holler specific recommendations to kids, rather than just continually shout for them to spread out.

Floppinho shows signs of improvement in his tenacity (terror-level alert: declawed kitten... a step up from last week's: bowl of warm milk) and was part of a 3 pass move that ended up in Jamaica scoring one of his 8 goals. It was actually a pretty nice play all around.

Most importantly, my kid doesn't hate the sport and is running around and improving each week.

I didn't catch it when he was doing it, but another owner brought it to my attention. I've never seen a team do it before, but maybe this is just strategy? Seems like a sneaky way to to compete and I will try to prohibit this in the future.

i've seen crap like that before. add and drop players so they're stuck on waivers, junk like that. lame, but technically within the rules. having both cy young winners (maybe) was pretty sweet, wasn't too concerned with picking up pitching ;)

Well, hopefully I can implement a rule for next year and beyond. I didn't know it was happening until today and wish the owner who let me know told me sooner.

Yeah, there really should be a way to disable that, but knowing yahoo, there probably isn't.

Go to Blind Bid style waivers
how would that prevent somebody who has used up their innings from adding a pitcher to their roster?

if we're implementing changes, allow same day pick ups

They still can, but this way everyone has a chance at getting the pitchers

Also if it's late in the season he may not want to spend those last few $ on them

I just took a shower (bite me, I work at home) and didn't realize there was no soap, so I had to use Mr. krista's body wash. Feeling a bit like I should pinch a waitress or belch or something now.

Yes, we've had the "do people still use soap instead of body wash" conversation here, and the answer is that you can have my Ivory® soap when you pry it out of my cold, dead, but surprisingly soft hands.

It was some sort of shampoo/bodywash-in-one, "made for men". Thought it was pretty well established here that adults use body wash.

Hey, the lady at the store yesterday told me that people steal their shopping carts and use them as BBQ grills. I thought of you. Maybe you could grill up some road kill this weekend and have some friends over to your overpass.

Also, I think there's a chance she's related to the Indian guy named, "Tyler Durden" who I spoke to on the phone a few weeks ago,.
