So the Slightly Stoopid/Cypress Hill show got cancelled last Friday. I found out at 4:30. Nice of them to let me know after I bought the ticket the day of the show. Its' being rescheduled for the 25th which is a Wednesday (blech).
We cancelled the limo and still got our party on, while attempting to decide what we were going to do later in the evening. Shots were flowing at a ridiculous pace. My friend Alex was in negotiations to buy a house. His agent was another friend, Stevie, who just happened to start drinking at lunch earlier in the day.
Stevie was trying to get the deal done at our pre-party, and it was quite fascinating to watch. There was an offer, and then a counter offer. Multiple beers and shots taken in between.
At one point Alex, who was visibly intoxicated, got upset with Stevie for not following his explicit, unreasonable, and drunken instructions, so Alex brazenly fired Stevie on the spot and attempted to hire another friend at the party to replace him. The only problem was that this friend (the new hire) didn't work in the industry, and had never bought a house.
More enlightened heads did prevail, and Alex rehired Stevie. The seller's final counter offer was 119,500. They were hoping to get it down to 118,500 but the seller wouldn't budge. I made the brilliant suggestion that the seller's agent pay for a limo the evening as a counter if they were holding to 119,500. Alex was enthusiastic about that and instructed Stevie to do his bidding as told.
So Stevie did and apparently the lady was pretty pissed off about it. Claimed it was unprofessional or some nonsense. Wouldn't return his calls for about an hour. They finally got a deal done for 119,500. After a long night of debauchery, I haven't heard yet if Alex remembered he had bought a house the previous day.
