GM's thread about nothing (43 Viewers)

The POD arrives today, I guess we really are moving. I'm having a pretty hard time getting psyched up about this.

In a completely unrelated note, Cal told me he wants to go to math camp this summer. I asked him if his school had a math camp and he said "no Google it, there has to be one around here some place." Pickles, thoughts?

I've started creating threads designed to attract the lowest common denominator each weekday I can.

Not sure it's working at containing the nonsense, but it's worth a shot.

Wait, what? I obviously missed something somewhere. You're moving? Why?

Over the weekend, I killed a big spider that was near my front door. I like spiders and realize that they do a good thing by killing insects and what not but with people and my dog in the house, this spider had to go. Anyway, I swatted him with a rolled up newspaper and as soon as I hit him, all these little black dots hit the floor and wall. It took maybe 2 seconds to realize what they were.....BABIES!!!!

I ended up sweeping the "dots" out the front door quickly and I was actually felt bad for killing the mother spider.

The boys go to a private school right now but Cal needs more services than they can provide. The public schools around here are horrid so we are moving into a better school district. I'm not even sure wtf we are moving right now, I just want to get this house sold. I ran to the hardware store to get some twine and I got a sic feeling in my gut seeing the POD in my driveway. I love this house and neighborhood and don't want to move. Of course there isn't a choice between a material thing and my son. We are meeting tomorrow at 1 to see what the Special School District has to say about even more testing he has been going through. He is a really sharp kid with a high IQ to prove it. Last week we were told by the SSD that they believe he has Asperger's but that they needed to analyze all of the testing more.

I did this a year ago or so. Stepped onto a spider and it looked like it turned into about 30 tiny spiders scattering everywhere. Can't tell you how frightened I was. My wife still doesn't believe this happened.

It's amazing how much that school stuff starts to matter. We have an elementary school in the neighborhood, but the middle school and high school are awful. So we've pretty much got a hard move date regardless of how much we love the house and neighbors, conditions of the market, etc.

can't imagine there are a lot of successful math camps around. good at math and good at camping sounds more like a venn diatram than a market segment.

Some day, when I'm a billionaire, I'm opening a restaurant called Straight Line Pizza (serving long, narrow pizza by the inch, just so I can meet the entire FFA in person as they make their pilgrimage. The price, of course, will be $-5^2 per foot. It'll be interesting to see if the die-hard "+25" folks will hold to their position when they realize they could be getting paid for eating the pizza.

When we bought this house it was pretty dicey on if we would ever even have kids so the public schools didn't even register on the radar.

I met my first girlfriend at math camp.Went to her prom several years later. I see her every few years.

If we ever could land in the same location, we'd be married right now.

IT'S NOT A ####### UNIBROW THERE'S A ####### NATURAL GAP!
Sorry GB, I kind of go into a trance like state and have little control over my hands when I'm drawing.
what happens at math camp?also, what other types of camps are there?
Math I hope. Whenever he is trying to slide one past me he starts with "Daddy, don't you think it would be a good idea if..." This time it just happened to be math camp. He'll be 7 in a couple of weeks and wants to learn multiplication and division.

I don't think you need to go away to camp to learn basic math, unless you're learning how many ounces are in a case of beer.

Just now I saw the Alien Neighbor out pulling weeds.

I walked out to say hi. He said he was cultivating his garden because he truly believes that the mind is more than just the brain, that it's part of the things around you, such as a garden. So he's weeding his future garden in order to keep his mind clear and ready...well, I'll admit he lost me here, but I'm pretty sure he wants to get rained on, #### on, scurried across, planted, seeded, eaten, and pissed on by deer.

You know what the biggest injustice in the country today is? How companies market "steak" sandwiches that are actually roast beef sandwiches. :hot:
And yet, I'll take the roast beef "steak" sandwich over those disgusting processed frozen slices some vendors make "steak" sandwiches with.
