Today the kids are learning about business/money/free market etc. We're watching a video on capitalism and how for-profit businesses usually provide better service/products than non-profits. There's a segment in the video on a company that trains and certifies life guards. The point is that because they're motivated to make a profit they do a better job than the Red Cross.
Any way...
Me: So this guy wants to do a good job so he can get more contracts. A contract with a country club might lead to a contract with a city parks and rec...
Girl: What? A country club?
Me: Excuse me?
Girl: Did you say 'country club'?
Me: Yes
Girl: Why would a country club have a pool?
Me:

Why wouldn't they?
Girl: So they have pools there?
Me: Well not all of them but the country clubs I've seen have swimming pools.
Girl: I don't get it. Why would they have pools there?
Me: (really freaking confused now) So people can swim. Why else would somebody have a pool.
Girl: That's really weird.
Me: Ummm...not really. What do you think people do at country clubs?
Girl: I dunno...dance, listen to bands, drink beer.
Me:  Kara? Do you think I mean a 'country bar' like Trout's in Oildale or the Crystal Palace?
Girl: Yeah. What are you talking about?
