On another note, as the communications guy I end up getting stuck on a lot of these "company spirit" committees. We're having a "50s" party at the office to celebrate 50,000 customers. When I asked if the party was going to be integrated or if we were going to force the blacks to throw their own party, people seemed mostly offended. That's funny, right?

Just saying hi. Still haven't moved and up until lately, I've been lazy about things.

Lately I've been painting cabinets and working on some things outside. Today, I worked in 100 degree heat on the back deck. I weighed in the morning and later, after quitting 8 hours later. I lost 8 pounds. This was after drinking 15 32 oz glasses of water. I finally filled my bladder enough to pee later in the night after 5 beers and another gallon of water or more.

Should have the house on the market by the first of July. My neighbor got a helluva price for his house last December, but since that point, my house lost 20k in comps from other sales. We'll see what happens. I don't have to move, but I'll be living her for a while if people offer anything less that $5k over the current comps.

I don't think I'm missing much as the fisheries board closed amberjack fishing for a ridiculous amount of time, on top of the absurdly short snapper season. I think I can be moved by the time amberjack opens back up, after hurricane season and when it's more feasible to go fishing again.

Got convinced to switch from cable to Direct TV this week at Sams. Install is next Saturday, so I've got a week to change my mind if I want to. I hate Time Warner with a passion and my monthly bill is going down, so I'm not sure how I would change my mind, but looking for thoughts.

I did this exact thing 3 weeks ago. Saving $50/mo for the first year, and $20/mo the second. The sales guy and manager didn't really know what they were talking about though, they said they had a wireless router, but they don't so I had to pay $50 for an install of it.

They also told me they had new technology that prevents 95% of signal loss due to storms. FAIL.... We had a loss of signal the second night, and another one last week.

They also talked me out of a second DVR for the bedroom because they said you could record 2 channels and watch a 3rd, unlike Time Warner. Another fail as it's exactly like Time Warner where you can only record 2 channels and have to watch one of those or something that's already been recorded.

Other than that it's ok, takes a bit to get used to.

I'm getting a bit more off than that, 4 free receivers (2 HD with DVR) plus 1 year free of NFL Sunday Ticket.

Yea I got that same package, except I got 1 HD DVR, 1 HD Box, and 2 regular boxes. Got the Sunday Ticket for a year, and all the movie channels for 3 mos. All for $79/mo

Oh yeah my brother and his wife SHARE a facebook account: "Gary N Diane Boyle" or whatever They are one of those couples that do EVERYTHING together from golfing to working out. A few years ago we went to a birthday party for my aunt and uncle who are twins. Some freaking genius had the brilliant idea to make it a theme party. You had a choice: You could dress up like my aunt or uncle or find a partner and dress as twins. I just put on a checkered shirt and some glasses and went as my uncle. My brother and his wife dressed as twins...both of them wore overalls with a red shirt. They showed up holding hands. Oh did I mention this party was in public at a bar/bowling alley? I told them both not to stand within 50 feet of me.

Mrs SLB and myself do everything together. Except sex of course.

Got a job offer from my second choice. Told them I would get back to them tomorrow afternoon. The money is fine, the commute is very reasonable. My first choice told me they would get back to me tomorrow. The money is similar, the commute is a little longer, but manageable.The second choice is a large public corporation based in Nashville. The first choice is a non-profit (but very successful) based here in Austin. What's the shark play here? Leaning toward waiting until about noon, then emailing the first choice to see what's up. What say you?

You should. I called last month because my bill had increased by about $5/month, and told them I was cancelling because the bill had gotten too high. I'm now getting $35/mo off my bill for two years (includes the HD credit). The lady I spoke with also told me to just call back when the discounts end and they'll do it again.

You should. I called last month because my bill had increased by about $5/month, and told them I was cancelling because the bill had gotten too high. I know you said the money is close but you're talking about 2 different cities. Have you looked at cost of living between the 2 cities? If it's still really close, I'd suggest calling, not e-mailing, the first job. If no go, then take the Nashville job. There's probably a lot more room for growth at the large public corp too compared to the non-profit.
