GM's thread about nothing (41 Viewers)

I haven't bought a pair of boxers for myself in years. I've bought some compression shorts for running, but boxers? Either my wife, ex-wife or gf past and present* are responsible for 100% of my non-workout related underwear. *just joking!
Understand, I will find a girlfriend ASAP.
I make it 8-5 rickyjgo finds a girlfriend to buy him underwear before I do.
Why would you buy him underwear?

Who in the hell schedules a conference call at 3pm on a Friday?

#firstworldproblems
Just got out of a meeting. Thanks for scheduling it on Friday!!!
Whenever we're interviewing candidates for a position in our department, my boss likes to schedule Friday meetings at 6 p.m. to have a group discussion about them. We all  this a lot.

Currently in the midst of an enormous family email brawl about - wait for it - the family reunion golf tournament. Over 60 emails in the last two days, a threatened second outlaw tournament, and relatives calling each other "classless pricks"#needadrink
don't dangle the carrot and then yank it awaypost the #######ed things
culling through 60 emails for the high points and explaining the dynamics would take some time. and i already started drinking.

Wifey got me kagerator for fathers day, which is pretty awesome. I was gonna pick up a keg on my way home from work today, when @ about 4:00 i got a phone call that they found my mom floating in the pool face down. She's ok now, i'm in the hospital sitting with her. Not sure what happened... she's a diabetic and seems to be having low blood count, whatever that means. Could have been a mini-stroke, could be any number of other things...probably related to cold water and low blood pressure.

Should be good to pick up keg tomorrow.

No doubt, that would have wrecked Father's Day. Seriously, glad she's OK.

kevzilla, did you take the job? Is this in here somewhere and I missed it?
I called HCA and took that job. Might take them two weeks to get their #### together. Meanwhile, called the other place and they assured me I am their first choice, they're jumping through hoops of red tape. When they offer me, then I'll have to actually make a decision. Either way, I'll have a job before my brokerage account melts away to nothing.

Thanks...we hope so too. I'm thinking sierra nevada or olde mecklenburg.

Hope your mom's okay Moleculo. That was scary to read the way you phrased it.

I just came home to find my mom and daughter frolicking happily in the backyard oblivious to the house being almost 100 degrees because the AC went out on a 103 degree day. Now every repair man is down for the day, booked on the weekend, charging emergency rates when they can't get here for 48 hours. Crap. Mom's an 84 year old diabetic and whether she likes it or not the Marriot is in her future this weekend. My shirt is wet and stinky. Gonna go see if I can repair it. No idea where to start. Any HVACers around here wanna walk me through this.

It is completely dead. Breakers and fuses look fine. A filter got sucked into the intake vent, but removing it doesn't get it started again.

Very :hot:

Thanks GM for the restaurant recommendation. I'll check it out.

So we've got our first real stretch of nice weather in 2011 and I've got strep. FML

When I was a kid my father coached football at a Catholic high school. The one huge advantage was mass with the team before the game. Literally in and out in under 20 minutes. Welcome, reading, reading, gospel, communion, "go out and win today men!" First Sunday of every football season my mother would try to get us to go to mass, and me and my brothers were flying out the door to play, "no way ma, we went to mass yesterday!"Now my mother goes to mass 3x a week and my father hates everything about the church and that school. Bunch of frauds. And I still effectively use the "I went yesterday" story with my mom.
20 minutes is awesome. Back when I actually used to go to Mass everybody knew that the shortest one in town was the 9:00am one at OLPH (our lady of perpetual help...or old lady's poker house haw haw haw). I think it averaged right around 30 mins. If you had any plans for Sunday you went to that Mass. You would see trucks in the parking lot with boats or motorcycles on trailers.

Swear to God I didn't read that as "frolicking" at first... :bag:As far as the AC goes, good luck. Could be a bad breaker - try throwing it on/off a few times and see if that helps. If not, it's likely something with the compressor motor, which would suck. Hope it's just a bad breaker.

Man, growing up Catholic sounds like teh suck. I thought I had it bad as a Presbyterian, but am realizing this was Diet Religion compared to the Cathies.

Went to a Catholic wedding last summer in Detroit. It was a BIG wedding - wife's family. When it was time for communion, the ENTIRE f'n church lined up for bread and wine. I mean everybody was getting up in line. Even the 91 year old grandfather with an oxygen tank. Took about 10 minutes to feed everybody. Only two guys remained seated. Me and Uncle Eddy. And yes, Uncle Eddy is every bit as awesome as he sounds. Was a little worried my wife's parents would say something to my wife about me staying seated, but nothing was said.

My mom wanted me and the boys to go to church last Sunday for Pentacostal Sunday (wear red, she said!) and then to a post-church picnic. I passed. She was not pleased. I'm good for church once or maybe twice a year to make her happy, but I'm done with church picnics for life.
The only good thing about the religion is getting drunk at the functions.
Presbyterians aren't much for the drink. They made the switch from wine to grape juice.
I have a cousin that likes to say "if I had to choose a religion, I would choose Catholicism. It really isn't even close, they actually encourage you to drink, have sex and gamble."
My wife's church needs a priest who's more encouraging. :kicksrock:

SLB, my nephew went through the same thing at the Catholic school he went to. He has Aspbergers(sp?) and they finally asked my sister to take him out saying they couldn't "handle" him anymore. She put him in a special school. Needless to say she was pissed at the school.

All Yandek does in the FFA is post his interviews with D-List celebrities. Pot/kettle, or something like that.

(not an HVAC guy)I'd bet that your blower/fan moter is fried. When you put power to an electrical motor that is physically unable to rotate, they burn up.
