GM's thread about nothing (19 Viewers)

I almost got into the first barfight of my life this weekend... with a dude that was at least 25 years older than me. apparently when my friends and i have been drinking all day long, we become very obnoxious giant jenga players.

Just found out my school is going to have a teacher fantasy football league. How hard is a live draft? Do I want to do this? Do any of you guys work with me?
I would offer but I'm not that good, at all. But, the one live draft I ever did was the CHUG draft from here (Charlotte, NC and surrounding area). Everyone had laptops there, so it was assumed that we were all plugging names into the Draft Dominator, etc. In reality, I was IMing Swires every pick and having him tell me what to do.

I didn't make even make playoffs that year.
Well, there's your problem right there.

Figures. F'n Swires.

High schools don't let just anyone on campus, right?

I was clicking through some FB photos of younger high school alumni, and I got nostalgic. I want to visit my old campus and maybe sit in on few classes but I don't know how to go about arranging/requesting this without seeming like a creeper.

:(
I have former students dropping in all the time to say hi. But they are, you know, people I know, so it doesn't seem weird. If they hang around long enough, I put them to work. I can't really imagine just dropping in cold. How long have you been out of the asylum?
14 years
You should probably start posting more in the political threads. That hawt pic of the young girl's butt that is jon_mx's avatar? That's his daughter.

Hang with that crowd, and after awhile you won't feel creepy at all.
Yeah, that's what I want to do- discuss politics with these genius iPundits.

Yeah, I kind of just tuned out all the political threads the last (presidential) election cycle, and for a good year or two after that. Makes scanning the board go pretty fast when you screen all that crap out. But I guess around the time the WTC mosque threads ramped up I got sucked in.And exactly what you said, fairly quickly you realize 95% of those dolts are no more than a generation or two away from knuckle draggers. The other 5% are Christo-tools. It's one thing to laugh watching your dog chase it's tail in circles; when you jump in and start running with him, you've totally lost it.

So my brother and his wife, or as my father calls her, "his fat, lazy wife" are getting in town Wednesday for a week. I've never dreaded a family visit like this.
You will post about it here and we will all be thankful. I had an interesting weekend.
My mother telling my wife and sister on Saturday night that she could 'go for a joint right about now' and would like to try 'shrooms' was about the 4th most unusual thing that happened in my world this weekend.
Sweet. I recently found out my parents were "experimenting" with pot in the 80's, while I was at home babysitting my brother and sister.

Don't be that guy.

I kind of forgot about this until just now, but I actually something like this 20 years or so ago. I had been out of h.s. for 12 years, and ran into my old Assistant Principal for the first time in about 15 years. He was amazed 1) I was alive, 2) I wasn't a convicted felon, and 3) I had college degree and had become a CPA. Pretty sure I got suspended about 40 days my sophomore year. Skipping class, smoking, fighting, you name it. At one point I drove my car up on the high school lawn at night, lit up a doob and blew the smoke threw the screen into the principal's office. Still stunk the next morning (amazingly, this was NOT one of the things I got suspended for - never got caught).Anyway, he invite me to lunch, and eventually I went back to give a speech. Which went horribly by the way *(I suck at trying to motivate people). But it was fun.Anyway, EYLive, try to touch base with someone like your favorite coach or teacher. But don't just do the drop in.

What if I don't money or something? Then they'd have to show me around, right?

I think all my favorite teachers might be dead. I'll have to check the website for proper non-predator approach.

Speaking of high school...I have my 20th reunion coming up. Agenda:

Friday: football game against crosstown rival then have bar rented out

Saturday: semi-formal event

Sunday: family picnic

Seems a bit much, no?

When I was a kid, my Mom had a plant growing in the kitchen that looked a lot like pot but wasn't. For some reason, I was telling a friend about this in college at the same time my Mom was visiting me there. But I couldn't remember the name of the plant and asked my Mom, who then looked at me like she'd raised the dumbest child ever and said, "Krista, it was pot. I just told you that so we could fool your Grandma."

As most have gathered, I grew up in a very conservative Southern home. My parents grew up in even more conservative Southern homes. My mother is a sweet, petite, 65-year-old Southern lady.

When I was at home recently, we were talking about my super religious sister and for some reason, my father needed to share his prayer life with us, so there was the following:

YSRDad: I pray. I pray every day. I mean, I make a point to pray every morning in the shower.

YSRMom: What about the mornings when I join you?

YSR: :hitsfloor:

My 20th was this past weekend. It was a couple of hours in a bar.

:lmao: I remember my mom doing laundry one day, and she found an alligator clip in my brothers pocket. She just set it on the counter and kept folding clothes. My old man walks in asked her if she knows what it is. She says, yes, of course, it goes with an eyeglass chain.

My brother was the only kid in our family without glases. Plus it had all kinds of black and yellow burn marks on it. My dad just stood there open mouthed for about 20 seconds, turned around and walked out shaking his head.

His prayers were answered!!!!!

Just googled ### pennies. Almost all the results were a clip to that old Upright Citizens Brigade clip, which I'd seen. You guys acted like there were groups of people devoted to actually doing this.
Whatever helps you sleep through the night, guy.
Give me a link, tough guy.
Link? Go put your damn hands in a jar full of pennies, let it marinate for a good minute, then smell it. If it doesn't smell like butthole, I'll buy you a state.

One event a day isn't much. Will there be a key party at the end of each night?

I always thought you were like 8 years older than me. Turns out...we're the same age! :excited: My 20th is this year, but I'm not going to it. I was about as popular as a bag of lice.

Hi, my name is beer 30. The dog and I are the only males in our home, I have a 15 year old, a 10 year old and a lump of soul sucking flesh I refer to lovingly as the wife. I hate them all with the white hot passion of a thousand burning suns most of the time. I do a lot of yard work.

Yes....way too much. It's kind of creepy actually.

Speaking of dogs, I'm pretty sure our 13 year old beagle shepherd has gone completely deaf. I had noticed some loss of hearing over the past year, but after we put her in a kennel when we went on vacation, it seems completely gone. Is this something we need to have looked into, or just a sign of old age?
She's barely eating now. I give her one of those small milk bone biscuits every night and she's eating some scraps that end up on the floor from my daughter, but I haven't put food in her bowl for maybe 4 days. Also, she went pretty much all day the other day without showing any need to outside. :(

For a 20 year reunion?? It's awkward enough hanging out for one night, let alone 3 freaking days in a row with people you haven't seen in 5 or 10 years.

setting the over/under on number of people who leave with semi-serious injuries at 5
You really read that as meaning that the fat, bald 38 year-olds are gonna be playing in the football game?
