GM's thread about nothing (24 Viewers)

I'm having a 3/8 life crisis. We are planning to move to SC when we sell our house, and I have no idea what type of employment I want to seek. Have done sales and marketing in the past but not sure that's what I want to do. Feels really gross to be this unambitious.
Moving back home? IIRC you are from upstate? If not, and you end up in the low country, you should think about real estate. At least in Beaufort-Edisto-Hilton Head-Kiawah, e.g., the upscale golf areas, they weathered the storm pretty well. Always going to be demand for quality second home/retirement developments.
Yep, Greenville. It's home and I have a ton of networking contacts. I just feel like, "hey, I'm looking for a job and I am pretty smart, completely trainable and will work hard but I don't really know what I want to do... just looking for 35-50 hours a week with benefits" isn't my best schpeel. Mr. YSR will also be looking, but he could sell black ice to shuke, so I'm not too concerned about him.
I have a furniture job going on in Greenville that has had ongoing problems for the last month. I'll give you a hundred bucks to kick this gal in the groin.
I found out last night why this gal hasn't been responding to my e-mails. She has been in a coma since Friday. :bag:
Makes kicking her in the groin kind of pointless, but a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks...

After a nice little argument this morning, I realized I love Auburn football more than my wife. That's probably not a good thing.
Where does your daughter fall in the spectrum?

ETA: I'm callous, not an #######.

ETA2: Update on Sept 17th tickets?
 I think we have tickets. My folks have told me that they are working on it and a couple of people have said that we could have theirs. Regardless, we're going to tailgate and worst-case, watch the game via satellite in some redneck's tent.
I'll be at a tailgate starting fights with Clemson ######s.
Six #'s. Pretty sure we know what that word is.Meet the new South, same as the old South.
rooters?persons?

players?
Tiggers?
Pretty positive Clemson doesn't even let those people to set foot on the campus.

I'm have been listening to some old Hollywood Babble-On podcasts in the office, and Kevin Smith told a story that about made me fall out of my chair laughing. He said that he was talking to the head writer for Disney's Winnie the Pooh series and the guy had a joke that he wanted to put in, but Disney axed it immediately. He basically wanted Tigger to be doing something crazy, causing havoc and interupting Pooh's conversation, and Pooh just look at him and say, "Tigger please."I was crying I was laughing so hard thinking about how that would sound coming from Pooh.

I hope Peyton Manning's cervix is OK.
Before Joke Cop YSR jumps down my balls, I nicked this from Old Hoss Radbourn's awesome Twitter feed.
I  Old Hoss on twitter. The best account to follow out there.
Do you follow slashleen?  :wub:This Shinoda shtick is top-notch. I like this kid a lot and I don't even know who he is.
Yes, yes I do. There are quite a few women like her on twitter. And I try to follow them all.

Well, we sure don't pay them >$180,000 to do so.

On another note, as the communications guy I end up getting stuck on a lot of these "company spirit" committees. We're having a "50s" party at the office to celebrate 50,000 customers. When I asked if the party was going to be integrated or if we were going to force the blacks to throw their own party, people seemed mostly offended. That's funny, right?

post of the last several years, imo

Started getting sick a little last night with some sneezing. Slept fine.

However, I'm guessing tonight will suck. I hate being sick.

I saw a couple of Clemson ######s putting stickers on the paint of a nice Mercedes before the game a couple of years ago (2008?). The owner showed up, pointed out his Alabama tag to us since we stood by and did nothing, and then he got the cops involved. I just assumed they knew the guy when I saw it happening, but once we figured out he was one of us and not happy, I made sure to point out which of the Clemson ######s were responsible to the po-po.

As a fairly new father, it always amazes me at how Dungy seems so collected, given that he completely failed as a parent and his kid turned himself into a pinata.

snitches get stitches

So admittedly I'm more than a little disinterested this season...but basically Poulian (sp?) said he had no knowledge of Peyton needing another surgery, and then stated flatly they never had a timetable and nothing has changed, and now Manning had another procedure.

Is that about right?

Need a little assistance if anyone can...

I'm not much of a tv watcher, so any time new movies come out the only way I hear about them are generally a) trailers b) FFA or c) okay some movies you can't really miss on print or television ad, like Michael Bay movies, etc...

So, anyhow, my wife today suggests we go out to the movies this weekend and she said she would like to see Warrior.

linkage

okay, so at first glance, this does not come off looking like any movie my wife would want to see in a million years....so has anyone heard of this one? seen it? Mostly I'm afraid I'm going to have to deal with copious amounts of male full frontal nudity....and I'm not so sure I want to view that - last Tom Hardy movie I saw was "Bronson" and well, that had some uncomfortable scenes and we'll leave it at that.

TIA
I love fight/redemption movies. I will probably catch the matinee opening day (Friday). Advance reviews are quite good. Cannot believe your wife suggested it.

Damn, YSR, that was some kick you laid on her.

My kid started kindergarten last week. Today her classmate Nicholas told her he was going to punch her in the forehead. My kid ratted him out. Nicholas's response to the teacher was "it's just an expression."

I  Nicholas.

For fantasy reasons, I will be rooting for Aaron Rodgers to die early on in tonight's game. Hopefully in spectacular fashion.
:unsure:So inexplicably my draft is tomorrow night, and my league annoyingly refuses to do the draft picks until just before the draft so I don't know what my position is (24 team league with 12 in each conference and parallel drafts). Who are the consensus-y top 12 now? How high will Aaron Rodgers be after tonight (PPR, otherwise standard scoring)?I think I need to cram.

:jealous:what'd you eat?
Got some Blackened gator, boudin balls and fried bowtie pasta chips to split at the table. Then I had the Seafood Lasagna. Awesome!Add some pints to that... :P
boudin balls and blackened gator are my 2 favorite things there. Also, solid cheese fries. That restaurant never disappoints

:lmao: I actually puzzled for a second over a different word to use, but I just got home and am too tired and blue to worry about it.BTW, I think we are owed some stories from the Chicago cornhole(s) last weekend. With that kind of all-star cast there must be some great ones.

yeah, I'm a big fan. Need to try the cheese fries next time. Best part is the selection on tap (for a restaurant).

I was just at the store and decided to pick up some booze for my impending birthday. But I forgot the list I made from this thread. I was staring at bottle after bottle of tequilas, vodkas, rums and mixers and realized that I couldn't remember which ones were swill and which ones were good. All these names were swirling around in my head. I wish I could have phoned a friend or something. I managed to remember one vodka, Svedka. The rest, I'm afraid, is an epic fail. :(

Ended up being me, Aaron and TU on Friday night in Chicago getting drunk at some pub. Go see the Pearl Jam thread for some other stories for a handfull of us. good times

Car-Gate 2011 is over. Wife and I went to the dealer today and came home with a very solid, used Impala. Very clean. The one thing is that it's white.

I've already nicknamed it Car Ramrod.
