GM's thread about nothing (34 Viewers)

Bills are going to be my team this year. Last year, I had a soft spot for the Cleveland Hillises, but this year, I'm all about Fitzpatrick or Fitzgerald or Fitzinmyrectum or whatever he's called with All-World Fred Jackson, Stevie Wonder Johnson and my new favorite player Mark Chandler. :excited: :excited: :excited:

I just uncorked a larger than normal size wager on ONE NFL game this weekend. See if you can guess which one it is....Also, am I the only idiot who thought St. Louis Bob's NFL contest was ATS? :bag:
Buffalo Bills
   Am I crazy on this? I had them in week 1 against KC and LOVED that bet. I love this one even more...Oakland had to play in Denver late on Monday, fly back to the Bay Area at what I imagine was an awful hour, gets a short week and then has to fly all the way out to Buffalo, where fans should be going nuts after last week's performance and the visiting team locker room is (I'm told) so small they have to split the offense and defense up. The Raiders have been an outhouse of an organization for a decade, so I can't imagine they have some sort of goofy East Coast split that nullifies the logic here.
:holla:

Not this week. I've grown my facial hair out to match #14's.

A mad sinus headache & congestion had me hopped up on meds on the couch yesterday.

It got worse during the ND-Michigan game, so even though I was crazy yelling happy as ND went up 14-0, I popped two benedryl and settled in for a more mellow experience. The last thing I remember was ND being up 24-21 and Michigan trying to make a game of it, despite ND dominating them on both sides of the ball. Then I passed out.

I pretty sure I won here. ME = WINNING.
Wow.....I take 2 Benadryl, 2 Tylenol PM, and a 10mg Ambien every night before bed....... I still rarely sleep more than 5 hours, and definitely not a sound sleep.

:bag:
I took a triple dose of Nyquil and 4 OTC sleeping pills around 11:30 and was still wide awake at 2:30. :kicksrock:
How much coke are you people doing before this?

SB is selling the .5 for -135 which blows. (only place I am funded)

I've bet it anyway. or :bag:

There are a few other West to East 1pm games worthy of mention:

Arizona --> Washington (-4)

Seattle --> Pitt (-14)

but Buffalo is the choice offering imo.

So long as Dallas employs Tony Flaming Romo as their full time QB, I will not root for my hometown team. Officially done. Done done done and done. Danny White was a better QB than this. Steve Pelleur had more 4th quarter poise. Quincy Carter made less pressurized mistakes. Hell, I'd settle for Drew Henson or Chad Whatshisname that looks like Rocky Dennis (DON'T BAN ME FOR THAT).

I wasn't going to pay up for that. Just going to roll with it and hope this week, we get the bad Janikowski. Buffalo's defense looked very good on Sunday, though KC might have had a lot to do with that. For some reason, I kind of like Arizona, but heard on Colin Cowherd this morning that the wiseguys love the Redskins this week, so I might jump off this one.Man, 14.5 for the Steelers? Might have to put them in some teasers.

did they really reverse the USC game/bet?
:yes:as BobbySac pointed out, the best thing in the world that could have happened, did happen. I put it in online instead of at the window. The ticket would have been in the trash otherwise.
I had Utah +8.5 online...but told Bob earlier in the week that I really liked Utah at +9.5. Also told him I liked Michigan, but he most have ignored that lean.Anyhow, as I'm watching Michigan storm back, I see Utah driving for a game tying FG and I'm thinking "Man, I got this...only one way this thing gets blown up and that's a blocked kick return for a TD...what's the chance of that?" And of course, whatever slim odds those were mocked and laughed at me as the kick was returned and my account graded it as a 'loser'. But then, I get a gamebrake on ESPN and they say "The TD was called back on penalty and the final was 17-14!!!" :excited: :excited: Log into my account and BAM it's a winner. And Michigan is not only a threat to cover but win outright! :excited: :excited: :excited: Considering the amount of money I won on Wisconsin earlier, I'm having a banner day.Hit the sack, wake up and get a tweet that the f'n Pac-12 reversed the call. Account graded wager as a loser. My question is: What if I had wagered all that money in my account before they could reverse it? Would they have debited me some how?

Nice work by the Rangers trading A Gonzalez (along with Chris Young and the great Termel Sledge) for Eaton and Otsuka.
Now imagine if G.W. had signed off on that one....Seriously, how does this not get the scorn and resentment that the Sosa trade gets?
It got it's fair share of grief, but like I said earlier, Teixeria was to be the 1B for the next decade and Gonzalez had shown to be a great BA hitter and plus glove, but not the power. He was not going to pass Tex.With Daniels able to follow this up with The Teixeira Trade, Hamilton for Volquez, Murphy/Beltre for Gagne, getting Nelson Cruz as a throw in, etc. His wins in the hear and now have helped mask this trade a bit.

IMO, trading Danks for McCarthy hurts maybe more than losing Gonzalez.
Refresh my memory on this one...I thought Beltre signed with Texas as a free agent? Or was there another Beltre? I'm kind of lost.
Another Beltre. Engel. One of their more interesting prospects. 5-tool OF. He has been in the minors forever now, but is still only 21 years old.

Heading to Atlanta for a quick business tip. Any tips on places to eat? I'll be staying at the Westin in Buckhead.
I went a couple months ago and had some great Chicken and Waffles at "Thumbs up". I think if you go to Atlanta you have to get chicken and waffles.
:lmao: i'll put that on the 'maybe' list
Gold Club, IMO. Get the "Terrell"
i'll be with a female coworker... i'll throw it out there to see if she's interested, but this i'm assuming that it's unlikely.Any other suggestions?

The Sports Coordinator where I am going to be coaching baseball was a four year starter on the O-Line for BYU.

Any possible shtick I could throw out there when I have to discuss issues with him?

that's a scary proposition. You have to think that a lot of fine print has been added to the "Rules" section at a lot of these books. They can't open themselves up for something like this again. :trainwreck:

Yep, and the head coach collapsed and seized for a good 5 mins on the sideline. Fun.

It's not cool to like his show, but I love his gambling angles and enjoy his show more than most. It's great to have at least ONE radio personality who understands sports gambling, and make no mistake, he knows what he's talking about. I think he's got some legit sources to aid his show.

ooof. i heard about that, but i had no idea you guys lost at home to NMSU. That's brutal. Oregon St. lost at home to Sacramento St...that's worse. How's the coach?

Coach is fine, apparently he just suffers from seizures on occasion. It's happened twice before. They said it was stress/sun/dehydration related.

I've never heard him talk picks, but he always makes me want to cut my own ears off. Brutal.I don't ever listen to sports talk. There's literally nobody I like. Podcasts ftw.

You guys can actually listen to Cowherd? He really, really rubs me the wrong way. Captain Obvious but acts like he's a sports genius and might be the biggest blowhard I've ever heard, and god knows there are a lot of blowhards on sports talk radio.

Went and saw the movie "Bridesmaids" with my wife at the $3 theater that sells $8 22-oz beers in a bottle (Hammerhead....top 5 Oregon beer, IMO). We got a little baked before going and laughed hard more than a few times. I thought it was as funny as Hangover.

Also, the chick who played the lead? She's sneaky hot. What else has she done? Research purposes, of course.

Lastly, I told my wife I was going to get even fatter, shave off all my hair, exchange my contacts for glasses and start rocking this look.

So the Scarlett Johansson thread has me thinking of a business idea for Hollywood:

a "Glamour Shots" for bathroom nudie pics. The celebrity calls 24/7, you come over, proper lighting is set up, subtle makeup, decent camera phone, and there you go. A stylist on hand suggested the most flattering poses and use of everyday props.

Gold Jerry gold!!

I forgot to turn my phone off this AM when school started. It started to ring right in the middle of a class discussion. I silenced it right away and apologized. Then about 30 seconds later it started to buzz to let me know that I had a VM. A couple of kids said something like "you're phone's blowing up" "is that your girlfriend?".

I said "Ha, no...I'm married."

Another girl said "You can have both."

I told her "I've got 99 problems but..."

That sounds suspiciously like an offer.
