GM's thread about nothing (18 Viewers)

I need some help with my computer. My school just upgraded me to a new computer. I went from XP to 2007. On the oldie moldy XP, I had most of my documents hidden, so that I could just make them disappear for when I had a sub. And I forgot about that when they saved all my files onto a server and then ported them to this new one. Now I have no idea where any of my files are, if they even made it to this one. How can I show hidden files?
right click on the windows icon in lower left corner of screen and choose ExploreThen Click on Organize and select Folder and Search OptionsClick on the View tabFind the hidden files radio button
Thanks! Next question.. Where do files live on Windows 2007?
In Windows 2007 files still live in their house, but starting with Windows 2009 they're subletting an apartment until their credit score recovers. They are the 99%.

most everthing you need should be under your user name folder
The only thing this guy ported was whatever I had on the desktop, and he made a couple of copies of everything there. I can't find any of my files in the documents folder.

Search for a specific file name that you know should have been brought over. Make sure you're searching the whole computer and network if possible. When you get a hit, you should be able to move the file folder(s) wherever you want.

Nothing so far.

Tell the IT guy you need him to get all your old files onto a thumbdrive. Stat.

Hope he didn't delete everything when he thought it was transfered. I'll have to hunt him down tomorrow. He's long gone, and I'm going, too.

5 separate meetings today about us not shutting down. That's a whole lot of meetings about something that's not happening.

MOP is going to be so upset if this doesn't happen.
the reality here is that the problem isn't me being out of a job--I have several places I can land. if this thing shuts down, I'm leaning toward starting up something myself so that all of the people under me can pay their mortgages. I'm not really all that excited about that right now, but these are my people and I can't let them lose their jobs in this economy. It's a #### move by the higher ups to leave it uncertain, since I can have everything in place by the end of the year if need be. all these meetings have just exposed the fact that I'm willing to leave and take everyone with me.

I spent most of the workday Friday and today building a 76 slide, 100 minute magnum opus of a PowerPoint presentation on building PowerPoint presentations. That's after spending several hours storyboarding and building an outline last week. Sometimes I think my work may not result in a meaningful contribution to society.

Who's coming with me!!???
the Jerry MacGuireishness of the situation has not been lost on me. the least senior attorney accidentally caused this by directly asking the managing partner if we were shutting down--like he'd get an honest answer.the only one worth a damn is my paralegal and her goldfish.

Anyone in a league with someone who just loves to trade? And most of the time I'm not even sure he's trying to better his team, he just loves to trade. I typically have to reject one or two trade requests a week from this guy.

So far this week he's traded:

Crabtree for Steelers D

Boldin, Fred Davis, and Palmer for McNabb, Gore, and Cooley

Felix Jones for Hillis

Chris Johnson and Jordy Nelson for Steve Smith and Deangelo Williams

:lmao:

That is awesome. I'm going to have to pull that shtick one of these days.I don't have a guy like that, but I have a guy in my keeper league who, once he decides he wants someone on your team, will absolutely not stop until he gets him. If you tell him that the guys on his team won't get it done he'll ask you who, in the entire league, you would want and then go out and get that guy, just so he can trade you the guy you want to get the guy he wants. I also had him once call me 9 times in a 2 hour span trying to get someone from me, and the sad thing is I was out of town and drinking all day so I finally said yes.

He's actually quite impressive to watch.

Alcohol is like the quarterback of life. He gets too much credit when you're having a good time, and too much blame when you're not.

Actually, let me put this in order.

9/20 Wayne and Cutler for Newton and D Henderson

9/29 Fred Jackson, Josh Freeman, and Henderson for Chris Johnson, Boldin, and Crabtree

9/29 Newton and Nate Washington for Roethlisberger and Jordy Nelson

10/18 Crabtree for Steelers D

10/19 Boldin, Fred Davis, and Palmer for McNabb, Gore, and Cooley

10/24 Felix Jones for Hillis

10/24 Chris Johnson and Jordy Nelson for Steve Smith and Deangelo Williams

So wait, the guy will end up asking you what guy in the entire league you want, then go out and get him for you, so that he can can finally get this player he just can't live without?! Never heard of anything quite like that, hilarious, love it.

So, my 6 year old son has wet the bed now twice within the past week. Should I be concerned? We have been having some disciplinary issues with him lately. He's always been somewhat hyperactive, but recently it is almost out of control, like he can't relax or sit still some times. It gets exasperated at times because my wife has chronic migraines, and his loudness/craziness is just too much for my wife to handle at times.
It's not so much the bed wetting that disturbs me, it's the arson and animal mutilation.

:lmao:Was in a league with a guy like this one year. Offered me a trade at least 3x per week.

I got my flu shot last Monday. I did feel sick for a few days, but feel fine now. I started getting them about five years ago because I have a lot of students hopping back and forth to Mexico every week. I also have an industrial sized bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk. Same reason.
I'm pretty convinced this is the worst possible thing you can do.
Teach Mexicans?

shuke - I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. Maybe have a talk with him see how he's doing if anything is bothering him. Be supportive, don't make a big deal out of it. If it continues it may be something. My eldest had similar issues from time to time and it passed.
I talked to him, and he seems to be doing fine. Everyting good at school, not getting in trouble there or anything. We just got done with soccer season, where he was probably the least aggressive and least productive player on the team, but that stuff doesn't seem to phase him.
Start making him wear slacks. Confidence should skyrocket.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: My mom made we wear slacks in first grade. Sucked so bad.
Worse than Tanner's red slacks?

PSA for anyone who likes money: Nicaragua.

I put our house up for rental five days ago. Five days. We already have solid inquiries + paid rentals for about four months worth of rentals. Just to do the Nicaraguan math...we pay less than $500/month paying above average wages for our property manager, cleaning person, and also utilities and cable/internet. We make >$3000/month in rental.

We're already considering our next purchase. Nicaraguan real estate conglomerate = this guy (gal).

Seriously worth considering if you have some cash lying around.
