GM's thread about nothing (23 Viewers)

I was just wondering what someone might do with a degree in Latin and/or Ancient Greek. I guess the answer is not much?
With a BA? Teach Catholic high school for nickels and hail marys. With a PhD and some standing, you can live the life. My Latin prof had his full-time teaching gig, but the Vatican would pay him (well) to spend his summers living in Italy (and other places) translating old medieval texts. It was basically an all-expenses paid vacation for him and his wife, every summer (and winter if he wanted) with a pay check. That guy has it made.

Thought this was funny, but not a new thread worthy funny.

My bosses name is Mel, and he got a happy birthday card from our group commander (three levels up from me) in which they spelled his name Mil. I said, "well at least they didn't spell it Milf." Well that took off and now everyone is calling him Milf

:goodposting:Zooks story was gold. :lmao:Bogart news was ungood. :(Then YSR brought a touch of levity back with "degree in Latin". ;)
I also have a minor in Ancient Greek. :thumbup:Hmm. I'm beginning to see why I'm not all that hireable.
I envy your classical education. I did 1 year of Latin and loved it. It's one of my minor regrets that I did it my senior year and never continued. I'd just finished Weelock's and was starting to think in Latin - no longer translating sentences but reading them straight up. I tried a couple Loeb classics on my own but never made it too far. If I had the extra $$ I would take it back up at one of the local universities.

So I'm in line at our cafeteria here at work and the guy in front of me orders a cheeseburger and when they ask what he wants with it he says, "Freedom Fries." How screwed up are the laws in this country that if I smack him in the back of the head I'm the one who gets in trouble?

Can you make a case over Painter?
Smith has 7 TDs/1 INT over his last 4 starts.Painter has 1 TD/4 INTs over his last 3 starts.Redskins pass defense has allowed 4 TDs over the last 3 games but are trending downward (gave up 237 yards to PHI, then 256 to CAR, then 262 to BUF).Falcons pass defense has allowed 3 TDs over the last 3 games but are trending updward (gave up 396 yards to GB, then 237 to CAR, then 183 to DET).
Why would you compare last 4 starts to last 3? Did you see Painter run for 79 yards last week?Painter has 1 home start this season, 277 yards and 2 TDs against KC.

dunno. just made the difference stand out more.if you like Painter, go with him. Dodds has him projected with more points this week. You're basically counting on garbage points with him. Not really much of a running QB so seems iffy to count on those rushing totals.from Rotoworld:
(Rotoworld) Curtis Painter admitted his 79 rushing yards Sunday were a result of the Titans' sitting on a 20-0 halftime lead.Analysis: The Titans turned and ran with the Colts' wideouts in the second half, allowing Painter to scramble for chunks of yards whenever he wanted. It's not a trend we're expecting to continue. In Painter's previous five games, he had a total of seven rushes for 24 yards

This is AWESOME!

Blue Angels have been flying up and down the river near my office building in preparation for their air show this weekend at NAS JAX. I could hear them every time but couldn't see them because of some low clouds.

Walking back from lunch got a clear shot of them in a break in the clouds.

Got this marinating for the grill tomorrow: Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs

Ingredients

3 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons sherry

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

8 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 2 inch pieces

1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained

skewers

Directions

In a shallow glass dish, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic powder. Stir the chicken pieces and pineapple into the marinade until well coated. Cover, and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours.

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken and pineapple alternately onto skewers. Grill 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally, or until chicken juices run clear.
How did these turn out? Kind of want to make these tonight...

We used pacifiers on both kids and it was a blessing. We stopped both of them between 6 months and a year with no issues whatsoever. Every kid is different.

My solid 6, girl next door dental hygienist was switched with an 8, hot young Russian broad today. Not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, I enjoyed it when all I could think was, "I can feel your boobs with my head!" On the other hand, I didn't really like being scolded by someone when I was trying to imagine them straddling me in the chair.
