GM's thread about nothing (31 Viewers)

So, the other day, when I posted about my "friend" breaking her tailbone, I really meant me. Based on a couple of GM's posts, I just feel like you guys think I'm a complete drunk/spaz, so I didn't want to add to that.

This HURTS. Like nothing I've experienced before. Almost every move I make causes me to wince. My mother gave me a bottle of hydrocodone when we left SC earlier this week, and I (against my will, as I hate pills) have been taking it every 4 hours to allow me to live my life. I guess I can go get the donut, but if anyone has any other ideas, I would be greatly appreciative.
yeah, but you're our complete drunk/spaz.really not much you can do other than pain management. there's better stuff out there than vicodin--see your doc and get something more effective.

I'm really not a pills kinda gal. I prefer not to take them unless absolutely necessary. This hydrocodone helps take the edge off, but I still can't sit in certain positions, bend down, or even stand for any length of time (don't even get me started on getting in and out of a Forerunner). You think Vicodin will be better?

Vicodin=hydrocodone. He's suggesting something stronger. Like Oxycontin, or "hillbilly heroin".

that, or something like percocet. I'm on vicodin for my knee right now and it isn't very effective, plus it always gives me a stomach ache.

Yeah, misread your post re: vicodin. Not sure what is needed right now, but will probably go see a doctor on Monday. This just isn't getting any better.

if you really broke it, there's pretty much nothing they can do. you can't immobilize it, so all you can do is try to manage the pain while it heals. had a friend break hers recently and went through the same thing. limited activity and meds for the pain.

:( Get well soon GB. I'll keep sending lewd texts to you if that will make you feel better.

These tales of sexual conquest sure make me appreciate being married. I managed a solid seven hours of sleep last night and was actually early for my 8 a.m.So suck it, Guster.
:lmao: :goodposting: Although, I'm in such a better mood today thanks to my first sleep of the week thanks to a couple of whiskeys.Anyhow, somebody with the initials D.M. is following me on Twitter? There is a password to tweet to the gmtan? So confused.
You have your own account, that we'll call @StLouisBob. The people that follow you can see what you "tweet". You can see "tweets" from the people that you follow. You are currently following @GMTANFBG. When someone who has the keys to the account tweets something, you will see it, because you are following that account. The password referenced in this thread is to be able to send out a tweet as @GMTANFBG, not @StLouisBob. Essentially @GMTANFBG is a shared twitter alias.
Just sent a follow request to GMTANFBG account. I don't know what this says about me - but it can't be good ...

Got some really good clearance wine values at World Market today:Eroica - Ch. Saint Michelle, Washington State. This is a joint wine project by ChStM and Dr. Losen, from Germany- one of the world preeminent Riesling winemakers. THis example is a truly admirable wine- keeping the Riesling character, but infusing new world complexity of fruit and minerality without the austerity of many old world premium Rieslings. Year in and year out, this is always one of my favorites- it goes great with fish or chicken or by itself. Normally runs about 20/bottle and is a good value there, but it was 10/bottle at WM yesterday. I will visit all there stores within 20 miles Sat and buy all they have.Bridgeview Gewurztraminer - nice and crisp wurtz- fantastic paired with spicy food- there is probably no better choice for Thai or spicy Japanese or even Mexican. This wine is made in Southern OR and a fine example of the varietal At $5 a bottle, buy everything on the shelf. It will keep for years.
:goodposting:Gracias

Damn Zooks sorry to hear that.

Oddly enough I just got back from a Relay for Life rally/meeting. We're getting a team together for this year's relay in memory of my bro-in-law Bret.

Learned today that Bakersfield hosts the largest Relay for Life in THE WORLD. Not sure how that happens.

Waiting to add the rice to the Bog until 5. It's hard waiting for it. I will take half this batch and freeze it for later. Happy divisional playoff weekend all!

Sorry to hear about your friend, Zooks. Lost a good buddy to stage 4 lung cancer a few years ago. it was crazy how fast my friend went from a healthy man to a very sick man to a man down. I hope cancer catches monkey aids, bus herpes and turrets (no idea how to spell), then dies a nasty mean death. :(
Thank you to everyone for the kind words and texts, that meant a lot.I had learned a few days ago that it was decided he was now on hospice care (I don't know if I phrased that properly) so I kinda new the end was near. I was supposed to go out with some friends to see him on Sunday, but I guess he took a turn for the worse on Thursday night and he passed last evening. I spent most of last night and today kicking myself for not going sooner. He lives about an hour away and I last saw him around Thanksgiving when about 15 of us went out to dinner with him. That was about 6 weeks ago. At that time, the only difference was that his head appeared to be swollen due to the chemo and meds. But he was still his old self, cracking jokes and busting everybody's balls. Though he wanted to stay out with all of us, he was exhausted and his brother was going to bring him home. He said his good byes to everyone and that we'd all be in touch and see each other soon. But that was right before December and the holidays made it difficult for everyone to keep in touch. When I said good bye to him that night, he gave me a hug and I whispered to him "stay strong bro, I'll see you soon" and he said "hey, you know me, I got this, no worries" (Now back in the day, I had several different nicknames and one of them was "Cheeks" but Howie always called me "Cheech" for some reason) I started to pull away from him and he pulled me close and said "Cheech, I love you brother, you're one of the good guys and best persons I've ever known, be good". I couldn't really talk because I was afraid I was gonna break down and cry, so I just hugged him, smiled and nodded.

I'm starting to think that maybe it was better that I didn't get to see him this week. Maybe it's better that my final memory of him will be that hug and those words he said instead of my final memory being that of seeing him suffering at the end.

Anyways, thanks again for the kind words and sorry to bring serious real life stuff in here. Here's a picture of him before he was sick, with his new wife: 38 years young, RIP Howie

I think I speak for everyone when I say that I think you're an awesome person, Cheeks.

Really sorry for your loss.

Not much else you can do. I can definitely sympathize. Several years ago I slipped on the stairs and cracked/severely bruised mine. The next week I had a 15 hour flight to Japan.

Sorry to hear, Zooks. I got a lump in my throat reading that. I also agree with GM.

Hydrocodone didn't do a thing for my pain, YSR. About the only thing they ever do for me is to give me a floating feeling, like my whole, fat body is lighter. At least my foot is doing better, but I still don't have a clue what the issue was.

So what do you use for contraception?

Well ####, we were supposed to take JR to a Kid's Night Out and have date night, but now he has a double ear infection and a cold. So no date night and no tasty breakfast tomorrow from cosjobs.

So the wife has the kids out of town and I went out for wings for second half of Niners-Saints. Home for Pats blowout and FLyers-Preds snoozefest. Slap it High?

After hobbling back and forth to the kitchen for beers, I finally wised up and brought a cooler over to my couch.
