GM's thread about nothing (25 Viewers)

Today I'm trying to figure out how to uninvite someone from joining my vacation. I made the mistake of posting that I have to go to Singapore, and did anyone want to tag along and go there and someplace else Asianed with me. A friend who I do NOT want to travel with is now all over this. I can't really tell her I'm no longer going since it will be obvious when I do go. But there's no way I want her to go. :(
oof. That SUCKS"when I asked if anybody wanted to join me, I didn't mean you..."

Mr. krista, literary snob, liked those novels y'all were talking about, too. I've relentlessly made fun of him for that.Guster, what happened to the furniture model? I know she was certifiable, but seems like it just suddenly fizzled?
Yeah, i was hanging out with her one day and we had been texting daily and then all of a sudden I didn't hear from her for days. I texted to see if I'd get to see her again and her reply was "idk"I'll shoot her another message at some point to see if I can work in another rendezvous but I'm assuming we've heard the last from her
Probably just as well. The crazy was very strong in that one.

Welcome back GB.
:bye: Thanks. I've just been working constantly and am very boring right now, so not posting. My excitement for the week was getting new carpet in our master bedroom closets (and no, we don't have drapes, so don't ask).Today I'm trying to figure out how to uninvite someone from joining my vacation. I wondered how that was going to work out for you. Sorry. :(

Last night the whole family was coming home from dinner, when the wife and I started to get a little testy with one another. As we pull into the driveway, I wanted to defuse the situation before it escalated.

Me: Look, let's settle this right now. We'll send (9yr old daughter) into the house, and you and I can jump in the backseat and wrestle it out.

Wife:

Daughter: :excited: Oh, I want to watch!!.................... :X Ewwwwww, you're talking about s-e-x.

Me: Uh, no, no, I wasn't.

Daughter: Oh, then can you wrestle on the living room floor?

Me:

Wife: :lmao:

Today's Questionable FB Post to a GMTAN Buddy:

Wishing that SLB Jr.'s farts are funny and that he gets molested soon by an older girl at recess.

So, I'm supposed to talk with a girl later (after I drop my daughter off at her mom's) that messaged me from an online dating site. In a very odd twist, she's actually a couple years older than me. I'm not against dating girls older than me, but for whatever reason I typically end up younger. In some of her pictures she looks smoking hot. Others you can see a bit of age coming through. But she's 5'5" and has a tight body with some good curves. Plus some of her pics look pretty silly, so I think once she's comfortable, she would be a ton of fun. (My link)

Oh, and thanks to CC's FB work, I heard from Tuesday girl again. it looks like I'll be seeing her again sometime soon-ish. She seems pretty fun and we've got a fair amount in common, so conversation is easy. I need to make sure that she doesn't get too attached and realizes that I'm just looking for some fun. I think she understands that now, but could see it becoming an issue if I see her too often. the first date was pretty fun and random and I still have her belt at my place. I think the $ move here is to forget to bring the belt to the next date so she has to come back to get it. (Stripes)

And then there is dumb girl. I've been chatting with her a bit but our schedules haven't matched up yet. She says she doesn't put out until the 5th date, which will probably be above my tolerance to handle her inane babble (omg, don't make fun of me bcuz I like the kardashians). But she also seems like she has a fun side that could make for some interesting dates. My goal here is to go out on a date with her where she picks me up and pays for dinner. I had set up a date with her once and texted to cancel because I felt like going out with my friends instead because I had a crazy day (last sat when I moved the ex out). She ended up being the one that was all apologetic because she was sorry I had a rough day, etc. (She's quite tall)
Here's to hoping that similar results come from my recent FB work, and a hottie 4th grader corners SLB Jr. behind a willow tree and slobbers him something magical. How great would it be if he comes home all whimpering and confused, and poor Bob thinks he's been bullied again. So like a good dad he gets down on one knee and gets his son to talk about it and when junior finally opens his mouth he tells Bob some older girl tickled his tongue with her tongue?

You have to picture Bob's face at that moment. Can't see it? It looks like this.

k4> are you retired?you travel more than my grandparents did when i was a kid
Some of the travel (Dubai, India and Luxembourg last year, Singapore and Luxembourg planned so far this year) is for work, but I just tack some fun time onto it. We also do seem to take a lot of vacations. I'm hoping for very early retirement in 1-2 years, though. :excited:

Can't you just tell her that the chef of the house is now going? Then when you get close to the date mumble something about him not being able to go etc?

 Well, sure, make it seem all simple and stuff. (Thanks.)

Looking for a little advice here...could probably start my own thread, but could likely be handled in here. Got the twins' 1YO bday party coming up next month. Sending out 35 invites (she's got a huge family), so once you factor in spouses and kids, I'm expecting around 75ish people at my house for a 2 hour party (11-1). We'll be serving lunch, so I'm going to be cooking to keep the costs low vs. ordering out. Originally I was going to keep it simple...burgers and hot dogs, but a buddy of mine pointed out that he did this for his kids' party and he was constantly cooking, so he missed a bunch of stuff. I don't want to miss anything, but obviously still need to keep the guests happy. Any thoughts here on food?

I was thinking making a big thing of pulled pork which is very easy, and can be done in the crockpot (hehe) early that morning...so that frees up a bunch of time. But for variety, I need one or 2 more entree options. Think I'm still going to roll with hot dogs for the kids, b/c I can do that on the stove really quick.

Anything? :thanks:

We had a similar number at our Super Bowl party last year, and Mr. krista made a big variety of Mexican stuff. You wouldn't have to go as insane as he did, but you could just make a few different taco fillings (maybe a shrimp, a beef, and a chorizo?) and have warm tortillas (keep them in tortilla warmers), a ton of toppings, sauces, etc. You can put those in a couple of buffet pans with sterno and keep it warm for a long time. He also made tamales and kept them warm similarly, if that's more your style. And guac. And ceviche. And...well, maybe just stick with the tacos.

Something you can make before hand like chili, Mac and cheese you can toss in the oven, heck maybe even a large sub or something like that.

For the first time in a while I got really drunk last night, just me and a buddy from work, no women involved just a night filled with beer, Jack Daniels and a 2AM visit to the drive thru at McDonalds. Somehow one of challenged the other to a chicken McNugget eating contest so we got 2 separate 20 piece chicken nugget orders. I tapped out after 14 nuggets. My sphincter has been performing a jihad on the toilet today.

By casting multiple lines into the ocean of romance, I may have created an issue. This Monday night is the Chamber "Fun at 5" networking thingy. 22 YO is attending the event and is also attending the "Fun at 7" which will take place in my bedroom later. For this past week I've had a little email flirting thing going on with Hot Co-worker and she has pretty much clearly been hinting that she wants to go out for a drink with me. This morning Hot Co-worker texted me and said she was going to the Fun at 5 and asked if I was going, I said yes and she said she was looking forward to seeing me there. I really never thought I had a shot with her so I'm excited about that but then I realized this means both her and the 22 YO will be at this event and I'm definitely leaving with the 22 YO. A few minutes later I get a text from 22 YO saying "looking forward to Fun at 5 Monday, but REALLY looking forward to Fun at 7" (she also included one those girly wink things that WOZ is a proponate of) And then before I finish reading that I get a text from Hot Co-worker saying "can't wait for Fun at 5, I'm not gonna know anyone there so you better not ignore me all night" (she included a smilie face and I'm sure WOZ is a fan of that as well) All of this pretty much guarantees that my plan of action will be to slap on my Hock Meng Tay name tag and drink heavily and see what happens.

Zooks, Thorn, others in the greater Boston area...

Some friends and I are planning on driving from Cincinnati to Boston for St. Patrick's Day

Any spots better than others for drinking then or is every place pretty much full of drunks?

We'll probably get in town on Friday afternoon and leave sometime Sunday late morning

Any interest in meeting up for drinks either Friday night or joining us out drinking on St. Patrick's?

If we wanted to dial it up a notch, I could probably swing by and pick up Homer or Crazy Canuck... not enough room in the car for both and it would take too much time.
Every bar and street will be filled with drunks. Hhhmmmm... Guster/Thorn/Zooks cornhole taking place on one of the drunkest weekends of the year.... There's no way that could end badly

:excited:  not sure where things with you and the 22 y.o. stand right now, but any chance of you letting her in on what's going on so she'll be prepared to see you talking with HCW but will know that you're going home with her? Tough playThis either ends in a 3 way or a :tfp: GLGB

And...well, maybe just stick with the tacos.
chicken thighs in bulk might be a good option as well. They are much cheaper, I think the meat is better and you really can't over cook it. So it might be something you could also slow cook.

So, tonight is beerfest here in Cincinnati.

300+ beers to try, thousands of people.

I'm taxiing to and from downtown so I don't have to worry about driving

The last two years have ended up with at least one person in my group throwing up.

This year will have an extra fun twist...the ex is going with my usual group and I'm going with a different set of friends.

Her and I both schmammered at the same event should be interesting.

Yes, that's a good idea. The chili idea was :moneybag: , too.

:excited:  not sure where things with you and the 22 y.o. stand right now, but any chance of you letting her in on what's going on so she'll be prepared to see you talking with HCW but will know that you're going home with her? Tough playThis either ends in a 3 way or a :tfp: GLGB
This is actually brilliant. At first I thought this wouldn't work because 22 YO has had a weird little jealousy thing going on right now with girls posting on my FB and my hair stylist texting me (if you recall, hair stylist is daughter of the President of my work and I had an awkward conversation with him this week about his daughter) But this is actually perfect because I'll tell the 22 YO that I'm worried people are starting think that there is something going on between us so at the Fun at 5 I'll try to be flirty with a girl from work so people won't suspect anything is going between us and then after the event we'll meet up at my house. GB Guster... I typically wouldn't have thought this out and I would've just gone there and gotten drunker than Stryker and watched the train wreck happen around me. Still a good chance I'll screw this up though.

Mr. krista, literary snob, liked those novels y'all were talking about, too.

If you would have just answered my question on FB, you wouldn't be in this predicament.CC: How much would my hookers and blow allowance be?K4: Unlimited.Boom! No problem with travel partners. But no. Krista chose to ignore me. Who's laughing now, Krista? WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!@

Gameplanning of this caliber passed me by in the late 90s. Bravo sir. You remind me of an older version of my younger self. Read it again. It makes sense.

My wife will make a pot of barbecued pork and a pot of shredded turkey for sandwiches. Easy and they can serve themselves.

So I openend up a Two Hearted Ale and started attaching the smoker box to the side of the grill. The wife and daughter left to go see the inlaws. Gonna be gone all day.

I get most of the smoker assembled and realize there are two nuts that are going to be a ##### to get to to tighten. time for another beer first.

After as much time as assembly of the whole damn thing should have taken me and some skin on the knuckles being shredded (and my ### calling GM when I went to put my phone away), I got them both tightened.

This was the inspiration for a neew show I'd like to see on TV. Screw Undercover Boss. I want to see CEOs of companies assemble the products they make with no help from anybody. But the guy who designed the ####### thing has to stand there and explain why he put the bolt in a spot that's impossible to ge to, along with anything else that doesn't make a lick of damn sense.

I think I liked Gadzooks' original plan better, just from the perspective of GMTAN entertainment. But Guster's fine-tuning is solid.

I anticipate having a tough day on Monday, so shoot me a DrunktextTM on Monday, GB.

TIA

YIT

So about 2 hours later than I thought I'd get it started, the pork is porking.

Another beer and I'm feeling pretty good, so I started putting together some spray for the pork.

Three parts apple juice to one part Captain Morgan. I don't paricularly care for apple juice. Or Captain Morgan.

Actually, I was his age when a girl taught me to kiss like the French. Very good looking gal, turned out to me a model. I still have vivid memories of the two of us hiding in her parent's garage....

Angrywife and I are going to an event tonight so our frequently intoxicated construction superintendent neighbor will be watching the boys. What could possibly go wrong?

Apple juice sucks. Might be time to switch to wine.

Keeping a smoker a 225 degrees is a lot ,more work than it should be. What am I doing worng?
