GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

What kind of food delivery options are available to you all? I am starving, forgot to bring a lunch, and Romo is "in the middle of something" and can't bring me lunch. A cruise through Yelp shows me that the only places nearby that deliver are pizza and Chinese (NTTAWWE, I'm a big fan of both, but would prefer to go a little healthier if I could). Is this normal, or am I just in a bad food city? Would kill for someone to bring me a plain ole turkey sandwich at this point.
I missed a lot of this thread...is there a reason you are stuck at homee?
I'm at work, actually. Just can't leave my desk for a few reasons.

We had Famous Dave's for lunch today, but instead of delivery, I like to go pick it up. Free beer while I wait at the bar for it. WINNING!

Also, had the Manhandler, but subbed pork for brisket and topped it with slaw. Outstanding for a chain.

There's a Famous Dave's within a mile from my office. Is the free beer while you wait nationwide or is it kind of like the Portland Rite-Aid butter selection?

Well, first of all, I'm not going to just sit back and allow you to mock the butter selection at Rite Aid. I showed you the butters.Secondly, the free beer only means I make my work pay for it out of petty cash.

Jimmy John's delivers a pretty decent sandwich
Office is outside of their delivery area, but I agree that it's a pretty decent sandwich. At this point, I'm just going to suck it up and wait until I can leave at 6:00. Of course, at that point, I have to drive 15 minutes away to another of our offices to help them figure out the settings on their scanner (DPI versus file size).

On behalf of Romo, please eat something before you get home. A low-bloodsugared stressed out pissed off tired wife is not a good thing.

Would you rather drive 100 miles each way 2 days in a row for an all day function both days or stay overnight and just drive there and back?

The distances is right in that gray area. Any shorter and it's a no brainer to drive, any longer and it's a no brainer to stay.

Stay. Get drunk and find a piano bar.

Stay two nights. Take it easy. order room service and get shuke to meet you in the lobby bar.

Man, it is going to be a late one at the office.

Pick my dinner:

City BBQ pulled pork sandwich, green beans, corn pudding

Penn Station cheesesteak, fries

Bangkok Bisgtro chick pad thai

Skyline Chili cheese coneys

I only eat Famous Dave's if I arrive on Scupper's party boat

This has been one of the worst, if not the worst, work-weeks of my career for a variety of reasons (the least of which is half my staff apparently being on death's door). In the midst of that, I have this:

One of my paralegals (not one of the dying ones) is graduating tomorrow, getting a college degree at the age of 43. She has two daughters in college that she raised by herself. She works full time. And she is graduating as valedictorian of her class. We had a little surprise celebration for her today, and I told her how incredibly proud I was. She told me that the only reason that she went back to school was because when I first came to the company, I had talked to her about it and inspired her to do it, making her believe for the first time that she really could achieve it.

So,
Just what this world needs, another lawyer. ;) That's very cool K4. Whenever somebody listens to me they end up in the ER.On a related note, my boys are being dickmittens so I took away their favorite Wii game last Saturday and told them they could have it back this Sunday if they were on their best behavior. I just got done cutting the grass yesterday and Cal hand me a piece of paper and asks me to sign it. This is rather normal except usually it just has scribbles on it. This document actually had words on it so I took the time to read it. Now Cal has handwriting like his Dad or GM, or GM is his Dad, so it takes a bit of effort. I finally made out "We've been good boys for 3 days and get Skylander back today instead of Sunday". Almost slid that one by me.

Someone has forced several Irish car bombs down my drinkhole.
I have to remember to check this thread. I was sitting on the patio, alone, drinking whiskey last night. Oh and :lmao: :lmao: @ drinkhole.

Hypothetical question: To avoid being considered completely insane, what is the minimum amount of time that you need date a woman before you can propose to her?

So Mrs. SLB left around noon today for a baby shower out of town and won't be back until Sunday. Tomorrow I have a golf tournament, that I've paid a foursome, with my GB/client. Oh except the Boyscouts decided it would be a great weekend for a camp out. Apparently they don't realize Sunday is Father's Day and people may have plans and/or other children. Good thing it is going to be 90+ degrees too.

Oh yes, special thanks to Cosjobs for pointing out to now replace only one tire. Turns out the tire guy didn't even notice my car is AWD, the bad news is I just dropped a grand on 3 new tires.

HJS also deserves thanks for pointing out what might be my new favorite shirt. My collection of awesome cat shirts is now up to 3.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand what Rock of Ages is supposed to be about?
I heard a couple of reviews today that it is surprisingly good. One said, and I quote "I can't believe I'm saying this but I think Tom Cruise could win best actor with this movie".

For me it was 7 years but I wish I would have given it 10.
So 2 weeks=too soon?
Yes. Unless she is an exotic dancer or Vegas lounge singer/waitress.Actually the wife of the owner of Fast Eddies, which iconic here I've seen it featured in Maxim and several TV shows, said he proposed to her on their first date. I think she said they have been married for 15 years now.

:goodposting: Also, dress up like a cowboy.
Stay and do a shot.
Sorry to hear you had a bad week, GB:

I mostly just lurk here, and I might be confusing your misadventures with Gadzooks, but here's my :2cents: I. For most people 6 months.7. For GM Tanners, just long enough to make sure she isn't in the witness relocation program.€. And also make sure the statute of limitations for prosecuting any home invasion/cleanings is past.

:goodposting: If they carry the brisket burgers in your area I seriously recommend trying one.

My uncle proposed to my aunt on their second date. They've been married 35 years or so.
this is kind of the thing I'm thinking about. you hear about couples like this. It's been 13 days. I've seen her 10 times. If I asked her, she'd say yes.

Don't get me wrong - I'm an enormous proponent of the second marriage. It's great. But you might want to cool your jets just a little bit. Waiting a couple months isn't exactly dragging your feet.

I think that's great fish. I also think that waiting a year or ten has zero downside.

But this thread thrives on hijinx so by all means swing away.

Especially given that it was, what, two months ago that the paralegal was the love of your life who was worth throwing away career and everything else for? Your judgment might be just a little bit, what should we say, clouded?
