Ack. I hope you boy is ok.I know it's a phase, but my wife if convinced this is the result of something that has happened to him recently. This happened to my son a few months back. Same thing: sudden fear of the dark, monsters, but completely understands they're not real. It seems like just another phase he's going through, so we let him fall asleep with the light on until he grows out of it.All of a sudden my son is afraid of the dark and has a lot of anxiety about going to bed. Said he is afraid of monsters, even though he tells me he understands they're not real.Advice?![]()
A cool alternative to a night light is a fish tank. My son has a 50 gallon tank in his room. We turn the tank light on at night and off during the day. When he gets scared, he watches the fish. Sometimes it helps, sometimes we just have to leave the room light on.

Dude. So sorry.
If there's anything I can do to help, even if you just need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to ask. You seem to have more than your fair share of bad luck
