GM's thread about nothing (43 Viewers)

All of a sudden my son is afraid of the dark and has a lot of anxiety about going to bed. Said he is afraid of monsters, even though he tells me he understands they're not real.Advice?
This happened to my son a few months back. Same thing: sudden fear of the dark, monsters, but completely understands they're not real. It seems like just another phase he's going through, so we let him fall asleep with the light on until he grows out of it.
I know it's a phase, but my wife if convinced this is the result of something that has happened to him recently.
Ack. I hope you boy is ok. A cool alternative to a night light is a fish tank. My son has a 50 gallon tank in his room. We turn the tank light on at night and off during the day. When he gets scared, he watches the fish. Sometimes it helps, sometimes we just have to leave the room light on.

I just got a horrible phone call. One of my clients, that is also a very good friend, like a lot of my clients are, was in a terrible car accident over the weekend. His wife & SIL died. SIL just married his daughter last year. I've talked to this guy on an almost daily basis for ten years. I'm in total shock right now.
:o Dude. So sorry.

:goodposting: If there's anything I can do to help, even if you just need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to ask. You seem to have more than your fair share of bad luck

:goodposting: I swear that yesterday for some strange reason I was thinking about how it seemed like SLB has had to deal with more death or people getting sick than anyone else I know. And I thought it was nice that it seemed like you were on a good streak for awhile of not having to deal with this and I was almost gonna post that and add that I didn't want to jinx anything. Jesus, sorry buddy.

You know how when people here keep the same quote in their sig you almost stop noticing it, or you after a while it's just not that funny because you've seen it a thousand times? I swear to God, EVERY time I read the quotes in Furley's and Guster's sigs I laugh out loud. Every time.

Thanks everybody. I feel like crying and simultaneously throwing up right now.As far as the "bad luck". I think it is just a byproduct of having so many friends and family. My Dad sent me the following e-mail, quite out of nowhere yesterday:

By the way,I think it is so wonderful that you have so many friendships in so many different “friendship” sectors,ie Cousins,Clients,Chicago/KC,HS friends, college friends, kids you grew up with, neighbors etc-etc-etc You’ve come a long way from that angry young man in his late teens, early 20’s. I am very, very proud of you in so many ways Love you-Dad
Thanks again. It really is very much appreciated.

You're a great human being Bob. All of us who have been on the receiving end of your care packages know this.Hang in there GB
:goodposting: You're a good dude. Almost infectious (and not just in the genital warts kind of way).

So it sounds like your fish tank is lighted 24/7, by daylight or electric light after dark. This is very unhealthy for the fish. Maybe hook the light to a timer that shuts off after he falls asleep, or drape it with some sort of hood or blackout blanket to cover the tank during the day.

I'm not sure whether you neglected to tell your dad about your scores of close internet friends, or you told him about us and he disrespected us with our exclusion.

I generally keep the curtains in his room drawn. There isn't much light in there. First floor room.

I approve of and encourage the use of "scores" more in this thread.I have scores of boxes left to sort through in my garage. I'm also looking for scores of pain pills as I'm not nearly as fit and strong as I was a score ago.

I think LoLo Jones should auction off her virginity.
Score!
My god she's a remarkable speciwoman.
#FemaleTebow?
Very fair comparison, though she has much nicer skin. Probably a better thrower too.
12.86 isn't all that impressive. Sally Pearson should take her easily IMO (-240 to win), but I'm hoping somebody else will post some good results to make it interesting.

She should also be -240 to kill all my future erections. Barf

I upgraded to IE9. BIG MISTAKE. For some reason, now when I post a link here, it places it to the top of the post and not in the body of the message I'm typing. VERY annoying. Why does it do that?

Much like the obsessions thread, that "do you know a murderer" thread is making me see this place in a whole different way.
