GM's thread about nothing (30 Viewers)

Tony Romo for Peyton Hillis? Really? I think this is the same guy that traded Aaron Rodgers for Dwayne Bowe last year.
I was shocked at the offer and first impulse was to reject, since I already have 3 QBs. But I also have 3 RBs better than HIllis and no QBs better Romo, so I accepted

Tempted to take my whole 24 hour review period here so you miss out on Romo tomorrow but I probably won't.

Watching Blade Runner for the first time tonight. Sitting here alone with a glass of Stoli Elit while the wife is out for "girls night out." Not expecting any when she gets home. Yay me.

So anyway, Blade Runner is the "Final Cut" version. How is this different than the others and did I pick the wrong one?

You did not.

There's an entire thread here on the movie that discusses this. I'm not totally sure, I've only seen the theatrical and initial directors cut.

YSR...I am one of many friends you'll find who have been through what you've been through. Thoprawishes to you, I know the emotions are tough in the middle of it all. We have two wonderful children right now and we understand how lucky we are. Time will show you the way. In the meantime, much love.

Is that Daryl Hannah as one of the replicants? Her with the eye black is reminding me of when the "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" tortures the dude that raped her (US version).

Yep.I saw that movie for the first time about 15 years ago in an arthouse theater. Not sure which version it was. Regardless, it seems like something that would be more enjoyable on the big screen. Hope you like it.

####. He offered me Romo for Pierre Thomas. Didn't see it until after I approved your deal.

Me neither. I have the Final Cut sitting on my DVR just waiting for me. It will probably be December when I'm off of work for 3 weeks before I'll be able to watch it.Also just watched the first episode of Game of Thrones tonight. I'm so far behind on TV and movies it's ridiculous.

When it comes down to it, i know few people (including my own parents!) who haven't gone through it. It just doesn't seem like it because most people don't talk about it. As a woman, I would feel, completely inappropriately, like I had "failed ", which is ridiculous. But that might be why people don't discuss it so much.I can't express how much I feel for you, YSR. It will get better and you will have another chance. The fact you would share here means a lot. Huge TPW and love to you.

:goodposting: My mom had 4, iirc. The biggest thing my wife had to deal with was, inevitably, she began to wonder whether it was something that she did or did not do that caused it. She didn't do anything wrong, and you didn't either. Try not to burden yourself with something that was beyond your control. It just happens.

I wish I could start Game of Thrones over again. I remember finishing an episode blurry-eyed at 5AM thinking i was about to be able to go to sleep...but the ending was so unexpected I had to start watching the next episode immediately. I actually yelled at my tv, "F### YOU I WANT TO SLEEP!!!"

I gotta get this off my chest: I HATE THESE ####### HEINEKEN COMMERCIALS. THEY SUCK ###! There is nothing hip or cool about Heineken. Frank Booth shut that down years ago when you so called hipster film makers were studying David Lynch at the Academy of Art College in SF. I would take every one of the male talent on those spots, shave their heads and fake beards, send them to the Marines, and go find mines in the Afghan desert. I would take the directors of those said spots to go shoot that. The music sucks meatwad too. Bunch of hacks sounding like goats that my Grandpa used to castrate on my Uncle's ranch in Coachella while he made me pour salt on the wound when I was 4 years old. That fat angry pig on that ranch smelled better than those #### spots they show while I'm trying to watch football. My Grandpa cooked the hell outta that pig too. Best day of my life was when I saw that pig's head on a hook while my Grandpa was cooking up some serious chicharones, knowing that I didn't have to feed that damn pig anymore.

Hopefully you don't mean this song when disparaging Heineken's choice of music.

I hate everything about that spot. Even the pigs.

If a gal walks up to me, observes I am alone, and asks if I would like some company, I do not assume she is under the spell of my hair. Though perhaps I underestimate myself.
Where was this specifically. I'm just curious.
Outside of the canopy, where the zipline starts. Then a different one, right in the lobby of the El Cortez. Hoes be getting brazen up in here.
And, again. Right in front of the stage between the D and Four Queens. She asked me why I didn't want to "hang out" with her. I didn't have the heart to tell her that her face looked like it had been hit by a frying pan, and her teeth seemed to go every direction at once. So I mumbled something about being tired.

There are more than a few versions of Blade Runner out there.

The original US theatrical version is what most of us* have seen. That's the version that was originally shown in American theaters and available on VHS.

Then there was the Director's Cut which was shown in a limited capacity in some theaters around 1992. IMO it is a much better version of the film. Having only seen the original US theatrical version (which I loved) I was blown away as to how much better the Director's Cut is.

The "Final Cut" is pretty much the same as the Director's Cut. I think the only differences is that Ridley Scott was able to personally tweak some technical stuff for the Final Cut.

Either way you can't go wrong.

*ETA: Us old people.

Is Blade Runner all Science Fictiony? I'm not a big science fictiony guy.
Yes and no. It is not science fiction in the traditional sense. Obviously the story centers around the future and future (or possible future) technology but it isn't space-ships and laser swords. I'll put it this way: One of my college professors required us to watch Blade Runner in his Postmodern Lit class. What is it to be human etc.

Directors Cut is the one I saw. Didn't realize that it was a limited run. I know people were lined up around the block to get in.

You might mention the original story was written by the greatest SF writer ever: Phillip K. ****.**** is the perfect writer for nonscifi fans, too. Just good, wildly imaginative and deeply human stories.

Yep. Although Blade Runner diverges wildly (in a good way) from "Do Androids Dream...".Blade Runner also borrowed heavily, at least to me, from another great **** story "The Electric Ant". At least in terms of theme.

Yeah I agree. And I do not think a film has yet been made that captures the soul of ****'s work. Mainly they just run with his wild ideas rather than their characters. I'm still waiting for the Three Stigmata of Peter and The Man in the High Tower and about 1200 of his short stories to be realized on screen.

Colin's Blazing Five

Buccaneers at Cowboys (-7.5)

Eagles at Cardinals (+3.5)

Bengals (+3) at Redskins

49ers at Vikings (+7)

Jets (-2.5) at Dolphins
:coffee: Love the idea of a Bengals/Cardinals ML Parlay [/Cosjobs]
Bengals suck.
- Bengals were a playoff team last year- Red Rifle will face decimated pass rush with injuries to Carriker/Orakpo

- Bengals defense vastly underrated, gets back best pass rusher in Dunlap

- Underdogs treat me right

Side bet?
Bengals secondary and linebackers are a mess right now, and I'm worried RGIII is going to escape the pocket and run for miles.
The Bengals struggled to beat the Browns. I know it's an intra-division, state of Ohio rivalry, but there's no way that the game should have been close. GM, I'll give you Bengals +3
sweet! $20?
