GM's thread about nothing (14 Viewers)

Hey cookingguys. I have a 2lb turkey breast marinated in some kind of teriyaki stuff. What do I do with this thing? Besides the suggestion from the YouTube comment that TB posted--already did that.Oh, and it's cold and raining, so the grill is a no-go.
Boneless I assume? If you have a cast iron skillet, just throw a little bit of oil in there and cook away
Just crock pot it, imo. You'll want a lowish temp so you don't burn the teriyaki which is loaded with sugar.
I'd like to eat it today. :kicksrock:Screw it, I'm just throwing it in the oven til it's hot.
325 for 3 hours or so?
Sounds right, I guess? Glass baking dish, covered w foil. Am I doing it right?
Lose the foil or it will just be a steamed breast and the skin will be funky. No foil will let is roast and make the skin tasty.
Yeah, but if it starts to burn because of the teriyaki, foiling should help. I agree with starting no foil though.
Going no foil for the last half hour or so. Gonna throw a lil butter on top periodically to get the skin nice and crispy.
This is gonna be great!

:lmao: Yeah, the school I teach at isn't exactly diverse.Today is Jimi Hendrix's birthday. I was showing the kids a few pics/vids of Jimi. I put up the first pic of him playing the guitar and asked the kids "What do you notice that's different or interesting about Jimi?" (I wanted to see if they would notice that he was left-handed).Kid: "He's African-American"
Wait, so you're a teacher? /Tiger Fan

Not bad at all. It was a little dry, but still extremely tasty. I'm fat. :porked:

Will probably broil a bit at the end if the skin is still soft.
Don't do that in the glass pan. They are only rated to 350, maybe 375

Didnt he also play a right handed guitar upside down?

It would seem that no one at the sleep lab, my doctor's office or the CPAP provider is in any hurry to hook me up. Apparently, I have been far more worried about the quality of my sleep than I should. So tonight I will pop a couple of Vikes, hit the Rumple Minze in the freezer, and collapse on my couch. Though Cos generously offered me an old machine, it clearly isn't that important. Sooooo...talk to you guys tomorrow, probably.

At least sleep in a chair or recliner. Or lose 50 lbs before you pass out.

FYI, I just became an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church.

Gonna try and rake in some of the easy marriage money tanner's been cashing in on.

Hey all, there's still a few days to donate to my head-shaving gig. Big thanks again to those who have already donated.

FB page for benefit - PM me for my PayPal info if you'd like to donate.

I don't know what the total is, but I'm getting my dome buzzed regardless at this point. Will try to organize a group shot vid for GMTAN with all the participants.

:thanks:

This is better than the answer you'd get in Memphis.

Tell your doctor. For real.
Last night I woke up about 1am and the whole house smelled like burnt popcorn to me. I woke Mrs. SLB to see if she got up to make popcorn while I was sleeping but she said no. She also said she didn't smell anything.
Tell your doctor. For real.
Yep. Sounds like some fairly common stuff after bad concussion or brain injury. Synapses misfiring info signals/responses. Probably not a big deal and may go away or be something you can live with just fine, but definitely write them down and discuss with your doc.

I'm no more a doctor than Woz is a lawyer, but for reals mention this to a health care professional. Hearing voices and smelling burnt odors after a head injury is not uncommon and should be checked out.

Thanks guys. I guess I should.Of course you may just be working for Gadzooks and want them to throw me in a nut house.

Today was exhausting. Trying to fit in interviewing along with a job that takes 60-80 hours a week is not going to be easy.

I had three phone conversations about new jobs:

1. First the phone screen with outside recruiter for Goshen job. Went great overall; she is putting me through as the first candidate that she's submitted for the job. No one else has passed muster yet. The odd part was that she emphasized how "macho" the company is and that they need someone to fit into that. Eventually I asked if she thought they'd even consider a woman for it, and the answer wasn't the expected "Of course!" It was more along the lines of "Well...I THINK so...if it were the right type of woman." Very odd!

2. Phone screen with in-house recruiter for Portland job. Awful. I'm considering withdrawing from consideration. I realize internal recruiters often suck, especially when they don't specialize in legal jobs, but this guy had absolutely no idea what he was screening for. I felt like I spent an hour explaining to him what the job was about. I also don't think they're going to be able to pay me enough, based on looking at their public filings of CEO and CFO pay. But...it's Portland. I hate to rule it out when in such a great location, and based on just one person, but it was so wholly unimpressive I don't feel confident they know what they're doing. I don't need to work in a place with incompetents; I already have that.

3. Interesting opportunity for a different kind of job in a location that I could choose, among Chicago, DC, NY, LA, San Francisco, Boston. I'd probably do any of those other than LA. Very intriguing. This one could have legs.

I know. tl;dr

Guster's notes for those with short attention spans: Portland good, job bad. Goshen bad, job good. Intriguing third option. No word yet on Milwaukee.

Don't know why I'm typing this anyway other than felt driven to share.

Thanks for all your moral support. :)

Figure I'll ask in here.Had a second interview this time in person. Was told a talent coordinator will be in touch (basically a recruiter)THe hiring manager interviewed me this time - salary still has not been discussed. What's the play - wait till the "talent coordinator" contacts me ? See what the offer is if I get it?Email hiring manager with the question?Pretty sure it's not to do number 3
I don't get your question at all. Haven't you been working with the recruiter? Just follow up with him.
No recruiter at this point, all on my own. Interviewed wirh pm, team lead and hiring manager (my boss)
I guess I'm clueless then. What is a talent coordinator? No way it's a third party recruiter. Probably a fancy name for their HR person.

Suicide girl Moxi just tweeted that she can cross having sex with a jeopardy champ off her to do list. Tanner, you lucky *******.
What the hell? I didn't even know she was in the market!Just googled her. Huge tracts of land.
Is this suicide girl from 5-7 years ago that came over here for a bit? What the heck was her name?
No, this is the one Frosty keeps trying to steal from me.
Oops, really? Sorry frosty & TRE, I had a chance to shoot a photo session with her but had to pass due to a conflict. If she's available again I'll definitely rearrange whatever I have to for shtick purposes.
Whoa, wait, what now?

Don't die, gb.

For the last couple of months, I will occasionally wake up in the middle of the night and I can hear the faintest sound like two people are carrying on a conversation. I've walked around the house checking TV's, radio's etc. but nothing.
You're creeping me out dude.

Good reminder that I need to donate to you guys and heckmann. Crap. Sorry.
I've tried to donate to all of our guys, but every time I click on a mobro.co link, the page won't load. Apparently this "god" you people are always talking about doesn't want to cure herpes or whatever.

I've decided to make my official between holiday hours from ~8:30 to ~4. I figure I check emails until I go to bed and really, my best work of the day is done by this point anyway. Things are winding down a bit as there are no new studies to run until the new year:coffee:
Sounds nice. I am ####ing swamped at work.

I think you guys should analyze it for another couple dozen posts.

For next time - would you lower the heat or cook it for a shorter time?
Next time, I'm going with the turkeyshot idea.I'd go lower heat for sure, and for a shorter time.
Brine it for a day and then go very high heat to brown it, then low heat to finish cooking it.
Oh my god they don't stop coming.

Hey Jimtanners. Been away for a week. What did I miss?

Also, anyone in or near NYC want to meet up for football and beers on Sunday? I'm going to be in the city Sunday thru Tuesday morn.
