GM's thread about nothing (64 Viewers)

in that nutty gun control thread, [icon] mentions that he carries a gun with him in case he gets carjacked or something.is this common? do any of you dudes drive/walk around strapped in public or is this just a part of life when you live on the hard streets of Memphis?
I carry. Shantytown is not only in Memphis, but is located in one of the worst parts of Memphis. I am sometimes the first one in, last one to leave work and I also answer alarm calls at times in middle of the night.

I keep meaning to get my conceal and carry just to have it. But I'm sooooo lazy.
Here in the wild west of TN ours is just a carry permit. I can walk around all Johnny Ringo style if I want to, but that seems incredibly dumb to do.

One time in my super safe suburb I heard what I thought was someone breaking into my truck outside in the middle of the night. So, like a ninja, I grabbed my gun and quietly slipped out of my townhome to take a look. Peeked around the corner and saw that it was someone's vehicle across the street. Neighbors were out and stuff checking it out as well. No one was there though and the owner just turned the alarm off and everyone went back to bed. Cool story, bro.
:lmao: :lmao:I know a lot of people that carry all the time down here. I'm not that scared of getting carjacked that I'd ever drive with one, hell, if someone wants to carjack me, I'm not going to get into a shoot out over a ####### car.

Shantytown may be on its last leg. Just yesterday the dreaded words "liquidation" and "bankruptcy" were used by the 87-year-old owner.

I used to carry when I had to visit my cousin and her husband in Kenilworth. Otherwise, I usually leave it under the mattress. Or in my daughter's nightstand.

Condolences folks. Tough news today
I appreciate it, but I'm sure Stamford isn't as bad as Thorn made it out to be.
And we need to hear your "bad" story today as well. Perhaps it may be a pick me up for some here.
What's my bad story?
Diamond club level serving Cristal instead of Dom Perignon?
 There are some things so awful they really shouldn't be joked about.

HEY, EASY! :hot:
I'm told downtown is super safe but the rest is like the Wild West.
The part of Memphis that sprawls into Arkansas is quite lovely, I'm told.

I haven't carried in a long time but I always kept mine in the oven. Don't worry, nobody knew it was there.

Autoignition of your standard single-base smokeless powder is between 160°C - 180°C (320° F - 360°F). Autoignition is the proper term for "a bullet go off."Keeping a gun or bullets in your oven might be considered kind of stupid (no offense GB), especially if others in the house do not know its there.

In vino veritas.

A double reverse Tanner with a Doc Pickles finish. Well done. Well done.

I love my truck. ;)

I've never owned a gun because frankly I'm pretty much terrified of them.
Let's go to the range, gb!
I got invited to go shooting with Judd's good buddy Q the other day. I declined. I cited - and I'm not kidding - a conflict with my spiritual beliefs. After he spit out his beer, he said his wife had more nads than me. :bag:
I've assisted a lot of first-timers. They all find they enjoy shooting in the end.

Oh, I know I'd like it. I shot plenty of .22's back at summer camp in Maine. From a kneeling position, I could take down a target from 50 long feet away. :bowtie:But now, in the wake of all this madness, somebody needs to be the John Brown of abolishing guns and by god, that John Brown is me.

Still can't believe there's a thread on how to make nachos. Even worse, TigerFan is behind it.
:lmao: hadn't even noticed it until you pointed it out. Sounds like something out of the Wheelhouse topics thread."Let's talk cereal. How do you make it at home?"
LOL"Warm the bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds, add a 1/2 cup of milk, THEN add your cereal. Finish with 1/4 cup of heavy cream."

Oh god, he was using Velveeta to make these? That's like starting a rock band with a flutist. No no no no no no no....gross.

Velveeta rules. Every time I use it, I think of you. I'll never forgive you for this. Have you ever had those little rye bread pizzas? RULES
