GM's thread about nothing (43 Viewers)

Pickles> you need to step up these cake "commish" duties. Tat can't draft but still wants a team, wants to know if jeep will co-own. We're way behind on the draft, per league standards.

"Feeling good" how?
As in it was slightly cheaper to file but just as easy to use. I actually tried several options and found them to be similarly easy and effective. H&R Block's was good as well.

Most of these zombie nerds in the Walking Dead thread don't seem to appreciate my work in there.
Needs more subtlety.
Serious question: Should I actually watch an episode, so I can be misinformed in a dumb way?
If you want to be really dedicated to the shtick, sure. Zubaz pants line had my crying.
Maybe I'll watch one episode, and then just incorrectly assume what happens in future episodes based on that one episode.

Relax, nerd.
If I relax, this thing never gets done. You know that.
The world will continue to spin without your stress cranking the wheel.
I don't know if you put quite the level of importance on fantasy sports that some think you should

Watch the most current one. Then you can assume what happens and happened.

I appreciate it guys. I've had to remind myself a few times I'm having a conversation with the heroin. He'd actually been off heroin for over a year, but he'd been on suboxone, wasn't able to get that from his doc anymore, and started using heroin instead. The good news is he's off suboxone, now we just need to get him off the heroin. Talked with a different friend (another multiple inpatient who used to rent a room from me) who knows the guy last night, and her response was "XXXX is still alive? That surprises me. We had to stop hanging out because he couldn't stop using." That was depressing.
Here's one more thing for you to remember. For you, the (mostly) normal non-addict, things will be better when your friend quits. However, this is an oversimplification and is just not the case at all. Anecdote:I started drinking regularly when I was 14. When I was 16, I was a full blow alcoholic, drinking a lot every day. No one noticed because I could read people, could lie, and could crush any high school or standardized test I was given. When I was 17, I was a school valedictorian and at Stanford on scholarship for engineering. By the time I was 20, I was living in a trailer on the Stanford campus, spending every night in the Rodin sculpture garden, trying to drink one more shot than the day before, without puking. I wanted to die. It was leaving las vegas, years before the movie. Within 6 months, I was a homeless dropout sleeping under buildings, cut off from parents and stealing food. Yeah, I'm that jackass that got into a good school and somehow couldn't finish. The kicker of it is, I became homeless after I STOPPED drinking. Everyone thinks that you are fixed once you stop the substance. However, that is nonsense. All the cessation of substance does is that it allows you the opportunity to discover why your life was so void/meaningless that you slipped into oblivion. Now, you have to do the real heavy living, trying to fabricate a new foreign life with enough short moments of happiness/ joy in the world that you disdained so much that you opted out in the first place. You probably aren't wired exactly right, or you wouldn't have found yourself here in the first place.I lost a ton of friends, and those that stood by me all said at some point: "You know, you were much more pleasant as an alcoholic. You really are just a mean **** now."I abused my new found need to express myself in order to keep from getting bottled up. I vented and broke things and people. It wasn't until I started redefining myself by what I could do, as opposed to what I could no longer do, that I chance at a life not made unmanageable by alcohol. Even then, in hard times, like break ups, my dad's death, my wife's miscarriage- it is hard to walk the path. Real hard. So, for you, and good bless you- you are trying to get your buddy in a clinic. However, the real work hasn't even started. He has to build, from zero, a life better worth living sober. And for people who have addictive ersonalities and diminished capabilities for joy, that is some hard #### to manage.
You should post more here
RFW has lived a very interesting life. On a less dramatic note, I recently found a pic on my C: drive of a middle-aged, alcohol-free RFW riding a tricycle in a toga. True.

I also went to law school in NYC. GM's assumptions here are more in keeping with what I saw happening. :unsure:Can we get to the part where we post pictures of ourselves in college and law school rather than high school now? I was much better looking then.
College? This about sums it up.

Well, it was close. Got him to the ER, but after 5 painful hours of waiting we finally got to the social worker to place him in a detox center, and while she was calling he started withdrawing and I couldn't keep him there. So he's shooting heroin upstairs and I need to sleep.

Lisa Loeb on Conan. Still  after all these years.
She's cute for sure. I met her once when working for a radio staion. Every bit the flowery, hippie, vegan wierdo that you'd expect. Polite and kind but annoyingly nerdish.

Oh come on. That's like half her appeal.
You won't be saying that when she cries and keeps saying, "oh...its nothing....I'm sorry....it's nothing I promise...." all through lunch because you chose Mayo and turkey instead of hummus for your sandwich.

Hummus with your sandwich or hummus with your sandwich. The difference here is astronomical.

I had a dream last night that Thorn called me to tell me that Truck was staying with him because some "guys" were after him. Things were getting too "tight" up in Maine so they were gonna drive to NYC to talk to Otis and plan a legal strategy about what to do going forward. He asked if I wanted to meet them for lunch as they were driving to NYC. Then I woke up. I'm hoping I fall back into that same dream tonight so I can find out what happens. Good luck Truck.

Jesus. I cannot even imagine what this is like. You're a good friend, dude. I've done a lot of stupid stuff in my life, but I'm thankful I never took a spike. Christ, what a mess.

Well that all depends...are we doing sex after lunch? Cuz I can put up with a lot. I haven't met too many musicians in my life. Quiot Riot in a Jackson mall was a highlight for me. They strolled in to a record store and we recognized them. My buddy had seen their show two nights earlier in New Orleans. They gave us free tickets to their concert in Jackson which was at a bar and when we went to go pick up our free tickets, I ordered a beer with a fake ID and got booted before the show ever started. However, the lead singer saw us being escorted out and gave us a shout out as we said "Bye Quiot Riot". :kicksrock:

I also met a guy named Duncan Sheik (and i have no clue how that is spelled). I didn't really know who he was, but good lord was he a swishy little tool. He played an acoustic set at the local Fox station (my buddy worked there) and I made it about 3 songs in before bolting. Dude would not shut up about his songs before he would play them and he talked in this hushed monotone that just reeked of self importance.

Oh, and I had a beer with Webb Wilder once. He was...odd.

Hm. Personal only, or can you do an S-Corp too? I'd love to skip the annual stipend to my accountant for his 15 minutes of filling in information that I provide on his computer.

It's hard to speak when you're barely breathing.

I like to think that his entire acoustic set consisted of: Barely Breathing

Almost Failing to Respirate

Barely Breathing (Reprise)

Just Did Get A Breath In

Pant Pant

Barely Breathing (Encore w/drum solo)

Just found out last night that my wife is descended from English and French Royalty, the House of Normandy and the Capetian Dynasty...this may become insufferable.

Let me guess. She did a tree-thingy on Ancestry.com?
Actually no. There was a book written in 1859 on her family that is being updated. This is from actual research. From what I can tell, she is descended from a Quaker that came to the Philadelphia area in 1682 with William Penn(i think on his 2nd voyage - yeah, didn't know this). This is all documented. Then going back to England, it just follows the direct ancestor going back through Edward I, back to King John back to Henry II, Henry I and William I of Normandy. Then it goes to the Flanders line of Robert the Pius, Hugh Capet, Hugh the Great, Robert the Strong, back to Pepin the Short and back to a St. Arnolf.(I skipped the some of the non-kings)It's all pretty cool.

:blackdot: and :goodposting:I've spent about 20 hours compiling all the data for our taxes and the one area in which I'm not 100% comfortable is a couple of LLCs that we own. Always hate doing all the work and still paying.

:lmao: My GB has a client that "discovered" she is a descendant of Cleopatra and she makes sure everybody knows it.
The Cleopatra was a skanky, dumpy, hoor. True story.

:taxchat: activated

I used to do my own taxes but it got to cumbersome after becoming a business owner. Hiring a CPA is worth the time and frustration alone. Plus it is hard to put a price on plausible deniability.

Yo Bob...you gonna let this guy talk this way about your GB's client's dead ancestor?

I've met this client, I'm pushing all in on her tales about her ancestry.
