Job

Local software company has come back to me with an intriguing proposal. Actually 2. One is a a small base with health care and cell phone and 100% of the first months sales to a customer. This is subscription software sales so I think that is supposed to be enticing. But the other option is really intriguing: 10% of revenue created as long as I am with the company (plus the base and cell phone and insurance). So if I planned on staying awhile I could build up my sales and essentially raise my paycheck every month. It's intriguing. I'm intrigued.
Their average length of customer relationship would seem like pertinent data here

edit: just read more - seems like a no brainer to take it. If the duration of their average customer is less than a year, they're probably not going to be around a long time. If you don't need the money desperately right now, the second option seems a lot better.

I'm impressed that you can spell two permutations of intrigue

Politician Spock is being a huge ##### in the Boston thread. Tpw and saintsdome(whoever that is) haven't been much better, but Spock is up for **** of the month.
I don't get why people linger around those *event* threads. Too many dbags just muck it up with idiocy and bickering about each other's idiocy.

So you're taking it, right?
Leaning that way, particularly because I think they will let me work remote which means I can sit at the same desk I'm at now, manage my company (about two hours a day of actual work) and do this job. She mentioned they had other candidates coming back for second interviews this week but that may be a ploy; the company owner really likes me and I've had a lot of meetings with them in the last two months trying to work out an arrangement.
Sweet
Why are we holding on to the original job that isn't making money?

Company is about 8-9 years old.

Why are we holding on to the original job that isn't making money?

Because it's a company I founded 5 years ago. We've made money in the past and things are actually getting busier. But from 6/12-1/13 was absolutely brutal, eating up a lot of our cash. Two friends/investors have put in a fair amount of money to start this business and I'm not leaving them saddled with that just because we had a bad stretch.

Ok, I thought you were leaving it behind. Good luck!

:goodposting:

It's an awful event and the most productive thing they can think of is to bicker over nothing. Avoid.

A few years back, someone (I think SLB) posted about a gambling game they played at baseball games, where they put a $1 bill in a hat and pass it around and if the batter gets out when you're holding the hat you put a dollar in, etc. etc..

Can anyone link back to that by any chance?

Came here to post something else, good timing.

Everybody playing starts by putting a buck in. If the batter makes and out, add another dollar and pass the cup. If the batter gets a single, take a buck, a double, two, triple 3 and a HR gets you everything. You then ante another dollar and start over. That's the simplest version. We also will play if the batter hits into a double play you owe two bucks. Walks and errors are a push, FC you also pay a buck.

We had some crazy thunderstorms last night. As if is wasn't hard enough to sleep after the events in Boston, loud, house shaking booms every few minutes made it impossible. I usually love thunderstorms too. The lightening was crazy too. It was like somebody was just flicking a light switch off and on repeatedly. We got lucky, my GB a couple of houses up the street (the guy that gets me drunk) had everything in his house fried from a strike. The neighbor next to him had their garage door opener and modem fried.

I need a nap.

I think I posted this or at least I've played it before.

I'm not sure what's going on with teen girls and this Condom Challenge thing, but I'll go ahead and blame Homer anyway.
Is it just me, or does it look like the top of her head might extend 2 feet above the frame? :fivehead: :sixhead:Edit: Not exactly that, but something odd-looking from the eyes up there.

I haven't read a book in probably 15 years. But I have troubles falling asleep at night and usually end up watching ####ty TV until 1-2 am. So I figured I'd start reading to see if that helps, and it has a little bit.

Cos/Tre > Do you have any suggestions from what you sent me? I liked Stephen King when I was in my early teens but other than that I really only read what was required for classes. I just finished The DaVinci Code, which was a pretty easy read so something on that level would be nice. TIA

What kind of movies do you like? What are you interested in besides cheese?

Angels and Demons

and

the Stieg Larsson trilogy (Girl With Dragon Tattoo, etc.)

Along the lines of easy reading type books - you might try the Lee Child Jack Reacher series. Lots of action, pretty formulaic though.

If you're trying to sleep, I'd suggest some non fiction

Yeah I tend to lean towards Action/Thriller/Supsense movies. I'll look into these. Thanks.

It's not necessarily to go to sleep....just to relax a bit more maybe?
