GM's thread about nothing (25 Viewers)

Is anyone else not seeing all of the avatars today? Does GM still eat all of the poop?
board is messed up for me today.
This place is predictably going to hell without Abe.
Honestly, I thought my contributions as a mod in the FFA were important. Aaron and I are the only ones here regularly and I felt like I had enough of a rapport with people that I could send a pm asking "be cool please" and that worker better than banning and locking threads. Guess to owners didn't see it that way.

As a mostly outside observer I find this whole situation very odd.

I suspect it's possible my personal issues with work and drinking that I posted in this thread may have played a part. That said, as I've mentioned, that was not the reason given and in a decade I have never experienced joe and David being dishonest with me. If they say they wanted to go a different direction then I believe them.

Just got done eating. Me: Who wants to get in the shower first? Dylan: NOT ME! Cal: NOT ME! Me: Come on Dylan, you replied not me first, it's opposite day. Dylan: It's not opposite day!! Me: Oh yeah it is. Dylan: But we went to school today! If it was opposite day, we would have stayed home! Me: It's only opposite day at home. Dylan: (Walks away taking his clothes off muttering something about how it would be October if it was oppostie day) Me: (Walk out of the bedroom to see Cal combing his mother's hair. ) Cal, what are you doing son? Cal: Making Mom as beautiful as possible. Me: :wall: Mrs. SLB: (Smiles at me) Cal: I could make you better looking but sadly you don't have any hair.
:lmao:
Exactly.

It's been a week(?) since the "Why is Grandma in a treasure chest" story, and I am still :lmao: over it at odd times. Why is that so damn funny to me? I even told someone at work the story today, though of course substituting "friend of mine" for "person I've never met on the internet". I think he still understood the import of the story.

I'm actually still :lmao:  over it though.
 I think I told it to everyone at work too.

Tre- what's your go-to liquor store?
"The closest one that is open"
:goodposting:There are a few in Woodbury that I go to, why?
Meh, just curious.
Kind of depends on what I need. 1.75L of Makers(Costco), exotic/other bourbon or the occasional dark rum/tequila/vodka (wines cellar),fancy beer (wine cellar or MGM)Or like Abe said, sometimes it's any port in a storm...

I leave for Singapore tomorrow. On Friday I worked it out so that my trip for a one hour meeting becomes a 2-1/2 week business/vacation trip for which I get paid, and now my last day at work is May 10. Anyway, heading to Singapore and then a presumably weird trek of Bali, Philippines, Brunei (just for a day, but who gets to say they went to Brunei), and then the Mayalsian part of Borneo.

Borneo.

I love this trip. So excited.

In the midst of typing this I realized I don't leave tomorrow, but Thursday. Whatever. Will be back May 5 and WTF BORNEO.

Our gb chinajew scott is in singapore. We should hook yall up. You may enjoy food and wine half as much as he. Great guy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Wool sounds interesting and is free at Amazon right now. I'll probably check out the Jack Reacher stuff as that sounds right up my alley. Are the Bourne books any good? All of these should keep me busy for a while.
There are 5 or 7 parts to that Wool book. I think the Kindle versions are separate.

I had a dream last night that I divorced my wife and went back to college and moved into the dorms and my neighbor was Jennifer Lawrence and we had a very flirty good time and she was going to come to my room after her roommate fell asleep but then I woke up before anything really good happened.
Did you climax?

Take THAT Indonesia.

Piers Morgan just interviewed a couple from Boston that "pushed on" and got married yesterday after the bombing.

Highlights:

The husband looking like he wanted to die.

The wife saying they decided to go through with the wedding even though she didn't know if their dinner reservations had been impacted.

The wife feeling sorry for people who were "hurt and also those that aren't able to finish the race."

Matching track suits even though the race was over 33 hours ago and they had pictures last night of her in a wedding gown.

Wtf is wrong with some people?

I was looking at the Redbox new arrivals and foun this

Revelation Road

Josh McManus, a traveling salesman with a cloudy past, finds himself in a dusty West Texas town at the wrong time. An unfortunate series of events launch Josh into a war with an outlaw biker gang known as The Barbarians, led by a vicious man named Hawg. Then it happened... A flash in the sky, followed by a crippling series of earthquakes, sending the entire world into chaos. Some say it's the rapture but nothing will stop Josh from going home and confronting his worst fears. Will Josh look to God for strength as he fights a life threatening war that is both physical and spiritual?
On the entire innernets, I found only one review

A great movie!! I know people will read description/ theme of the movie and will think just another movie that's been done too many times.

This is not your regular movie like it, or at least I have seen. Pure Flix have done a new fresh look and type for movie. Great cast and acting. A must see!
Yeah. When I read the synopsis ,my first thought was, "What, another traveling salesman, biker gang, Armageddon story? That's been done to death."

But I will be watching it tonight.
20 minutes in and I find out that Eric Roberts and Brian Bosworth have leading roles, just when I didn't think it could get more awesome. And only two religous encounters so far, so I'm sure it won't be too heavy-handed

Ran the Warrior Dash this past weekend. It was a little muddy. (I'm in the middle)
I guess I always thought you looked like the priest in your avatar

TRE - you're gonna want to check Moxi's latest tweet, fyi.
Just came here to tell you the same. :hifive:
We're doing twitter updates now...about someone you both follow?

I get to go to La Crosse this weekend. Suck it Kizzy! ;)

Yeah I noticed that, thanks. Is it part 1 of one book or are there 5-7 books? I got part 1 figuring I could buy more later if I wanted to. But either way I have a brazillion books at my disposal from Tre and Cos so I wanted to go through those options first.

So I subbed a couple classes for a work friend today. I get in about lunch time and I was a little tired so I stopped by St. Ronald of the Golden Arches and picked up a large diet coke. I'm running a little late and am greeting kids, haven't had time to look at lesson plans though she said it would be a movie. I stand in front of the classes drawing on the straw, look down...oh look we are watching "Super Size Me" today. Thankfully no one made the connection and I was able to tell my funny Morgan Spurlock story.
:lmao:

What exactly is a "Warrior Dash?" Seems like something I'd have a blast doing.

Well, to be fair Abe, being cool isn't exactly management's way of doing things. If only there was a way you could go back in time to change things. Erase your job search discussions, ban Tanner a couple hundred times, look the other way at MOP's racist nonsense, and maybe post pics of yourself wearing an outsized crucifix.

Careful now. I'm pretty sure GM's shtick isn't open source.

Also love how the Kizzy name is sticking. :lmao:

5k with an obstacle course. Climbing over stuff, water hazards, and mud. http://www.warriordash.com/
Rulez.
It was a lot of fun. Very challenging. Like I said, it's supposed to be a 5k, but this year they had to change the venue. We reached the halfway point and did a time check (55 minutes). My group (2,5) were stunned, couldn't imagine we were on a ridiculously slow 40min per mile pace. Turns out the new course was 4.9 miles, but the organizers didn't tell anyone.

I almost started a thread asking if you would be interviewed about something like this if you were a witness, participant in the marathon, first responder, worked at one of the hospitals, etc. It just seems like there are countless people out there clammoring for face time trying to make it about them. I get that first responders, medical personal and others that are heroes and certainly worthy of praise here, but even if i was one of those people, I'd like to think that I'd walk away instead of feeding myself to the media to help prop up what passes as news these days.

I can understand continuing with the wedding on some level...lots of planning, friends, family etc.

But the fact that they went on TV to "explain themselves" is ridiculous

I just met with a serial student I really like. He's a vet of Afghanistan and through some discussions about his tour we became friends of a sort. We're friends on FB even though as a rule I don't "friend" current students. He's a delight to have in class, one of those alpha students who charge up discussion and make my job both rewarding and fun. We joke together all the time.

He's gay. His boyfriend, an older guy, has been in and out of the hospital all semester with various nagging ailments.

I just found out that earlier this week his boyfriend tested HIV positive. While my student's test came back negative, apparently a positive test can pop up any time in the next three months, and according him, there's a good chance he also has HIV.

I feel numb. He's just a kid. 26, sure, but just a kid. Smart, good looking guy, great personality, great sense of humor, a joy to be around.

Bloody hell.

:(

So you have to sign up as a group? There's one in NY in July 27th. I'm thinking of trying to put together a team.

Hey Upside, want to run until you puke? Then drink beer and puke again?

ETA: hell, let's open this up.

Any northeasterners interested in starting a GMTAN team? It could be a fun weekend and a great reason to get your butts in shape.

You don't have to, but I think running with a group enhances the experience.
