We had drinks where someone of it was filmed with SLBD yesterday. Did I mention he's a great guy? Wish we had more time to hang out.
You and SLBD were in Boston yesterday?
I was confused by that too, but I think he means the George Clooney movie Descendants that was filmed on Kauai.Awesome tiki bar near Hanalei Bay makes some good Mai Tais.

Will check out Inception.

It's pretty good but not a masterpiece.
That was supposed to quote GM...how has someone not heard of Inception?
Oh, I've heard of it. I just never saw it.
So "check it out" means you'll watch it?
Why do I feel like I'm walking into a trap here. :oldunsure:

Sure, I'll watch it one day. If it's on. I'm not going to install it into netflix or anything, but if its at the library or on basic cable, I might watch.

No trap, just different lingo I guess.

To me "check it out" means you'll look into the movie and see what it is about or whatever and then maybe decide to see it. I was a little shocked that you maybe were living in a cave and had never heard of it.

Nevermind. Carry on. tl:don'tread

I recently learned that the University of Minnesota has a meat science program. Not sure what I've been doing with my life, but I missed my calling.

Apparently when they butcher and prepare delicious meats and sausages and bacons they sell it!

http://www.ansci.umn.edu/MeatLab/

The problem is they're only open from 2-5pm on Wednesdays, but it appears I can email and make special arrangements.

All of the pigs:

PERFECT 10 PACK, $110.00 includes 10lbs of regular
pork chops, 10 pkg. of thick cut pork chops to grill or to
stuff,10lbs of ribs, 10lbs of pork roasts, 10lbs
of pork sausage chubs (plain & seasoned)
They also invented the Honeycrisp Apple. Some good work going on there.
Those people are ####ing geniuses.

I know it's a movie about dreams within dreams or something. I don't think i'm really going to understand it, but I'm willing to give it a go one day.

ALMOST done with Wires season 2. Can somebody hurry up and kill Ziggy for me?

I got a sausage chub just reading that.

But I'm done with Leo. "Blood Diamond" was one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. His accent was awful. He was awful. No matter what he does, he looks like a little boy acting in a man's role. It doesn't work for me.
"You know in America it's "bling, bling," but out here it's "bling, bang."

All time clunker of a line...And his accent was atrocious. He's very talented though. I thought his take on Howard Hughes in The Aviator was really good. Gatsby looks brutal IMO.

For clarity, does calling people 'tards' gain some sort of GMTAN thread cred?
No, but neither does hurling an insult and then acting slack-jawed when somebody hurls back. :shrug:You are both neat people. I have you both firmly in my top 300 of FBG.
Saying someone has bad taste in movies = calling someone a tard?

Got it.
Why are you so angry?
I guess I'm in the camp that calling people tards is about as low brow and dimwitted as it gets... especially in the middle of movie chat. Not exactly the people I'd hang around, but whatever tickles your pickle.

You've hung around me 3 times. Stop pretending you don't hang out with losers.

Now THAT's a crappy movie

Saying that you think Tommy Boy is a "Top 3 Comedy" and then saying someone else has terrible taste in movies = you being a tard.

I've come around on a lot of the mid 90s "stupid" comedies like Tommy Boy and Black Sheep

I wasn't a huge fan at the time, but compared to the Happy Madison dreck of the past several years (Jack & Jill, Grown Ups, etc) and the self indulgent angst ridden movies of the Apatow oeuvre (This is 40? More like this is 40 minutes too long, amirite?), I've come to appreciate them more...They are broad and sophomoric, sure, but they also didn't try to be more than they were, and had the decency to clock in under 100 minutes

Eyes Wide Shut is based on a 1920s novella called "Traumaville," written by some obscure author. When the news broke that Kubrick was finally doing a new movie, I got all geeky and I tried my damnest to find a copy to read.

Couldn't locate a single one. You'd think someone would have bought the rights and fired up the presses. Kubrick geeks alone would have guaranteed a profit. But nope.
The English version is available on Amazon for $7. Penguin published it in 1999, the same year the movie came out.

You need a research assistant, professor.

It's available in the original German on .pdf. /snobbery

Sure seems like. Also, has been mailing it in on his own books for quite a few years now. Used to be a big fan, now not so much.
The original Cross books were good. Had Patterson in the same class as say a Robert Parker.

I haven't picked one of his books up in like ten years since they went too formulaic.

Exactly. I haven't seen a good, new, funny movie in a long time.

I hear Tre starred in one.

Does something different happen in this version of Gatsby that didn't in the book or in the Robert Redford film?
I'm expecting Leo to play a better Gatsby. Redford was a total stiff.
I'm guessing you're not familiar with Leo's work?
 I like Leo. Redford is the better actor, sure, but he was awful as Gatsby.
Go on.
I'm going to wait for the "Things CC is an Expert On" thread.
