Taking my wife in for a spinal tap tomorrow, so they can determine if she has some elevated pressures causing her headaches.

We have to catch a break soon. The docs she's seeing now aren't as liberal with the pain meds, which is probably for the better but means she gets super stressed out about having to ration what they prescribe, because she needs them to take the edge off.

Also have her scheduled for a sleep study since she is waking up with them every morning.

But this is the worst I've ever seen her. I'm doing everything I can to try to keep her fighting, but she continues to spiral down in depression.

To make things much worse, her mom and her are not really speaking. My MIL is convinced these are "all in her head" and my wife feels this is very hurtful, and told her so about a month ago. They both have some anger issues and are very stubborn, so not sure what's going to happen. I talked to my MIL yesterday and was furious with her, although I did my best not to be an ###hole.

Ah, no all the stages are wide open (except the Ampitheater). They each fit maybe 4-5 thousand with the main road behind them so anyone can listen if they choose not to get in the mix. No one is checking IDs unless he has a beer in his hand.

And not sure about 30 years ago, but it's a huge drunk fest. Things can get out of hand. Not sure how much of that he's been exposed to.

GL, I hope they find the cause and that things get better with the MIL.

Here is one thing I found that was causing a lot of my headaches, I always mention it to people who are suffering from headaches because this can result in an ongoing cycle - mine improved quite a bit once I cut back on the medication:

Hey Shuke - Best of luck to you man. Both mu youngest sister and my nephew had severe migraine headaches. My oldest sister(nephews mom) did everything for him to help him find a way through the headaches. He went off an on all sorts of medicines. The only thing that eventually worked for them was diet regulation. They kept a journal of everything he ate for 6 months +. Eventually identified trigger foods that were playing a part in the headaches. They now shop at Whole Foods and have a strict diet of stuff they eat. Have you ever looked into that.

I feel for you as it is pretty miserable. My youngest sister has been dealing with pretty much constant migraines and double vision for the past 10 years(this is 24/7 for her). She also has other disabilities which makes it even worse.

I hope you find a solution to them.

Das boot - she is a pretty informed patient, knows everything about headaches, including rebound. But it is difficult to convince her not to take anything when she is this bad of shape. Getting into some type of treatment facility for a month could probably help this, but we don't know how feasible that is. There is one at the Cleveland Clinic, but she has heard bad things about it from her online friends on the headache message board, but I am not a fan of her basing her opinion on that.

walnutz - she's tried different diets and monitoring, to no avail. It would probably be worth trying again, but I know she would think now is not the time to try. Stress magnifies the headaches, and she has a lot of it trying to raise our kids while I am at work is a big stressor, and adding anything to complicate that right now would not be good for her.

She has a wireless modem/router combo that is in another room but the receiver only takes a wired connection. Is there some sort of wireless receiver that plugs into a LAN port?

Guster, thanks for asking. I am holding up okay. Although, I haven't posted it here, my wife and I had a very rough few years. It eventually ruined our marriage. The split fortunately was very amicable and we remain great friends. We literally agreed to divide up our assets over dinner one night at a mexican place in town.

To show how strange and cruel life can be, my wife went to the court hearing yesterday. I did not go because I wasn't required. She actually filed the paperwork and was required to be there. After leaving the courthouse and the divorce was final, she got a call that her grandmother passed away. They were very close.

So while I may feel bad today, it is mostly for her. She doesn't deserve this. No one does.

My ex and i first had the talk about splitting over dinner at a local chicken restaurant.

While there was a range of emotions at the time, we ultimately were also quite amicable and do a great job of co-parenting our daughter. There was a little bit of time where she longed for us to be together and then one day she saw her mom get really upset and direct it at me (she was pissed off because of work stuff but took it out on me) and had the awareness to note that "oh, so that's why you guys aren't together." she hasn't mentioned anything about it since.

So yeah, I'm glad that things went smoothly for you and sorry to hear about your ex's grandmother.

I'd be curious to see how they measured intelligence. What does "raw cognitive performance" mean?

There's some bias in there because they required 500 responses for a location to count and location was determined by IP address. There could be 100 geniuses together in a compound in Wyoming and no one else within 20 miles of them and it wouldn't count.

makes sense. you could also look at using a powerline adapter that runs the internet through the electrical wiring in the house.

Shuke, I know exactly what you mean re your MIL. My mother is famous for stuff like that. When she found out that my brother and his wife were having trouble having a second child (apparently their first was something of a miracle), she told him that his wife shouldn't have taken any meds for post partem depression, and she should now take more vitamins. Completely dismissed all the different doctors' advice. For my sleep apnea, she keeps asking me why don't I try going to sleep an hour earlier, in a tone that suggests this is the simplest thing ever to fix.

I'd be curious to see how they measured intelligence. What does "raw cognitive performance" mean?

There's some bias in there because they required 500 responses for a location to count and location was determined by IP address. There could be 100 geniuses together in a compound in Wyoming and no one else within 20 miles of them and it wouldn't count.

But anyway, congrats on being surrounded by smart people
