GM's thread about nothing (18 Viewers)

Overall good end to an extremely stressful week. Can't go into detail b/c I don't want to jinx anything...just nice for all of this to happen on a friday
Agreed. My company shipped the first part of an order that will keep is from going out of business. Customer is pissed because its about a month late but at least they didn't cancel the po.

And at my job I booked an order that covers my salary for six months. It's not what I was hired to sell but money is money and the boss is pleased with my work on this one.

Mobday will be another hornets nest but tomorrow is my kids birthday party and a lot of family is in town. It's only 106 outside so it could be worse. Life is good for the moment.
:hifive:

Off to pick up the boys, go hang out at a friend's pool, eat pizza and drink beer

So apparently I was being a big baby about my job concerns. I confronted my new manager about, well never being told she was my new manager, among other things. She apologized and told me she had "built a wall" around me when layoffs were contemplated. Turns out she "values my skill set."

Translation: I am the Operations Manager for multiple practices, but I'm weak on the whole revenue cycle thing. I need you for that.

Plans for Vegas in January can proceed, I guess.

I forget who told that story but I laugh everytime I see a personalized license plate.

So, I had an EGD today. Actually a follow up EGD from a previous one performed in December. When I woke up in recovery, the doctor was there with pictures of my esophagus. Said it looked much improved than 6 months previous, but then he pointed to an area of discoloration and said, "We took a sample of these cells for a biopsy." So hearing that sucked. He didn't seem to worried, but since my dad died of esophageal cancer, I'm kinda freaking out. Should know something middle of next week.
Good luck.

Wise-### answer aside, if you need help working through a P&L, let me know.

Taking my wife in for a spinal tap tomorrow, so they can determine if she has some elevated pressures causing her headaches.

We have to catch a break soon. The docs she's seeing now aren't as liberal with the pain meds, which is probably for the better but means she gets super stressed out about having to ration what they prescribe, because she needs them to take the edge off.

Also have her scheduled for a sleep study since she is waking up with them every morning.

But this is the worst I've ever seen her. I'm doing everything I can to try to keep her fighting, but she continues to spiral down in depression.

To make things much worse, her mom and her are not really speaking. My MIL is convinced these are "all in her head" and my wife feels this is very hurtful, and told her so about a month ago. They both have some anger issues and are very stubborn, so not sure what's going to happen. I talked to my MIL yesterday and was furious with her, although I did my best not to be an ###hole.

Sorry for the rambling. I've been wanting to get this stuff off my chest but I hate typing long posts and bothering people with this ####.
Wow, that sucks GB.

Best of luck to her.

Drinking all day and going to see Cake at Summerfest tomarrow. Slap it high
Very high...

love me some Cake. Actually would be tempted to make the run up there for that, weather looks like it's going to be crappy though.
Great tunes for strippers, I've found.

They play at 10 so hopefully the weather is clear by then.
Kid (13) is a big Cake fan. Just sent them an email about age restrictions at the Miller Lite Oasis stage. Would love to bring him up there for his first show.

Really? Did not know that. I don't know how they would enforce it. Dropkick Murphy's are there tonight and my GB went with his 15 year old cousin.
That's my assumption. Remember going when I was his age, but that was 30 years ago. When it's a 2+ hour drive, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Pretty sure the whole park is all-ages all the time, except for maybe the main stage where you have to buy separate tickets.

good luck, fatso  i have been hoping to kill you myself so don't let this get you first.

We put an offer in on a house yesterday. Offered them their asking price and their REALTOR® came back with "Well, they were really hoping to get another ten racks."

Despite my first inclination to say "Well if you wanted $10k more, you should have listed for $10k more," things being what they are right now in Houston, I said "sure, we can do that but that's as high as we're going... we're not going to get into a bidding war." Come to find out they declined our offer due to "potential concerns" with our offer (which was very straight forward and flexible with the closing date). We're doing a VA loan so my thinking (and my REALTOR®'s) is that they're factoring that into their decision.

About the only difference with the VA loan is that we have to have a pest inspection... which for a newer home would typically be a non-issue.

Frustrating. Not saying we deserve special consideration for using the VA loan, but I hate that my offer for the same or higher dollar amount would be declined in favor of a non-VA loan.

Why would that make a difference to them? Is the pest inspection the only reason? Seems silly.

JFC. For the first time in a long time I almost had to tell another adult to ####.

I'm doing this wedding rehearsal today and one of the groomsmen was this obnoxious, 25-year-old manchild.

He looked like the redneck ******* love-child of this guy and this guy.

Everytime I was trying to talk to one of the members of the wedding party or the party itself jerkbag had to interrupt or just blurt out something stupid. It was like teaching 7th graders again. About half way through I almost pulled the groom aside to tell him to talk to this dilhole about not acting like a tool. I didn't do it only because I'm sure the groom has a lot of other things to worry about (like ruining his life tomorrow).

If he's a pantload tomorrow I'm going to pull him aside after the ceremony and tell him he's an a[sshole].

Oh yeah, my selling agent called me today and informed me that the buyer's lender didn't like to see language in the contract stating that we were going to give them a $1250 allowance for repairs. Instead, they want us to contribute $1250 toward their closing costs. No problem. She sends the amendment over to me and it says I'm contributing $4250. I call her and say, "Um, can you double-check that? Shouldn't it say $1250?"

"Oh no. That's in addition to the $3000 that you were contributing." This is news to me. "Just go ahead and sign it," she says. I tell her to double-check and call me back.

Sure enough, ten minutes later she calls and tells me she owes me a big apology and that there was no $3000 contribution. I'm like "Oh no problem, you can just owe me half of that." Stupid #####.

Cos, your friend Nena is smoking hot. Does she like cat shirts?
I had a mad crush on her for a few years when I was going to SHSU and working at her record store. If I couldn't crack through the lesbianic shell in my prime, I imagine your catshirt will be similarly powerless.
yeah, saw her picture on the kickstarter and was floored. nice skin
Can we get a link here or something?

Please. Including the groom there were 7 at the altar. Red O'Pencildick was one of two white guys.

We're going extinct you know. You expecting a majority outside of Dublin or Reykjavik?

Someday there won't be any more of us for you to kick around.

Sucks, but the reason they probably don't like the VA loan is because they're 0 down. If someone's doing a loan where they're putting a substantial down payment down, that looks like an offer that's less likely to get hung up in financing to a seller.
