This weekend I was playing in a softball tournament in the town where I grew up and went to high school and we had a three hour break between games so we went to a bar. Half the team was inside and half outside and I was hanging outside and I noticed a guy there by himself who I went to high school with an was actually really good friends with from 4th-12th grade. We played sports together all through elementary and high school and had sleepovers and played Nintendo when we were kids and were always hanging out in the same group in high school. When I realized it was him I went back inside and hid out there until he left because I didn't want to have to talk to him since I haven't seen him in probably 11 years. Is that weird?

I did this the other day. Guy I haven't talked to since HS, but we're friends on facebook. To be fair, he's a 9/11 wingnut.

The guy I'm talking about had his dad flip out right after high school because his whole life was wrapped up in his son's (this guy) sport career and he left his family to move back in with his parents in Morehead never came back and they were all ####ed up about it and now I had heard my old friend was a weird biker guy and he was wearing a biker shirt and his wallet had a chain on it.

This is truly an impressive sentence. Are you currently on crank?

Crap. I actually meant to go back and make sure I had a period in there but my brain is just flowing I guess on the vodka and cranberry I've been drinking since I don't have to go to work tomorrow and am going to the cabin. And thank you I am taking that as a compliment.

Where are you? One of my closest friends just moved to Burlington and I'm dying to visit.

In Rutland now but headed up to Burlington tomorrow. Been 17 years since I graduated from there and my first time going back to visit.

Lived there for most of the 90s, usually go back every summer though, not this year. It's probably a better place to visit now than it used to be, but slightly worse place to live. Friends say it's basically like being a year-round resident of a tourist town - better restaurants and more stuff happening, but also everything's way more expensive, lots more traffic, and lots of tourists, particularly Quebecois since the loonie is on par with the dollar.

American Flatbread in the old Carbur's is pretty good, the Farmhouse is fantastic for sitting and quaffing. It's where the McDonald's used to be right off of Church Street - friends call it "Old McDonald's."

I knew that was weird. I should have talked to him but I just don't wanna be like "so what do you do" and "how's the family" and stuff. And then have to answer that too. Ugh. I bet Tanner backs me up here.

Well poop. We almost made it through a 4 day visit from my mother without incident. But this afternoon she and wife had a spat and I'm sure ill be hearing about it for weeks or months.

1. I rarely eat lunch.

2. When I do it is usually some crackers or a granola bar I find at work.

3. Wife tries to tell me how unhealthy this is.

So today I went home after jury duty and wife asks if I want lunch then makes a joke to my mom that I usually don't eat lunch and if I do it is "usually a handful of trail mix or half a left over cracker." My mother - in the midst of Habing a crazy moment replies "well that's probably prett healthy actually."

Could have chilled meat in the house it got so cold so suddenly. So I've dropped mom off and an heading home to hear all about how my mom baby's me and how she most certainly must have no idea what I've put wife through and so on and so forth.
