GM's thread about nothing (79 Viewers)

Ball Son Urchin said:
Completely unrelated (well, it is but whatever)...I went to the bank and cashed out some loot. I had a bet awhile back that I couldn't live on the streets for a month, so now I'm going to do it. I made arrangements to take care of my son (Momsie will do it) and I'm going to be homeless for 30 days. All I'm allowed is a small backpack. I have faith I can do this.
Have you watched "Craigslist Joe"?

Need a good crock pot chili recipe....Tiger? Is that in your nachos thread? Frosty? Link a bro up?

P and S, going to Reeser's Outlet Store today, Frost. Hoping to load the boat on unhealthy meat product snacks.

Do you like pulled pork? This is a great chili, and you can add spice to it since it's rather mild.

2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) chili-ready diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (15-1/2 oz.) red kidney beans, rinsed
1 can (15 oz.) black beans, rinsed
1 large onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. ground cumin
1 boneless pork shoulder (2-1/2 lb.)
Combine all ingredients except meat in slow cooker, mix well. Add meat; cover with lid. Cook on LOW 10 to 12 hours (or on HIGH 7 hours). Remove meat from slow cooker. Shred meat; return to slow cooker. Stir and serve.

Thanks GB...I think I just talked myself into making Smails chili again. Lotta work, but it's delicious.

How's everything with you and yours?

I'd say your risk here is pretty minimal.*

*I don't do criminal law and I'm not licensed in your state or on the internet.
Totally forgot to tell you that I wore the Reese's shirt to a company-social event thingy and this cute 21 year old (female) REALLY like the shirt. We've been exchanging flirty emails for a week now. I love you.
Multiple things stemming this post from last month (numbered list, Krista Hi)

1) 21 year old had a boyfriend, has broken up with boyfriend and is engaging in secret physical relationship with Gadzooks. Jiminey Crickets she's a fun time.

2) Due to work and 21 year old mentioned above, I have been ridiculously swamped for the last month, but a package of pleasure and magic f-ball dues money has been shipped to GM and prize money from HR pool is going out on Monday.

3) Guster, I owe you a text. Your boxes of fun are now legendary in my house. Almost everyday now Little 'Zooks asks if the nice guy from the internet sent us another box of stuff.

4) My old boss (that was fired) sent me a thing asking to "recommend" him on LinkedIn. I hated that guy more than Homer hates Chris Hansen.

5) Work is calming down and 21 Year old is a great part time "secret" friend. The last year or so has been filled with bumps and bruises and warts (literally) but now things are going much smoother.

6) I love you.

Thanks good buddy. And here you go:

1 lb. stew meat

1 lb. ground beef

1 diced white onion

1 diced green bell pepper

1 diced poblano pepper

6 cloves minced garlic

1 cup beef broth

1/2 cup chicken broth

2 can tomato sauce (8 oz. each)

3 T chili powder

1 T cumin

2 t oregano

1 t garlic powder

1 t onion powder

2 t smoked paprika

1 t coriander

1 t cayenne pepper

1 t salt

1/2 t black pepper

1/2 t white pepper

2 cans kidney beans (or chili beans)

1/2 t ancho chili pepper

1/2 t chipotle chili powder

Brown meat with onions, garlic, and pepper

combine in crock pot with everything except beans, cook for 3-6 hours

add beans and increase heat for 30-60 minutes

Obviously you can use any meat you want (but don't use any Reser's Pepper Stix, those are all mine), I just usually use stew meat and ground beef because it's what we have on hand.

I never measure anything with chili. Do you guys actually sit there with a teaspoon measuring this ish out?

Frostychili looks like a good base, minus the beans of course. I would get some real/man peppers in there though. Serrano/Habanero or at least teh Jalapeno.

Don't be afraid to mix up the meat: sausage, chorizo, grilled chicken, flank steak, little cornbread meatballs, bacon, etc.

Also, I recommend having a number of chili powders on hand.

Also, also, use a combo of chicken/beef stock and dark beer for the liquid.

Don't itch your eyes like I do every time. If you do, pour milk in them.

I hope this goes for a while
What goes where now?
Krista hammering on Tanner's friend on the Facebook
Not sexually.
Yet. She's probably closeted.
This makes a LOT of sense.
Homer jumping in with both feet. :pickle:
Well done.

How's Mama D?

Krista hammering on Tanner's friend on the Facebook
It wasn't even close. Krista by KO
Very disappointing. I didn't even get a chance to bring out my best moves.

Things are crazy GB. Finally have my oldest son's issues figured out and have a 45 week Vision Therapy plan getting put in place. I however herniated a disk and am heading towards epidural steroid injections to see if I can avoid having surgery. So a bit of stress but things are looking a lot more positive right now :)

2lbs ground beef (browned and drained)

1 small onion (chopped) (or dried chopped onion)

16 oz kidney beans (mostly drained)

16 oz black beans (mostly drained)

16 oz pinto beans (mostly drained)

14.5 oz diced tomatoes, undrained (italian style works best since it has green peppers & spices already in it)

6 oz tomato paste

2 envelopes chili seasoning (your choice)

1 cup of water

Add all beans, diced tomatoes and tomato paste to the crock pot and mix well. Mix the chili seasoning packets with the 1 cup of water and add to the crock pot and mix everything well. Add the cooked and drained ground beef to the crock pot and mix well.

Cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occassionally if desired.

(Cook on high for 1 1/2 – 2 hours if in a hurry.)

I never measure anything when cooking -- that's why I can't get into baking -- I gotta dance when I'm in the kitchen. That said, when sharing recipes it's handy to include at least some rough measurements to get folks through their first pass at a dish.

I really hate how emotional I get over college football. I really need to learn to rein this in before my daughter gets old enough to know what is going on.

Scouting For Food was interesting today. Scout leader, that I want to beat, tells the kids that if somebody doesn't have a donation out to knock on their door and ask them for one. I'm very cool with that. However he tells them to say "Hi, I'm (some stupid kid) and I'm from Troop 69. I'm Scouting for food. Do you have a donation?". Now I've never been involved in this before so I figure what do I know?

Watching Dylan was awesome. He knocked on doors without fear. The first person he got was some fat, shirtless man, that I presume was in the middle of an Artie Lang look alike contest, and after "I'm from" the guy shuts the door. This annoyed and made me happy. Game on. So I tell the boys from now on you say "I'm here to help the poor by Scouting for food. Do you have a canned good to help the poor?". Worked like a charm. They only got turned down once the rest of the day and that was from some 12 year old kid. Had a couple of hung over guys that were guilted into it. Man it was fun. Oh and we helped poor people too.

Shoulda went back and gave the fat guy a can of corn.

"Since you didn't give us anything for the poor, I figure you didn't have any money, so here's a can of corn"

Why is a Clemson fan cheering for UGA in the first place?
Two reasons:

1.) I picked them to cover in my Pick 'Em league. Going into this week I was 4th out of 142 overall. Had UGA covered, I would have gone into 2nd place. Instead, I fell to 6th. This league will pay out nicely to the top 10 at the end of the season, and we need the money.

2.) Slightly more TMI, my brother-in-law is a huge UGA fan. My sister recently went through IVF and got pregnant, but when they went in for the ultrasound on Thursday, there wasn't a heartbeat so they had to go to the hospital for a D&C at 9 weeks. He's about as good a guy as there is, so I just really wanted a win for him.

gg, though

How do we feel about Aaron Murray as a pro prospect? The kid's been money for like 3 seasons yet I never really hear him mentioned as a high draft pick.

Furley, nice to see you again.

Other random things:

My Dad busted his nut bad trying to move something too heavy. I've never seen him in this much pain. Dang.

There was rezoning done on the land behind my house. None of the trees will be touched and the land behind it will stay the same. I can't tell you how happy I am about this. Plus there will be three bar (probably chain crappy) restaurants put in within a 10 minute walking distance of my house. Pretty happy all around.

My former biggest client's lawyer sees things the same as mine. We're in the right here. As of Friday I was told they will either run out the next two years of the contract or pay us off. We'll see.

Oh I wanted to argue. There isn't anything better than having nothing to lose. I just laughed and tried to figure out a better game plan.

I also told one of the other dads that we should just steal stuff if they didn't answer the door. :bag:

Good news all around, pending what bars go up near you.
