GM's thread about nothing (77 Viewers)

So I appeared in Dept 55 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Central District this morning, and who do I have to ask to get out of the way of the posted court docket outside the courtroom than Gene Simmons.

He was just standing there, hanging out because he's got some sort of case pending somewhere. He looks pretty much the same in real life as you'd expect, and he was wearing some dark, basically monochromatic suit/shirt/tie combo but not really looking all that natty, which for him was perfect. Practicing law in LA is funny sometimes.
This is how I would expect him to look all the time.
This is pretty much the way he looked, except with a suit shirt and tie on. No shades or anything.

I wish I'd thought to tell him that shuke says hi.
Top 5 least favorite celebrities. The guy makes my skin crawl.
he was awesomely creepy and weird on celebrity apprentice.

So, I'm taking that job. Big pay upgrade and a good opportunity to learn another aspect of the business, while growing a new office. There will be travel 1-2 times per month, but I'm assured no travel 4-6 weeks prior to due date and getting paid paternity leave. All that, plus working with 2 of my best friends, who I respect and who respect me, how could I say no?

Now the hard parts. The most difficult being telling my mom that I am moving 4.5 hours away with her first unborn grandchild while she is going through all that BS with her father. Now my mom is having blood pressure issues. My dad will take it just fine I think. Sister will be upset, but happy for us too.

The other hard part is finding a place to rent for 6-12 months in a decent area outside of Philly with access to the regional rail for my daily commute, and not too far from the airport for the days where I travel to a city in the morning, and fly back that evening.

Oh, right. No, I don't mean the beer, I mean this:

nat·ty1ˈnatē/adjectiveinformaladjective: natty; comparative adjective: nattier; superlative adjective: nattiest1.(esp. of a person or an article of clothing) smart and fashionable."a natty blue blazer and designer jeans" synonyms: smart, stylish, fashionable, dapper, debonair, dashing, spruced up, well-dressed, chic, elegant, trim; More
Always like to learn a new word that I'll promptly forget. Thank you.

Hold up. You've never heard the word "natty" (not the beer) before?

Oh, I've probably heard it numerous times and thought the person was indeed referencing the beloved beer. You'd be surprised at how good I am at pretending to understand.

He is definitely creepy looking. When I politely asked him to move he just impassively turned his gaze to me and then slowly stepped to one side. No hint of any sort of congeniality, even something minimal like a raised eyebrow.

He should be running a mortuary or something.

:lmao: I love you.

I think Gene Simmons internal monologue runs something like, "I'm Gene Simmons, I'm Gene Simmons, I'm Gene Simmons, nice ###, I'm Gene Simmons, I'm Gene Simmons"

I think I'd choose a suburb closest to your parents house, so when they want to come see you or you go see them, at least neither of you have to drive through the metro Philly area to get there. Or just choose the best area within the city proper (Chestnut Hill).
I'm looking at West Chester and Media primarily at the moment. I just don't want a 45 minute drive to the train and then another 30-45 on it. I guess that won't be horrible, it just will be a huge adjustment for me being that I work literally 3 minutes from where I live now.
My wife lived in Media for a while when she was a kid. If you want to know ANYTHING about Media PA circa 1982 she can tell you. Actually if don't want to know she'll still tell you.
I'd rather be there for commute purposes, but there's not much available right now. I know I like west Chester, and there appears to be more and nicer stuff right now. West Chester is further away, but it might be worth renting there 6-12 months, before buying anywhere, and realizing that it's either not a big deal, or that it's too far.

We are having our annual meeting tomorrow at a hotel. Afterwards, two or three people on our team of 9 are being let go. I am not one of them. Should be an exciting day around here.

This guy for whom I'm covering while he takes vacation next week? He sent me something around noon today asking if I could do it because he was "running out of time before vacation". WTMF? I didn't agree to cover your "pre-vacation".

So far I've ignored him for 3.5 hours.

"Oh, sorry, I don't get back from my vacation until I start covering for your vacation."

Either that or dummy up a vacation auto-reply indicating you'll return to the office next week.

Maybe he's going to climb Mt. Everest and needs days to pack.

Just keep ignoring him.

Reply: "I know the feeling. The vacation I'm on keeps getting interrupted by the requests of selfish non-vacationers. I'm running out of time before going back to work! Can you help?"

Maybe your life will be easier picking it up from him now rather than answering questions about something he did before he left when you have no clue about what he did and then left you to cover the mess he left behind because he's lazy and sloppy and probably a little stupid.
