GM's thread about nothing (17 Viewers)

So another question for the folks smarter than me in the GMTAN (ie everyone). Due to the nature of my job I am never in the office, typically at client businesses all day everyday. Do I go in and give my notice first thing in the AM or do I do it at the end of the day? Second part, my boss isn't in the office very often either either so it makes it a bit of a crap shoot as well. Should I call and talk to my boss and see if he's in the office, which will tip him off to something or just show up and see if he's there?

If your shirt isn't tucked into your pants then your pants are tucked into your shirt.
Whoa.

Do you want to work that day? Seemed like you thought they might show you the door as soon as you give notice. I don't think it matters whether you do beginning or end of day, but if the beginning just be prepared not to work that day.

Is there someone in the office who can inform you if the boss is there--a trusted person so that you can avoid the crapshoot?

To be honest it doesn't matter to me or not, I would head to the client regardless after I give notice. And it's 50/50 that they show me the door, however I would love a nice two week vacation, I could go with the wife and kids to Florida. I just wasn't sure if I should give the notice in the morning or not. Seems like one vote for it doesn't matter.

And I can check with a couple of different people, but anyone I check with will know something is up and would likely mention it to the boss.

There are people I can check with but anyone of them will know something's up.

First helicopters falling from the sky, now fatal mudslides?

Is it time for the 'Ficticious Tragedies the Kristas Brought to Washington State' thread?
Yeah, um, sorry 'bout that, guys.

We were actually planning to hike this morning in the area where the mudslides occurred. Seeing the news last night we switched to a different hike. Got there this morning to find that the trail was closed due to a landslide. :oldunsure:
If you and Bob ever have children, there's no telling how much death and destruction your offspring could inflict upon the world.

Yes, I definitely vote for "it doesn't matter".

If there's no one you can trust re boss, I'd just do the show up and hope for the best approach. It probably doesn't really matter if he knows something is up, but I prefer the element of surprise.

I also prefer the surprise method, but in reality WTF cares. Not like he can fire me or anything :)

:lmao: Sadly true.

I grew up going to the Texas prison rodeo. It was awesome even as a 7 year old. They had one event where they took a lunch sack and put $100 in it (which would be like 500 now I guess). They would tie the bag between the horns of a bull and let fifty prisoners in to the arena. Whoever got the bag got the money for smokes and whatever at the commissary. No way you could do tha now.
So, did the guy who won that year look like Gene Wilder or Richard Pryor?

Pretty disappointed by this garlic sausage I just pulled off the grill. Thankfully I have a 16oz ribeye to get the taste of it out of my mouth.

Speaking of leaving them in the box, my newborn is 10lbs of pure scream machine today. Kill me.
have you tried Mylicon drops? http://www.mylicon.com/
Doesn't make a dent.
No shtick - do you know why she's crying? We've been blessed with two kids with amazing temperament - the 7 week old peeps when she needs a diaper change or is hungry, otherwise she's totally silent. But she farts like a mule and belches a ton. Is her stomach hurting from gas or is she just generally fussy?

Never been, but heard nothing but good things about the Angola Prison Rodeo. I believe it's every weekend in October, which could make for a kick ### trip bc Halloween is in a Friday this year IIRC and Nola is only a 2 hour ride away. Downside is that it's during football season though

Eta: just checked the site and it's every Sunday in October and apparently they have a spring rodeo now for two days in April (happens to coincide with the first weekend of jazz Fest.)

Thinking maybe I should start using distilled water rather than Dallas tap water in the Neti pot. Never really thought about that. :oldunsure:

Louisiana talk: Any of you ever been to the Angola State Prison Rodeo? A friend posted something about it on FB, I'm intrigued.

That's awesome.

Convict Poker - Four inmate cowboys sit at a table in the middle of the arena playing a game of poker. A bull is then released with the sole purpose of unseating the poker players. The last man remaining seated is the winner.
:lmao:

They actually showed a lot of initiative working together. My dad knew/knows most of the guards (he had them as students) and they would tell him how the convicts spent weeks putting teams/groups together with a couple "hitmen" (takes the hits from the bull), a "grabber" (supposed to get the money) and a couple "clowns" (distract the bull). Of course all that goes out the window with a snarling bull bearing down on you. But you have to applaud their creativity.

Shows an excerpt of a documentary on the Angola rodeo where they have to grab a token from between the bull's horns.

So, Tony's going to send Christopher to rehab and nail this one legged Russian chick in the same episode? Quite a turn of events.

Angrywife is going for a consultant on a little "mommy makeover" tomorrow and PR girl who referred us casually mentioned that she has a video on the website but I can't ever watch it. Why would anyone ever say this? I was good with being blissfully ignorant. Now, at some point, I'm going to get full of whiskey and go looking for it.

The doctor's website.

You seem to be channeling a little SLB here. I don't mean in terms of charming multiple women, but in terms of I don't know wtf you're talking about.

I've had a lot of whiskey. My wife and I are visiting a plastic surgeon tomorrow to discuss repair of some of the damages that the little savages caused on her previously wonderful outer shell. Our PR consultant, who I have the bigtime hots for, recommended this doctor to us. At the same time, she informed me that she had "before and after" video on the doctor's website but that I couldn't watch it. It would never have occurred to me to go looking for video, but now that I know such footage exists, I can barely contain my interest.

Almost done with Season 4 of dexter. Really like this better than 3, which I thought was much better than 2. So there is that.

One other definite person from here (initials JA) is tied for first (and also tied for 40th). Based in LA so I'm guessing radiers guy.

Think I need Michigan and Iowa St. to lose in the S16, and still get Louisville over UF (or some weird team like Stanford) in the final to take it down.
